Youtube Embeds don't work without Flash

Youtube requires a Flash player. That means Flash or GNU Gnash. If you're using Gnash, and it doesn't display embedded videos, that's a bug in Gnash.

Youtube works fine without flash using html5, as does embedded youtube in any properly configured install of vbulletin, or any version of vbulletin released within the past couple years.

Plays on my iPad.

Yes, the iPad browser automatically overwrites the embedded flash code and serves the html5 video if available.

However, this wasn't my concern, the problem is that any desktop browser without Flash won't play embedded videos on this forum.

You can see in this thread (from over three years ago) the proper cross-platform html5 way of doing it.

So, od we now have two tags? 'cos bigger videos might be awesome but sometimes the original image is deformed.

I like having two sizes, not all videos linked need to actually be watched (ie music), and its nice to have a larger size for embedded videos since many of them I just ended up watching on youtube because of the size.

Now if only we could get rid of that "not allowed to be played on certain sites" (ie any other site than their youtube channel) bullcrap.

Get a computer!

Does the new youtube work, at least?

Standard YouTube tags work. In the 90's bands thread I asked why people were using the youtube-old tags and mise said YouTube tags don't work on his work computer. In the irrelevant questions thread rugby said (words that parsed into tech mean) that some set of YouTube tags are crashing out his iPad.

Two sets of semi-broken YouTube tags doesn't seem ideal.

And sure I can view the threads on the desktop, but playing the what acoustic are you listening to thread is better done in the living room or kitchen with a phone or tablet jacked to the sterio.

Does the link at the bottom come up at all? The "Link to video"?

On my phone (Nexus 4; Android 4.2; Chrome Beta) if I click on the [YOUTUBE-OLD] links then it opens up in the YouTube app. Same as if I click on the "Link to Video" link below it.

He's not asking how to use them. He's saying, when other people use them, he can't see them.
