Wiz05 - Basic OCC

Coulda sworn I posted a got it message, guess not though. So.......... got it.

Sorry, didn't have a chance to play it last night with the playoffs & such. Good thing there's no classes today. :D

Expect the post in an hour or so.

Boo carolina and NE. Terrible.

Blashpemy!!

Hah ;)

I'm just sad that Green Bay didn't make it. They have been my team for a long time.

Sorry bout the delay guys! After my last  filled post I tried to spice this one up some, enjoy!

Flight Check- Military Report: “Military?? What’s this evil sounding foreign word you speak?”, our domestic advisor questions. “We have some peasants with shovels & axes.”

Diplo Front: We’re up multiple technologies on everyone he proudly responds.

IT- That nice, peaceful fellow wants to trade territory maps. We agree, provided he throws in a single coin. He does, and a very tasty vegetable curry to boot.
Persia completes Pyramids in Persepolis.

1- I decide to send a single warrior out on a mission to eradicate those horrible warlike barbarians.

2- Sell our territory map around to everyone, netting us 8 gold & some smiles.

3- Our harbor completes & we start on a ship to spread the news of our glorious peaceful lives to any other tribe we haven’t yet met.
Our warrior sends a note back to town stating he’s lost & has no idea where any barbarians live. “Keep searching south,” we pen back, “We’ll name our first vessel in your honor.”
Our workers complete a road bringing back wonderful creatures called horses to our pacifist city, they’re amazingly beautiful & really fun to ride. We scoff at the armor clad gentleman who adds that we could train warriors to ride them which would be very effective in combat.

4- Our Golden Age ends & people upset with this news start a small fire in the village. What fickle mindset the masses have.

5- Ha! We spot one of those horribly filthy barbarians already! Bartholomew quickly pummels him & spots their encampment.
We request a meeting with our friend Mao to the north, and he brings word of amazing knowledge of “paper money and bridges.” While I don’t know what that means, it sure sounds cool! We resist the urge to give him what we know for it, with our Glorious Library our scholars will discover them on their own very shortly.

6- As predicted our amazingly adapt people figure out & explain to me the basic ideas of Currency & Construction. They also quickly agree that we’ve moved into an new era of scientific knowledge, though they’re not really sure what that means either, however they point out that we’ve also mastered Monotheism because of this. Gotta love those wonderful people down at the library.

With this news, there is much rejoicing in the streets & the people quickly begin building a courtyard in front of our cave.

More good news!! The SS Bartholomew is completed, we begin work on another and promise to name it after the head scholar who made those startling discoveries.

7- We hear word that the Persians are starting a monstrous wall around their city. What is the point of that? We wonder to ourselves, all are welcome to see the beauty of Moscow, like those fine Persian & Chinese gentlemen who are making almost constant visits to our lands.
Bartholomew arrives at the Barbarian camp & quickly dispatches it’s occupants. The nearby town pays him a reward of 25 gold, very thrilled to be rid of this constant threat.

8- Our scholar comes up with an idea to make us the King, and everyone else our lowly servants. Blasphemy! We wish for everyone to be happy & have a say in what goes on here. He also quickly points out that he drew up a plan for the most glorious Garden ever imaginable, when he notices my growing scowl. That’s more like it! I send him off to try and write up a design for an awe inspiring chapel to sit behind our garden, but tell him not to rush himself we’ll be busy for years building the gardens first.

The SS Michael is finished. (Yea, our scholar is named Michael. What of it?;))
The people are thrilled with our idea for a Garden for everyone to enjoy, so they go to work adding a second story to our cave. Which doesn’t resemble a cave anymore, it’s starting to look like a marvelous palace for all to visit & enjoy.

All our neighboring……………. neighbors still haven’t discovered the glories of Literature or Polytheism. Well they don’t have Michael so of course they’re behind. Poor guys.

9- Taking a cue from the Persians, the Aztecs start construction of a giant wall as well. Won’t these backwards leaders ever learn, fighting will get you nowhere except sweaty & bloody. True power is in a book not the sword.

The SS Michael fends off an attack from a barbarian ship, silly barbs.

We wave hello, to a pair of Chinese merchants trekking across our lands looking to found a new town. But they decline our invitation to come see the splendors of Moscow.

10- In what is truly a sad day, the nicest of our neighbors wishes to defend himself as well & starts the construction of what is being known as “The Great Wall” around his cities as well. We point out that if he doesn’t fight anyone it is completely unnecessary, but he’s too busy lugging giant stones to bother listenting.

The SS Bartholomew starts its perilous journey through uncharted waters.

11- No word back from the SS Bartholomew, we’re starting to assume the worst. We send the SS Michael out to investigate.

12- Our cultural borders grow again, spreading word of our peaceful lifestyle to nearby towns. Not to be outdone by neighboring leaders our people quickly add a spire to our palace.

Still no one has bothered learning Literature or Polytheism, declaring them worthless due to them strengthening the mind & not the arm. Sad backwards fellows, hopefully soon they’ll learn the errors of their way.

Our peasants form a barricade to the south, they want those nice Chinese to stay protected within our borders, we don’t want to be responsible for them leaving & something happening, we’d feel terrible!

13- A brave villager to the south sets up a colony for extracting something he calls ‘dyes’ from the plants in that region. Colorful clothing treated with these dyes become all the rave in Moscow, and our people are thrilled.

14- We lose track of the SS Michael as well, we promise to build an SS Michael II as soon as we’re finished with our garden to search for survivors.

15- Xerxes sends word that he’s spotted Bartholomew inside his boarders and wishes him to leave. What?? We were just spreading word of a truly pacifist lifestyle & hoping to make your cities safe from those warlike barbarians.

**End o’ Turn Report**
*Everything looks great so far.
*The Chinese spear/settler pair is trying to get to our dyes, you can use the 3 workers to give him the run around until someone else settles on them.
*Bartholomew is continuing south searching for encampments to pillage. Xerxes might be slightly peaved when asking him to leave again, just gift him our TM & a few coins or something to shut him up. We won't have to treck across his land for 2 turns anymore.
*Theology due in 31 with a single scientist, HG due in 9(the city is starving but HG will be complete long before it loses a pop point.)
*After HG completes I’d churn out a couple galleys to try and discover the 2 remaining Civs followed by a either a market for more money, or a cathedral for happiness/culture(although I think our happiness issue will be resolved once HG completes, the culture is always nice.) I’d most likely go with the cultural buildings first.

That’s all folks!!

Aight got it. ;)

I just looked through the thread, and couldn't find anything about our victory? I guess you guys want to go cultural?:)

A cultural victory would be the most likely path at this point although diplomatic is still possible. In either case, we would continue with building wonders and improvements over more units.

Sorry guys, my computer does not want to accept the fact that the CIVIII CD is in the CD-rom. Skip me please while I work this out.

Got it, playing very soon. :)

Mao demands literature, I'm not sure if I should refuse or accept... I give it to him this time..

Start up a revolution toward Republic, due in 3 turns. Set Moscow for maximum food during the anarchy, but keep the 1 scientist.
10 AD (1)
Moscow riots (doesn't matter too much in anarchy). I purchase wines from China for the anarchy sales price of 20g.
30 AD (2)
To get something of value from our tech lead, I ship Ghandi Monarchy for WM + 42g. The Indian WM gets us 30g more in map trading.
50 AD (3)
We enter Republic and now make 32gpt after raising science to 10% and firing the scientist. Buy all available embassies for about 250g to keep our neighbors happy.
70 AD (4)
We see a Chinese swordsman destroy an Egyptian spearman, so they are definitely at war. The diplo screen shows that the Egypt-China war is the only one on our continent.
-------
130 AD (7)
The war between China and Egypt continues, while our workers begin mining some of our riverside plains squares (the Republic gave us a large food surplus).
-------
230 AD (12)
Moscow completes Cathedral->Marketplace. The new structure doesn't let us turn off lux tax yet.
250 AD (13)
Persians start Sun Szu.
-------
270 AD (15)
Not much, but I will continue until 300 AD to end on an even year.
-------
290 AD (17)
Moscow completes Marketplace->Colosseum (Sistene Prebuild?). Our income jumps to 50gpt due to the Marketplace.
300 AD (18)
Sell maps around for chump change. The trade advisor says that Persia has iron and spices available for trade. Only 43g for iron? Deal! 2gpt and 7g for spices? Deal again!
The Republic of Moscow

I started the trade deals with China and Persia mainly to keep them happy and help avoid a war. The iron isn't too helpful in itself, but in a worst case situation we could rush pikemen instead of spears. We have 1019g in the treasury with Theology due in 3 turns and a colosseum due in 5. Sun Szu is being constructed in Persepolis, but there should be no competition for Sistene. The other wonders worth persuing for an OCC in the middle ages are the science wonders (Copernicus/Newton) and Shakespere's, so after Theology I would continue min science on Printing Press (towards the Free Artistry line).
