Wiz03|Quick waiter

Ohh...whee. :) My first turn! :D Discussion? I'm not going to be able to grab it for another four or so hours. (at college at the moment)

Discussion? Go bash India, but leave one city. End of story :D

(at least that's what Bede's post sounds like.

Link doesn't work--downloading directly from the folder. (Got it, in other words. Or at least, 3% ATM. )

Inherited Turn-310: You've got to be kidding me! Here I was expecting a tough fight, but India's down to three cities, with the fourth about to be taken. Bede, I'm going to assume you went ahead and hit enter, because every unit on the map needed orders.. (need clarification here) With that assumption, I'll treat my next turn as the second one. I move troops toward Calcutta, which should be a tough fight due to her size seven bonus. I'm tempted to find some city to beat a galley out of, but there's already one in Canton, so I direct him to a place where I suspect another island. I direct some settlers to some open ground between our cities.

Turn 2-320 AD: Chinese troops march on Calcutta!

Veteran Swordsman versus Regular Spear: swordsman wins 2 to 3
Veteran Swordsman versus Regular Spear: swordsman loses 4 to 1, spearman is veteran'd! :(
Veteran Swordsman versus 3 HP Veteran Spear: Swordsman wins 3 to 3, elites and takes the town! Whoop! We take three slaves. They start working on the Calcutta-Anyang road.

Approach Ghandi for peace to see if he'll give up any cities. He'll give up a city we can't see- apparently one he just founded. Er-oh. :( Residual swordsmen start a forced march to Anyang. Shatung founded betwixt Orleans and Boston.

Turn 3-330 AD: Chinan founded between Philly and Paris. Kaifeng founded on northern coast, above Macao. Anyang road completed.

Turn 4-340: Our column is one tile away from Anyang, will be able to rendevous troops and march on the pagan capital of Delhi soon.

Turn-5-350: Kaifeng-Calcutta road started. Troops fortifying, will enter pagan territory in a turn or so. I want to beat a settler out of Calcutta, but the silly city is still in revolt. Why can't you just beat citizens for fun? Restricting game mechanics....

Turn 6-360 AD: Bah, sissy troops still trying to heal. I tell you, armed hordes these days have no backbones whatsoever! I remember the good 'ol days- our troops slaughtering those French willy-nilly. Did they never complain about it? Nope. Now that's all these troops talk about these days. Benifets and retirement packages. Oy vey.

Turn 7-370 AD: Our troops start marching toward Delhi. Onward, noble pillagers! My suspicions are verified. The shore was the Indian town of whatmacallit.

Turn 8-380 AD: I start building horsemen. I find the town. It's highest-rated defender is a regular spearman. We have entirely too many slaves. Frankly, I'm getting tired trying to find things for them to do.

Turn 9-390 AD: This island looks pretty big. It should- according to mapstat, it's gotta be pert near 147 tiles. Indian troops march on Delhi!

Veteran Swordsman versus Regular Spear: loses four to two and veterans the spear.
Veteran Swordsman versus Regular Spear: loses four to three.
Veteran Swordsman versus Regular Spear: loses four to three and veterans the spear.
Veteran Swordsman versus Regular Spear: WINs one to three.
Veteran Swordsman versus 2 HP Veteran Spear: WINS zero to two and ELITES!
Veteran Swordsman versus 2 HP Veteran Spear: WINS three to two and ELITES!
Veteran Swordsman versus 1 HP Regular Spear: Wins one to one. Takes Delhi. We control the Oracle! Whoop-de-doo!

Some troops move in to occupy the city and oppress some Indians, some defend one of our banged-up elites. Despite having to move to Madras, that ol' rascal Ghandi refuses to give up any of his precious cities.

Turn 10-400 AD: Barbarian horseman assaults a veteran spear that's scouting. Spear wins and elites. I misclick and one of our veterans doesn't go into Delhi. (Argh) His guards accompany him.

Next Player: I know it's bad form, but there's two go-to orders in effect. There's two or three swordsmen marching north. A settler is heading for a hill- if he plops down there in two turns, he'll claim eleven tiles for us instead of the usual nine. I also have one horseman headed for Chartres- he can scout the island and limit Indian expansion, if there is any.

Looks like a coup d'etat!

Looks nice. :goodjob: You really smashed 'em, right?

So, there IS an island somewhere... I guessed it, we had such a big portion of the land, but we didn't have nearly enough land... I guess we'll need to take a few settlers to that place, too.

Sort of. They've got three cities left. Two continental cities and one island city.

Suggest we don't bother about the island city unless it's on a big island...we need to keep one Indian city anyway

Heya! I'll take this if no one minds

I'd prefer if you took the Greek one now, then I can play my turn in this one quickly and we can be back to you in this one...did that sound sensible?

Inherit turn, move sliders to 9.1.0 so at least we're researching a tech, construction in 22 at 46gpt. Change some production around as we still need workers badly. I think we ought to keep production of the former French area to workers because they are wayyy to corrupt to build anything else. We probably do need an FP in the area. Once the war is about over, we may considering researching and switching to Republic, to help with the culture effort.

IBT

Washington sword > sword
Beijing horse > settler
Orleans worker > worker
Tsingtao settler > courthouse

410AD (1): 6 swords move towards Madras. You know, we really do have enough money, change sliders to 4.6.0. Construction in 5 at 6gpt.

Shanghai sword > spear
Shantung worker > worker

420AD (2): 3 swords move to Bangalore.
Battle against Madras
Vet sword wins against reg spear 1:3
Vet sword loses to reg spear 4:1
Vet sword loses to reg spear 4:1, spear promotes
Vet sword wins against vet spear 1:2, and we take Madras

IBT
Nanking horse > harbor
Chinan worker > worker

430AD (3): Start moving workers to cut down forest. This will help with temple production so we start getting more tiles. Move slider to 5.5.0, Construction still in 3

Battle against Bangalore
Vet sword wins against reg spear 3:3
Elite sword wins against reg spear 0:3

IBT

Beijing settler > spear
Shanghai spear > sword
Calcutta worker > temple, and resistance ends
Tatung worker > temple

barb horse sighted coming from NW tip of island

440AD (4): Paoting founded. Amazing, the Indians are in the middle ages and ahead of us in tech (oh well, no use for them).

IBT: barb horse dies on spear, palace expansion

450AD (5): have settlers head towards NW point of island.

IBT: we get construction, go into middle ages. Research Republic at 1.9.0, will get it in 8 turns at -8gpt. Uh oh, we got massive barbarian uprisings near Ningpo

Washington sword > spear
Beijing spear > settler
Shanghai spear > harbor

460AD (6): move some spears towards Ningpo to fend off the barbs.

470AD (7): change sliders to 2.8.0, Republic still in 7, at -1gpt. Begin moving the swords in the former Indian territory over to the former French territory where they can be boarded and sent to the other island. We need some spears up there though to replace those swords.

IBT: New York harbor > galley
Oh lord, we have 20+ barb horses heading in.

480AD (8): nothing

IBT: We fend off the barb horses, but lose 2 spears and a horse. OUr remaining spear is elite and was at 1hp, close call...

Beijing settler > library
Nanking harbor > galley

490AD (9): hire tax collector in Delhi to prevent rioting

Washington spear > library
Shanghai harbor > aqueduct
Canton temple > library

500AD (10): nothing much

Ok guys, we don't really need to build military anymore, mostly just temples and settlers. Keep cutting forests guys, get those shields towards the corrupt cities to build temples! Switch to either monarch or republic soon, so we can cash rush culture buildings.

here's the link

Umm... nope. :p j/k

Well, I think we'll do fine if we get our whole continent we now are on, it should be enough.

I'll grab the Greek one on Sat, but I will probably play only 5 turns since I have to study for semester exams. Anyways, I don't have the most recent version of mapstat but mine is saying we need 114 more tiles. We should be able to get this amount without building too many cities on the other island. Build coastal cities and rush temples/libraries so we graph those coast/sea tiles.

OK, Dominix, well done mate!

We need to pray that there's no iron on that island, or else there there'll be PIKEMEN awaiting us. That's why I was producing horsemen in some cities- in case we need knights. Here's my thinking:

Take peace from Ghandi for his techs and money, more emphasis on the techs. We need to colonize the northern tip of our contient like mad, then move against Ghandi's island city(ies) with knights. I'll check Mapstat when I get home in an hour or so, see where we stand. :)

We need 114 more tiles, guys.

114 divided by nine tiles = 12.6 or 13 more cities.

I do not recall if there was iron on the island, but Ghandi does not have Feudalism yet so there is nothing to worry about for now. In any case, since they are down to only one city, I think most of their efforts will be spent on expanding then military building. We have enough swords (18) to take on even a small pikeman defense, so no problems on military. We should take peace with them once we get into Republic, but alas I don't think there are any techs to money to be had (he's broke I believe).

Hmm... Then just make peace, we need it for a while, until we know how much land we need after our own continent has ben totally settled.

Anyone object to getting some military to whack some barb camps in the unsettled area?
