YnAMP - Yet (not) Another Maps Pack

YnAMP - Development thread Civ6

I said it in my previous post, it's actually placeholder number, as scythia is not supposed to be in the map, but I let the entry in case people still want to use them, but the question is, where to place the capital?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scythia

Should be North of Sumerian starting position and South East from Russia ...
South East from here
<Replace>
<Civilization>CIVILIZATION_RUSSIA</Civilization>
<X>78</X>
<Y>62</Y>
</Replace>
North from that
<Replace>
<Civilization>CIVILIZATION_SUMERIA</Civilization>
<X>100</X>
<Y>15</Y>
</Replace>

and should be North East of Yervan, maybe even only north
<Replace>
<Civilization>CIVILIZATION_YEREVAN</Civilization>
<X>93</X>
<Y>36</Y>
</Replace>

__________________________________________________
SOMEWHERE AROUND THAT ...
<Replace>
<Civilization>CIVILIZATION_SCYTHIA</Civilization>
<X>100</X>
<Y>50</Y>
</Replace>

--------
As I don't know how to see the full map , I would have to walk with a scout there :)

Scythia - They should be on the Europe Map, Just North of the Black Sea.

I reinstall everything, even the game. But, i have only Giant Earth map... And TSL doesn't work too...

Sorry, I've no other idea of what could be wrong on your end then.

Can you post your Lua.log after launching a game with the mod please ?

I think the number of City States for the Giant map has issues in version 5 (my guess is thats giant map is set to 20 city states and not 19)
everything is placed correctly apart from 1 random seed out of the 5 european city states that do not have a TSL

1 game I had Amsterdam next to toronto
another game had Geneve next to Lav Venta

Gedemon updated YnAMP - Yet (not) Another Maps Pack for Civ6 with a new update entry:

Alpha .6

Add 3 optional Rulesets adapted to the new very large maps :
  • "Light"
    • Raise Max distance between Civilizations to 30 (from 9)
    • 33% less Barbarian encampment (2/civ, was 3/civ) to reduce time between turns.
    • Min distance to city from camps raised to 7 (from 4)
  • "Medium" (include or replace light settings)
    • Min distance between city lowered to 2
    • 66% less Barbarian encampment (1/civ)
    • Min distance to city from camps set to 5
    • Raised chance of...

Read the rest of this update entry...

Let me know what you think of the settings, the idea with the medium one is to have less barbarians globally, but spawning faster and closer than with the light setting.

The idea with the heavy modification is to (try to) prevent carpets of doom with cities separated by 2 tiles

Sad that you are not working for Firaxis as Gamelead Manager, because there we would already have a patch ... that damn vanilla game is shutting down every 1-2 h for me, that would have been solved already.

Thank you for your great work !

Hey, the Giant map is pretty cool, I don't know how much control you have over resources at this point, but by where St. Petersburg is supposed to be, where the ocean tiles, land, then one lake tile and a river are, even on abundant settings, there aren't any fish on the ocean tiles for a while going west, just crabs. There are also no deer, no truffles, no iron, and no niter anywhere close. I also think the Russians should spawn by that area, so I don't need to travel for six turns to get where St. Petersburg is meant to be.

Just some things to look at, it is a nice map in alpha as it is.

Thank you.
Whoops, I meant there aren't any fish on the coastal tiles by where St. Petersburg is supposed to be. Also the starts for the city-states should be more accurate, and I think there needs to be more movement for every unit, and faster border expansion.

Whatever is possible to be done with these suggestions, the ideas are there.

Thank you again.

HI, i have problems with sheep resources near Egypt TSL on Giant Earth . I cant build pasture on them and i think that AI has problem with it too.

"Min distance between city lowered to 2"

This seems counter-intuitive if the goal of the rulesets is to improve performance. Also not sure the AI will use the opportunity wisely.

That setting is to allow more cities in Europe. Ideally it would be region-linked, but I don't think that can be done without the DLL.

As I tried to notify earlier in Alpha 1 there is missing text in the Mod. Which does not become a problem before moving around in the game meny. At first the text is there as it should be, but if I move to an other section of the meny system and back again. As if after exiting a game and trying to make a new one, the text of the mapmod is missing.

I attached a picture of my meny as when missing the text.

Thanks !

From this log it seems you're using alpha 3 or an older version, please download alpha 5 (links at top right) and replace the old version.

So I did and... how lovely it is to behold the Dead Sea! (As well as seeing Sumer, Kongo, Scythia, Hattusa, etc in the right spot.) :goodjob:

Seeing as TSL is pretty much done now, I have some suggestions. On the Greatest Earth map:

- Cairo/Mecca isn't opposite Sinai, it should (at least) be 1 tile down (I know you placed an Oasis there on purpose, but they will still get that if moved)

- Delhi isn't on the Indus (which would be in Pakistan). it should at least be 1 tile further East

- Aachen isn't Berlin, it's between the Rhine and the Meuse, close to the Dutch/Belgian border (since Germany's leader is Barbarossa that's also far more appropriate than the Prussian capital location Berlin, which basically only played a part since the rise of Prussia).

Otherwise no complaints, I am very much enjoying the map. ;)

First of all, thank you for such a great addition to the game.

On the default setting for resources (Standard?) playing on Greatest Earth, do the resources seem a little sparse? Obviously I can move it up, but if it feels right for everyone I'll play as intended.

Thanks!

Resources are definitely too sparse, in particular luxury resources that are essential for amenities to permit city growth. Gedemon's comments indicate he knows about the problem, at least as far as it impacts strategic resources. I am playing Alpha 5 as Victoria on England w/no barbs and was barely able to construct Stonehenge and it had to be done from a second city on the West coast of England because the only stone is in that area. Even so, there are but 3 luxury resources on the whole of England and Ireland, which won't support much of a population. My scout on the continent tells me things are just as bad there. I think the only solution will be to hand place numerous luxury, strategic & bonus resources on the map so that something like historical resource types and quantities are available to ensure the long term game is playable, even for the AI. Please do not regard my comments as criticism, they are offered in a constructive spirit for what is clearly stated to be a WORK IN PROGRESS. I know that Gedemon is working very hard on this project as are others who know how to use modding tools and are pitching in. All their work is much appreciated.

It'd help if there weren't so few luxury types. I expect it makes placing them in historically accurate locations trickier than otherwise.

Edit: Actually, turns out there's 25 of 'em, which is rather more than I thought. Have never seen half of them in any of my games. Gold is conspicuously absent, though, which would have been handy for Wales.

Im doing a game right now whit the high rules setting. it seems that the 2 tiles city build limit made the AI run amok on emperor. 21 cities after 288 rounds on marathon. (edited for much slower research and twice as fast production of buildings and units so that might be a factor, but before this update AI usually did'nt build much more than 6-9 cities by the time I met them) otherwise I havent run into any problems other than no city states have spawned on the american continent on the giant earth map, I usually get 1 to 3 (buenos aries, le venta or toronto)
