Would You Eat This?

Don't people look at what they're buying? Here colours don't seem to correspond to the flavour and it doesn't seem to be a problem. (i.e. red can be ketchup or bbq or something spicy or)

My policy on ordering at the pub bar was:

I will have a pint of this (pointing to the beer tap) and a green packet of crisps, please.

The latter was usually cheese and onion.

That's a fun cultural oddity! If you can call it that

I can't see anyone here doing this here, because green could be a variety of different flavours. I mean, unless you are standing by the counter and there are green or red containers of chips, then it's obvious you are pointing to what you want by saying "Green"

I see what you mean. The way my ex-roommie described this, in the U.S. (or rather the parts of the U.S. he was familiar with) green was always the same flavour no matter where you went, so there was a 1 to 1 correspondence there, and as such you couldn't introduce a ketchup flavour unless you came up with a non-red colour for the bag (that wasn't already used up by another colour). In your case it sounds like it's just a case of there being only 1 green bag, so by saying "green", it's obvious what you mean.

And again, I am not saying my ex-roommie was right about this.

Colors are a general guide, but it varies by brand. Lays pretty much sets the standards (they also own doritos)

Generally (most brands), but not always:
Sour Cream and Onion-green
Cheese-Orange
Flamin' Hot/Spicy-Red
BBQ-Brown or black
Dill pickle-light green
Jalepeno-Dark green
Blue is ranch, salt and vinegar or other various flavors (this one is less consistent)

Pringles- Original is red, BBQ in purple, Memphis BBQ in brown
Lays-Original is yellow, BBQ in black

Let's just grab all the colors!

Colour coding not harcoded as it can vary by brand.

Light Green. Green/spring onion.
Red ready salted
Yellow. Chicken.
Salt and vinegar. Dark green.
Brown. BBQ
Sour cream and chives. Blue or purple.

If any chip in a can/tube is usually lame and lacks flavor.

I also like the Bacon and cheese Shapes
Normally pick up a few when they go on sale

They ran a limited ed flavors this year as well, all huge fails
Only the Vegemite and cheese flavor which ran last year was good

Shapes are decent. I'll insult Aussie beer but can't do it to Arnotts and wine.

Why don't they offer chips with 50% more flavoring powder on them?

I'd totally eat Dorito Nacho Cheese Deluxe or Dorito Cool Ranch Deluxe.

Sorry, if I see a chip that's green, I assume it's gone moldy. :ack:

I am surprised no one has mentioned Red Rock Deli chips. I love those.

Although I also discovered a false memory of mine, where I thought lime and pepper chips are good, but they're not.

They're good but how many countries have them?

I would try the Potato and Gravy crisps. I wouldn't expect them to knock my socks off, but it's a lot less odd than I was expecting. Potatoes are what crisps are made of, so it's basically regular + gravy.

I had some honey mustard crisps in 2019 that were fantastic. Looking at the local selection, it probably was Kettle brand Honey Dijon. Though one of the local store brands also has some pretty good flavors, and had a Honey Dijon, so it could have been the store brand as well. Either way, very tasty, especially with a cookout. But that is as someone who likes honey, dijon, and honey dijon mustard.

But the flavors of crisps I prefer don't always correspond to what I like otherwise. For example, I can't stand dill pickles, but dill pickle crisps? One of my favorites.

Sounds pretty nice and actually quite normal. At least compared to some of the weird gimmicky flavours of crisp I've had the misfortune of trying in recent years, including things like "Prosecco" or "Christmas Tree".
Lost yet another bit of faith in humanity when I - for the first, and luckily also for the last time - saw Prosecco flavored Pringles.

Actual prosecco on the other hand is quite decent..

Protip don't eat Pringles.

We've been try to get more of those chips. Keep selling out.

Some Pringles flavors are quite good. I loved the Hot Dog-flavored ones. It was a bit like a combination of ketchup and bacon, with a hint of a taste like carbon - like it had just been taken off the stick when you have a weiner roast. Sadly they were discontinued.
