Would the world be a better place if our looks were determined by our personality?

Would the world be a better place if how beautiful or ugly you looked was determined by how good and kind of a personality you had? So very good people looked amazing and jerks looked ugly? I think it would make the world a much happier place.:) You see people like beautiful people more, think more of them, and treat them better, this would be a form of global justice.

Edit: Remember, your looks would be determined by your personality, not the other way around. Also your looks could change if your personality does.

Edit2: Please don't thread-jack with posts about how unrealistic this scenario is. I know it's unrealistic, that's why it's simply hypthetical.

Reminds me of Shallow Hal.

And yes, I think it would be a much better place. In the end, we often end up judging people on the way they act; but the world would be better if we could tell earlier.

How sad would it be. The direct consequence would be that all our lives would be determined at birth... bye bye self-determination and democracy. :(

Why do you beleive that? I don't understand.
Everything is determined by your face. If you're good looking, then you're a nice person, if you're bad looking, then you're an evil person. There's no way to change, You're born bad, you remain bad. This sounds very fascistic to me.

I think it's the other way around. (at least how I understood it) If your a nice person, you'll become beautiful......

The personality changed the appearance, not the other way around.

It would be even more better if society does not place importance on looks.

Well now that I think about it, that might be a good ide.......NAAAH!

 No i dont think it'd be better at all, it'd take the mystery out of things, you could just look at someone and know their personality pretty much. Wheres the fun in that?

Well, it's not like personalities are on a linear scale between good and bad.

No but what if someones really charitable whilst another is really loyal does that still equal out as being the same 'nice enough' to be deserving of better looks?

Just because someone is evil does not mean they'll turn out ugly. I mean look at Command & Conquer.
You got the evil Kane, but he's a decent face to look at. (Yes I know the game is fiction, but if you want, give me a real life example)
Then you got ugly people who are good in their alignment. I wouldn't know a few, but there are bad people out there who have the looks

So yeah, if someone was evil, they're not always going to be ugly. Anyway, if looks were determined by personality, I'd be a mixed bag and besides, it wouldn't really work. What would a happy woman look like compared to sad one? What about suicidal? It wouldn't happen.

I still don't really understand the question. This is to the best of my knowledge

Instead of all the school kids trying to look pretty like the "popular" kids, they'd all try to be ugly like them. Ugly would be the new cool/pretty or whatever.
Wished that happened, Otherwise I would not be preoccupied and self concious of my apperance.

Well, since different people have different standards of beauty, I could argue that what you are proposing is already the case.

You can see it in people's eyes and in their smiles if they are good people. If there's a smile and the eyes aren't smiling back... exercise caution.
