Worker Flavour Units

@ All : Thanks for the compliments! Although I'm starting to run out of ideas for new flavour workers now..
:run::eek: Oh no! This can't be happening!
I've got a few, though ;):
Mongol worker
Medieval Indian worker
Native/Meso-American worker

What should they look like? No idea!

Hmm good ideas, I'll make a Meso worker, and probably a Mongol worker. The Indian medieval one isn't necessary but if there's nothing else than it's good :)

I think the work boats already have modern graphics but I could see about making them more diverse :)

Nono, I didn't mean the modern workboats, but the little (sail)fishing boats on worked watertiles. It would be nice if those had a modern graphic at the very least. Think you can swing that? Perhaps a model you could use is the modern whaling boat?

I'll have a look to see if it's not too hard to do :)

Geomodder, is this the type of thing you mean?

I can also do this for the modern whaling boat. The problem is the coding - I can't figure out where in the XML you can create age-specific art for the improvements. It's surely possible, since windmills and such change art in the modern times.

Aye, that's exactly what I meant! For the coding problem, it can (in Warlords and Civ4 at least) only be useful if there are open links/tags to the graphics engine similar like the windmills and landworked improvements have. So (small chance) it will switch graphics if we use the correct filename. Another possibility is that it will change graphics if it is put in a correct folderstructure like between the ancient -and modern whaling boats.
Oh, and please convert the modern whaling boat for sure! It's the perfect one for the modern times.

Well, I've found out how to change the boats at Medieval and Industrial ages. It was in the CIV4PlotLSystem.xml.

The problem is, now I can't find out how to change the fishing boat improvement - it's just plain not in there
I'll try to figure that out later. When I'm done I'll release it all as a mod component.

Great! I didn't realize this part was open to xml. :goodjob:
I assumed it wasn't because the non-improved worked land graphic can't be altered by linking to other graphics. The graphics themself have to be replaced there.

I know where it is. Check in Assets/Art/Structures/Improvements/Waterworked. The name of the file is "waterworked.nif".

If you don't find it in your copy, perhaps you didn't extract the .fpk file? (completely)

for a long time I have not been between units. I can see now, this thread is very good. Can I somewhere download new whaling boat too?

Any news on a the workers I requested? Don't mean to be impatient but... :mischief:

Lol haven't started them yet sorry. I just finished some orc units and now I want to try and make a mechanical unit for a challenge.

I should be getting BtS very soon now I know it's been released so I'll look at the workers in that and decide what ones to make next :D
