I agree. And after they've added the option to preserve forest it's OK with me. However, at certain crucial points of the game, particularly the early game, they need to be manually controlled because the computer won't know what exact strategy one wants to implement. But once the game gets deeper I'll at least set a few workers to build trade network, which saves a lot of time.
