YnAMP - Yet (not) Another Maps Pack

YnAMP - Development thread Civ6

I have hammered the new mods (60+ civs and Ynamp beta .5) for days and
still have not had one crash. They even exit to desktop without freezing.

Is it a problem for Win8 and Win 10 only, or have you had reports of crashes
under Win 7?
Problem is with the maps at Ludicrous sizes with the summer patch, the Giant Earth and other map script at Giant size work fine (except inland sea)

And no crashes at all sizes with the spring patch and YnAMP beta .5

Thanks.
I only experiment with ludicrous size Giant Earth and the maximum
number of civs and city-states, under Win 7 and, as I said, I have had no
crashes port-summer patch using beta .5 or with 60+ modern civs. I have run
them dozens of times for a total of >4 continuous days.

Thanks!

But it seems to be only a bunch of .dds files in there... how do I install it?
Follow the link, click "Clone or Download" then "Download ZIP", then do as usual.
Thanks.

Just a note, as it's maybe not clearly referenced, Earth Map size are fixed, "Giant Earth Map" is "Giant" size, even if you select "Ludicrous" size before selecting the map.

It's fine with at (true) ludicrous size on my machine with the summer patch,
even after revealing the map with Autoplay 3. Or did you use some other method
to reveal map?

I remember seeing some references a while ago to two different sizes, namely
230 x 115 and 230 x 116 in some file.
I don't want to send you on a wild goose chase (I will look at it myself!) but
I hope there isn't a problem with an extra y-coordinate somewhere.

230x115 is the Ludicrous size for map scripts (continent, pangea, fractal, ...)
230x116 is the specific size of the Largest Earth Map

Do you confirm than Ludicrous Continent (or Pangea, Fractal, ... except Inland Sea) or the Largest Earth Map are working on your computer ?

AFAIK you're the only one reporting them working with the summer patch.

I have been able to get it to work twice with all 60 civs, however some turns into the game, between 20-30 I get a CTD with send crash report option. For whatever reason it seems to always load if I choose to play Australian government but then the crash occurs.

If less civs are chosen (I once did 8) the game loaded fine and quickly at that and I played for some time before opting out (was just testing things).

Largest Earth Map. I haven't tried Ludicrous Continent.
It's chugging along quite happily, but man is it a crowded map!

It should be compatible with anything that doesn't change map generation.

I should clarify then. I am talking about Ludicrous aka Largest Earth map. Giant Earth is fine, Largest Earth is the one that loads sometimes but ultimately crashes.

Yes, that's the issue for most people since the summer patch, if the game manages to load a ludicrous sized map, it's unstable.

I've encountered an odd thing when choosing "Ludicrous" for Map Size (after having chosen Largest Earth as Map Type). When I do that, the load between turns becomes rather inconsistent, varying between 20 seconds and a few minutes.

When creating a new game and going immediately to Advanced settings and choosing Largest Earth, I get exactly the same map, but times between turns are constantly around 15 to 20 seconds (played 237 turns in a previous game, Largest Earth, 20 Civs, 36 City-States, Marathon) and never had load problems.

Now (and the two times I did it before), after having chosen "Ludicrous" for Map Size, I had regular 20 sec intervals between turns, until I encoutered two other civs. From then on it went to a couple of minutes with temporary screen freezes when at the end of the turn something extra happened, like the end of a research or an automated scout stumbled on a village...

It's the Barbarians who seem to cause a problem. I see the civ's symbols at the top of the screen bop up and down normally and then see units from the City-States chasing around in their normal fashion. And then the two or more minute(s) wait starts...

So, maybe try with skipping the regualr settings when starting a new game and dirctly go to the advanced settings. There's no difference in map size anyway, as far as I've noticed.

Specs (for those wondering): i7-3770K; AsRock Z77 eXtreme11; 4x4GB RAM @1600MHz; MSI RX-470 GamingX 8GB

They slow the game down too much and make it intolerable for me.

I had one problem with ludicrous size that I have never had before.
The game froze when I tried to load a saved game from within the game.
That's the first time I have experienced a freeze (except on exit).
After rebooting it loaded and played perfectly.

The freezes I encounter between turns are half-freezes, since the music continues and the cursor is moving when shoving my mouse around.

Until now haven't experienced any freezes when loading a save. I need to load saves quite regularly since I still lose partial sound after having roamed around Greenland.

The long loads between turns are completely random. I started some 15 new games in the past 12 hours, doing around 30 turns in each and whatever settings I use, it's hit and miss. Five out of fifteen games had the long loads between turns, the other ten games had around 20 seconds between turns.

Then I added some more mods and I was screwed. Took over ten minutes for the game to start after Mr. Bean's talk and my beard grew two millimeter between each turn. Had a shave and did away with the newly added mods and all was fine again.

Possible bug due to spelling mistake.

GreatestEarthMap/Map.xml
Line 100
CIVILIZATION_CAP_TOWN
instead of
CIVILIZATION_CAPE_TOWN

I don't know where to submit these possible bugs, so here seems as
good a place as any.
