Adler17: You were not at war with Turkey because Italy declared the war and initiated the conflict. If Turkey had started the war you would have been dragged in. You may be in a locked alliance but you are only tied to Italy via MPP;they have to be attacked before you get sucked in. I played China and France and the US always got into wars with the Soviets but since they were the initiators I was spared the Red Hordes.
Japan AI is going to use it's fleets in a ahistorical way;we are starting the Pacific War in 1939 not 1941 anyway. Unless Rocoteh completely changed this to start in 1941 we are just going to have to live with the odd naval losses I think. Note that I think a human player can handle things for the most part;I don't know how you can get a Japan AI in this scenario to play well outside of mainland asia.
Rocoteh: About the RR: I am willing to try it with the 8 moves per road, that seems an acceptable compromise. It will cut down on the Soviets enormous advantage of interior lines at least. I think the change is workable, and the lost production due to no RR is not a big deal IMO. I say give it a try.
About the Hidden Nationality issue: Yes, playtest it for sure, but it might work out. The AI nuetrals don't have huge fleets of subs anyway;and the AI in general is very profligate in using up it's navies. The main thing is whether the locked alliance prevents attacks on allies and whether it prevents all those stupid war declarations that send the AI off in unhistoric directions(i.e. US invading South America FIRST!??

Losing a few extra ships here and there should not be a big deal.
Japan playtest, week 40, 1939- 3 more Communist China armor appear and attack!

Where are they coming from??? I've cut their rubber supply but their Oil is out of range. Communist China is MUCH harder for Japan to deal with from what I've seen so far. They are in fact on the offensive and I am just holding them back. I did not start the game with anything capable of taking out their special forts in the eastern cities anyway, except my two SNLF. I've had to destroy two small stacks of infantry and about 5 tanks from C.China so far.
I succeed in taking Borneo, and the island city just to the east of it(Palambay?). Now I need to connect them...I may do the unthinkable and disband navy to build that harbor in Borneo, I need it NOW! UK/FR/NE naval power swarming all around the Phillipines, which I bypassed. Thailand and Italy naval squadrons have been helpful in taking some of them out. US task forces of 4 CV, 3 BB 2 CL and some DD arrive east of Wake and pound Wake and Marcus Islands. 2 UK CA are standing off Marshall Is. and shore bombarding me to death; I have nothing to stop them with. I sank one of the US big carriers, but three remain. US is spread out into 3 squares; if I was willing to sacrifice a BB I could take out the other big carrier(0-14-6 ones).
I had fortified BBs operating about 4 squares off my Home Islands with DDs doing patrols east of there; I had a good large screen going, but this US fleet is going to cause disruptions, I will have to pull it in closer. I am sending 2 CV and about 4-5 BB with escorts to Marcus Is.;if the US gets any closer I will try and crush elements of their fleet.
Building some infrastructure elswwhere, and have a few artillery stockpiling in China. I have mangled their road nets and cut off some resources/luxuries and sitting on some of their big food tiles in the forests, trying to strangle their economies. Once I connect the Oil & rubber fully I will hopefully be ready to produce more offensive units. I need more subs! Losses to date, naval only:
US- 20 DD,12 SS,2 CL, 1 CA, 1 CV
UK- 8 DD, 7 SS, 5 CL, 3 CA, 1 CV
NE + FR- 7 DD, 16 SS, 1 CL, 1 CDS
IJN(me)- 4 DD,12 SS, 3 CL, 2 CA, 1 TR
If more of my fleet had started as veterans this would have been better. Regulars are tough to promote sometimes. I lost a CA attacking a DD;I think the new defense values are working well.

Also, this is the first game I've played with CV and a good air force to start; I love it! CVs rule!
