WW2-Global

Sasebo,

Thank you for the report.

"Round two with the soviets has resulted in a few gains by the Germans, who bypassed Kiev to take Rostov and a couple other cities down there. I took Bhutan and am trying for Ulan Bator to try and relieve some of the pressure on Germany, but who can tell. I dominate the Western Pacific now, but UK and US are starting to build more navy. Big Boys. On the plus side, they don't seem to be building many carriers. The Shokaku class I have been building are just superb!"
Sasebo

I think I will produce a special AI-version for human Japan play where
Germany will be much stronger.

"I am aiming to finish the Chinese, and then drive into either India or Siberia. With a secondary attack at the Dutch East Indies. Trying to protect all the islands I have takes up a lot of my navy, but I am not going to give the allies a free pass at invading. Long term, I don't know how things are going to work out. A lot depends on how Germany fares. Soviets don't have T34s going yet, which is good.

I disagree with Bob1475; the AI is not good at strategic bombing, but they sure know how to devestate your air and naval units if given half a chance. Especially the UK."
Sasebo

I think a major problem with AI is that it can not use artillery
in a relevant way.

"I have gotten Otsus into action and I love them! Just viscious little guys, and so cheap! Though I have to ask why Japan needs to research the Zero, they had that in early '39; it's mid 1940 now and I still don't have the prerequisite tech yet. I can survive without it, but I sure could use some!"
Sasebo

A very interesting playtest.
Thank you and welcome back.

Aloha,

A British Destroyer tried to attack a garrisoned German mech infantry unit in a costal town on the British isles and was destroyed in the process - this seems rather odd to me
Does this destroyed double as a land unit?

Oh some thing else - the soviets always attack Germany or Japan while the bulk of the German forces is busy in England. Is the Ai smart enough to choose its time of attack accordingly? How much of a factor is the Germans record of breaking treaties / declaring war on neutral countries in its decision to declare war on the axis (sub-incidents put aside)?

Thank you in advance :)

Rocoteh -

Still constantly playing your scenerio. I actually created a cool mod where Austria is a fascist ally of Germany. Quite fun. Anyway, just wanted you to know that I'm still playing. Any 2.3 in the works?

Well, I guess this would be a good time for me to come out of the woodwork as well.

Yup, I still play this scenario too Rocoteh. One of only three scenarios to have that honor :king:. Are you still up to working on this or is this the final version of it?

Aloha,

While we are at it, Rocoteh it is thanks to your work that I finally understand the mechanisms of Civ3 much much better than before - not to mention the editor ... all the possible variations of your great scenario :crazyeye:
Next to the obvious amount of work that went into a series of scenarios there is another feature of your work that I admire quite a bit - your politeness to everyone :goodjob:

You are our hero :king:

Aloha,

Ok, this might be slightly off ... what about having a sea recon plane by 1942 for the Allies that can spot U-boats in order to simulate the breaking of Enigma and improvements in sonar/radar technology?

hey guys, when i tried loading this, it got to the screen (with the world all blacked out) and never finished "configuring scenario", any ideas?

Cheers, looks like a great scenario.

Aloha,

Trod, usually this scenario takes a lot of time to load. On my computer it takes at least 5 minutes of a "black world" and this time varies probably according to the system it is running on.
My advice would be, start the scenario and wait for at least 30 min, when the scenario finished "creating" make a savegame. Savegames do not take such long time to load.

The waiting time is certainly worth it!

When I play, it takes an hour. Go watch TV for a bit, or put it on when you go to sleep, and save it in the morning.

indeed, do your shoppings first and then play/save :p

imgrumpy,

I am glad to hear that.

Just come home after being away for a month.
I guess 2.3 will be released in October.

psweetman1590,

That is very good to hear.

My plan is still to release a 2.3 version and after that a graphic update.

Drushba,

Thank you very much for the positive words.
I appreciate them!

Although interest for CIV3 scenarios has decreased its still my
intention to continue to work with this scenario.
I will continue to be away now and then until early October.
After that I will be home almost all the time until late April.

Drushba,

Sounds like a interesting idea.

I will have it in mind for version 2.3.

any chance of porting this to the new civ IV warlords exp pack?

Sinatra,

Since I can not write code its not possible right now.

Given cooperation with someone very competent with code
such a conversion could of course work.

Drushba,

On the British Destroyer:

This really sounds strange! I do not know why it worked this way.

On Soviet attacking Germany or Japan:

Not much have been said from Firaxis on how AI works
in situations like this.
It seems like smart thinking from AI but one can never be sure.

Rocoteh,

Good to see you back!

Adler,

Thank you.

I think its incredible that activity at CIV 3 scenarios still is so
strong with regard to the fact that one year soon have passed
since the release of CIV 4.
