I went with the joke option, but seeing that Downtown wouldn't be coming, I guess that amounts to the "no" option.

But I actually chose the joke option because I think it is a good fit in this case. I might consider if, but only if at least some of the people who were going were people I knew quite well and was confident I would still get along with many years into the future. I don't think I'd sign up for it with no idea who would be going. After all, you'd probably be stuck with these people for the rest of your life.

It's a bit different than moving to a new city. With a new city, you can always move back if it turns out to be horrible, and you'll have vacations, too. Going to a new world, there really isn't any coming back.

I'd do it only if it increased my chances of finding a mate. Because right now, competition for mates where I live is fierce. I would endure hardship to live my life with another.

I said maybe. For me it depends who I go with. Realistically, whether or not you like the people you're stuck with the rest of your life and whether or not you're emotionally intimate with them has a massive influence on your happiness level. If I got to hand pick my allies or was assigned to go with people I had grown to know and love over training, then sure I'd go. If I was to be sent with randoms or people I had no connection with, then I'd pass the opportunity.
