[WONDER] Blue Mosque

@ Pouakai - where did you get graphic for your avatar? It might be good for Parthenon button. :)

hey bro very nice work. good to hear from you

Hello :) Any plans for Civ5 Second Revolution?

What ever happened to the CN tower

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CN_Tower

Well, It was beaten on to do list by Burj Khalifa :p

Looks really great! ESP the wondersplash!
About your wonderlist:
Neu Schwanstein should definitely be an industrial era wonder as the construction started in 1869 (IIRC there was even one of the first German telephones there)
If you plan to add Panama Canal you could also add Suez Canal (a nation should be able to construct only one of them).

Steam Power tech for this wonder?

Panama Canal would be cool, tough it requires some serious codin to have cool effect.

Anyone wants to form company to make new wonders? I would provide graphics, the other team mate would do the code for new effects for Wonders

I cropped it from the Classical era popup.

Would you be interested in trying some Natural Wonders at some point as well?

I think this should be:
<Building_YieldChangesPerPop>
<Row>
<BuildingType>BUILDING_BLUE_MOSQUE</BuildingType>
<YieldType>YIELD_CULTURE</YieldType>
<Yield>50</Yield>
</Row>
</Building_YieldChangesPerPop>

Am I missing something? From what I can tell, Culture isn't a Yield in this game. Only Food, Gold, Production, and Research. (See CIV5Yields.xml, which doesn't have a YIELD_CULTURE.) That's why it's hard-coded as a separate entry in each table, just like Happiness. It's one of the things I most wanted to add, though, along with YIELD_HAPPINESS.

But otherwise, nicely done.

@Poukai - Yes, but right now it's impossible to add custom 3d graphics on the map.

@Spatzimaus, you're right. Well I need to release v 3.0 :p

im thinking on it. im gonna wait tho till there is more unit art. the technique for translating unit from civ4 to civ5 too tough for me.

but its good to see you. alot of other modders do not want to give up civ4. to a point of contention for modcast.

These might make better 'Unique National Wonders' *ponder*

Thanks for adding yet another idea for me for my TC *glare*... :p

Yeah good idea for national wonder.

@Garet20
OK in free time I'll take a look at trajans column.
The XML isn't the problem - I need soemeone to do the new effects (I'm not even sure if it's possible)

I had an idea for the Neuschwanstein Castle because it is true it was built well into the industrial age but it has a very preindustrial feel. I thought it would be interesting if you had it as connected with one of the last renassaince technologies like Military Science. And have it cause a golden age which ends as soon as they enter the Industrial age.

Hi I cannot upload it to mod browser in game - unknown error. So the mod is availalble in cfc only right now.

Although Dubai's economy was built on the oil industry, currently the emirate's model of business, similar to that of Western countries, drives its economy, with the effect that its main revenues are now from tourism, real estate, and financial services. The large scale real estate development projects have led to the construction of some of the tallest skyscrapers and largest projects in the world such as the Emirates Towers, the Burj Khalifa, the Palm Islands and the world's second tallest, and most expensive hotel, the Burj Al Arab. Burj Khalifa, known as Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration, is the tallest man-made structure ever built, at 828 m. The building officially opened on 4 January 2010, and is part of the new 2 square km flagship development called Downtown Dubai near Dubai's main business district.

The Burj Khalifa gives +1 production and +3 gold on water tiles and additionaly Great Merchant unit.

Available in english and polish language.

I was scared during a certain time that ciV graphics would be too great of a challenge for the modding community. asioasioasio's work proves me wrong.

I would like to find out how you managed to get those done in photoshop though.

How about a space elevator for a future era wonder? I would also like to see the original ancient world wonders like the Arthemis temple and the Hallicarnassus mausoleum added in a mod but I guess these will be on an expansion or DLC soon enough.

Thx :)

I mix two methods.
Check this tutorials:
http://bmcphotoart.com/photoshoppaintingtutorial.php
and
http://10steps.sg/tutorials/photoshop/transform-photo-into-watercolor-painting/

1. Find or create good photo.

2. From the first tutorial you can download and install action file (it's available at the end of document) - it saves a lot of time. Do all the steps from action (if needed couple of times several times) except the last one. We'll return to it later.

3. From the second tutorial i learn how to use smart blur and outline effect. Steps 1, 2a and 2b. the effects aren't so strong tough. For smart blur i don't remember settings, and for step b i set opacity to multiply 30-40%.

4. From second tutorial i just also idea how to imitate painting effect. We need oil painting not watercollor painting so you need to do this other way.
Add mask for created image in step 2 and smart blured in step 3 (our painting layer) and fill it with dark gray color. The image should be barely invisible now. Now from the second tutorial use the hints about brushes. Use white color for brush and paint it on the mask. Of course you can epxeriment with brushes and theire settings. I notieced that the best effect is with dry brushes with different settings of opacity and flow.
General rule is the smaller the brush the higher opacity it should have. And if dryer the brush is the less flow it should have. If you have tablet it's also helps imitate painting.

5. Add new layer. You can add additional stuff to help imitate the effect. First eye drop - pick color. And paint rougly with dry brush - that will give visible effect of brushes' hairs - check the sky in blue mosque and burj khalifa. You can add just a little bit shadow and/or higlight to add 3d effect of paint - I didn't did this tough in previous two images, tough i think it could look great.

6. I resize image before this step to around 1600x1200. Merge all the layers and I play the last step from the action from tutorial #1. It should give canvas and underpainting effect.

I'll post some screenshots when I'll find time to do the next world wonder

Thanks for your work asio. The Burj is nice (I still prefer the mosque)! Also the links to the tutorials were quite useful (Took some time to follow them, as I use GIMP instead of Photoshop) as I learned much even though my pc crashed before I could safe anything :(
Do you know if there is a description/tutorial around here how to come from an image to the required .dds file? It would also be interesting to know which files are needed by a mod to be functional and their properties.
