Would you?
Remember, you have no blood relation with the other person, so its not like going out with your cousin or something. Just someone who's sibling is married to one of your siblings, or something along that line.

I don't think I would, not because of morale reasons, but because I want my girlfriend to have her own family, not share mine.

Edit: I meant non-blood relative, not in-law, that's what I get for posting a thread when I'm dead tired.
If only a mod could change the poll title...
Sorry for the mistake.

Er, wouldn't "in-law" imply that one of us is already married?

Good lord what a terrible trend I have begun.

No, I wouldn't date my in-laws, since it would imply I am married.

But if it was my brothers in-laws, probably, because there is a really hot person in that family.

I can't change the poll question, if a mod could....

Son/daughter, father/mother in law, though it is probably extremely uncommon. And what do you call an in-law's sibling? Cousin in law?

I wouldn't date a relative, even if they were non-blood, no. Though if they were agiant radioactive monkey on the other hand....

I dunno, its kinda complex considering what my church considers "incest" don't quote me on this, (I could be dead wrong, its been a while since I heard about this stuff) but you are not allowed to marry brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, aunts, or uncles, or any of your wifes relation as close. The wierd thing being, cousins are considered fair game (which makes sense really, if your looking at it from a gene pool perspective, the cousins are the ones who must have the most new genes, if the rule is observed, your cousins father or mother, will always be some one sufficiently removed from your family genetically so as to not risk genetic defects, destroying family ties and such)

Now I have NO idea of the scripture proofs for this (though I do know that jacob married 2 of his cousins :crazyeye: )

I think if I was in the process of dateing/courting someone, I would want it to be far enough away so as to not have many major ties with my own family.

Everyone in my family is adopted, so basically, since my sister is non-blood, I would probably date her; but I can't because "puritan values/beliefs" get in the way

(I live in America, which is ridiculously religious, so I have to obey the laws. )

Actually, I wouldn't mind dating my brother in laws sister... (My sisters, husbands, sister)

Thanks Pluto - I was hoping at least one of these civ-fanatics would recognise it!;)

BTW, its my fave too!:)

I wouldn't mind, but it's impossible. Everyone is a blood relative, and every single marriage is actually incestous (albeit, at a very discreet genetic distance.)
You had 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents [...] 32 generations ago: 4.3 billion ancestors. So did everyone else. Only there weren't that many people around 800 years ago. (assuming one generation=25 years.) And it gets much worse before that again.

Nope. After all, things can't seriously get down to people in your family (even though you have no blood in them).

Yes, it's reasonable, but No, I wouldn't.

My reasoning is that I would like to gain a family, not just add within.

I used to date my ex-husband's step-father's sister's ex-husband and I'm currently married to my fourth cousin. Um, what was the question?

If I call someone a cousin and someone else calls that someone a cousin, I don't think I can date that someone else.

Remember the ostrich people in africa?
