ZPNESVI Discussion Thread (Nesse)

In all things we have worked for the good of Nesse. In the Iadean coup, we averted civil war by throwing our full support behind them, rather than leaving you and them fighting in the streets. We turned down the rewards offered, the patronage and position, because we did not wish to be rewarded for what we did. But is was necessary.

The Horned King's prophecies of the death of Kyannur came true, though not in the way we expected. His death was the salvation of Nesse, as we predicted, and it is unfortunate that it was a foreign hand that dealt the blow. It's clear that Nesse enjoys his favor.

EDIT: In response to the Watchmen's new decisions, we will withdraw our Temple Guard outside of Nesse. We'd like to purchase some land from the Outlander clans to establish monasteries on, to house them. Contact us at the giant temple in the middle of the city. You can't miss it.

The continued harrasment and sackings of Iaeda worries us, especially as we have moved a large amount of our business there. If you wish, we are willing to improve/repair the town walls and build other fortifications outside of the town to help prevent further raids, for a very cheap price we might add. ;)

TO: Nesse, the Outlands, and the Outlying Towns

With the relative calming of the region, and the completion of our waterworks project, we seek new projects. While we still have a few of our own, we certainly could use any more, as well as any manufacturing tasks that you might come up with. So, if anyone has any requests for new projects or experimentation, or wishes to invest in current projects (fireproof wood, anatomical research, the hospital, weapons and armor development, further cement research, etc.), feel free to speak up and send your gold!

To: The Fiddler Clan
From: The Silivus Clan

We are interested having the Fiddler Clan provide us with a constant source of their new cement invention for our construction projects, if you are able to get the materials necessary. If it proves efficent, we might in the future be willing to pay the Fiddlers for further research in hopes of creating a even better form of cement.

To: All of Nesse and the Outlands

The strong, skilled stonemasons of the Silivus Clan are currently mostly unemployed at any projects at the moment. If any in Nesse, the Outlands, or the villages have any need for a construction project, whether it be the repairing of houses, building a great mansion, a magnificent temple, or whatever, the Silivus Clan is willing to build it.

We concur with the Fire Clan, Incendia must be re-taken and the impertinent barbs driven out. Clan Masada has in consultation with the Fire Clan been given a quarter and substantial landholdings in and around the soon-to-be reconstituted Incendia for its own use, in exchange for providing troops and funding for the reconquest. With that in mind we should like to contract Silivus Clan for construction of such fortifications, buildings and outbuildings as are required for the new Masada controlled parts of town. We are sure that our friends in the Fire Clan will agree and may provide further contracted work if so required. Silivus Clan would be most welcome to become a partner in this grand venture, as would anyone else interested in pushing the borders of Nesse forward into some of the richest agricultural land thus far!

The Silivus Clan is of couse more than happy to take up the construction of Clan Masada's portion of this new town and we would be equally willing to take up a contract with the Fire Clan for constuction that they may want. If it is needed, we will also build fortifications and a wall around the town, as our masons have a great deal of experience in this.

EDIT: After a review of our finances, the Silivus Clan has decided that they are willing to provide investment in the building of Incendia, in exchange for some sizeable holdings near/in this new town, if that is what Clan Masada means by becoming a partner in this venture. Perhaps our investment can come in the form of providing construction of buildings and fortifications in this town for free.

We agree with the Fire Clan's statement. We demand that an election be held so that a moderator may be legitimately chosen. We have nothing against your clan, but we still want elections to be carried out.

The Fire Clan is more then happy to allow the Silivus Clan a place in its home, Incendia, should they be willing to help rebuild it.

Tito Wolf, current head of the Wolf Clan demands to know why the Wolf Clan was kicked out of Nesse. We need to know what crimes we have committed, if any.

Our veterans, led by the brave and courageous Tito Wolf, helped the Fire Clan drive the Cyrians out of Nesse, our noble leader, Lucius was leaving Nesse to raise an army of experienced Outlander soldiers who served under Lucius in the Golden Battle, (The Golden Tribe Conflict) before being brutally killed by a mob, along with his 5 year old son and pregnant wife, I, Tito Wolf, upon hearing of this... this, atrocity decided it would be better to take my veterans and flee to the south, where I rallied the outlanders that Lucius planned to raise for the defense of Nesse, and settled.

But not all of you were so hostile to the Wolf Clan, therefore we would like to thank many of the Outlander clans for their support, we also would like to thank the Fire Clan for their understanding and willingness to allow me to leave his army with my veterans. (The Cyrians were already fleeing and the war already won, so we did not feel the need to hang around any longer.)

So until we are given the reasons as to why we were banned from Nesse and branded as Exiles, we will continue to protest the treatment of former Elites who has sacrificed so much for the defense of Nesse and expected little in return, only wanting to see Nesse free again.

The Wolf traitors know their crimes. Their connections with the Wolf Barbarians are known, their failed, unauthorized military expedition against the Golden Barbarians stained the honor of the city, and their deserters shed innocent Nessan blood with the Cyrians.

Also, you were manifestly incompetent at every endeavor you turned your attention to. And it is incompetence that we cannot stand.

From: Scipio Incendia of the Fire Clan
To: House Ìademos

Our two clans have always been friendly to each other. You housed and supplied our men when we were building Incendia, and we protected Iaeda from being destroyed when the Rouge attacked. Because of this, we will begin with diplomacy.

You have usurped the elected Moderator and replaced him with a man of your own clan, without elections, approval or regard for our city. Your clan has tainted the city of Nesse with its actions. The Fire Clan has always believed strongly in the importance of democratic process in Nesse, and in the right of the people to be led by their choice of leader. You have spat in the face of our beliefs by essentially enacting a coup during a time of crisis. We do not support any Moderator not elected by the people, and will work towards your fall until you step down and proclaim elections.

We are unsure of what the good and noble warriors of the Fire Clan are referring to. In eliminating the traitorous Alya and Wolves, who were consorting with Exiles and barbarians, we were acting in the name of Moderator Dicchus. We have not replaced him. By all means, go to the Senate and see that all is well!

My friends, in fact Moderator Dicchus knew of our plans, and supported them for the good of the city. We act for this city, always. Our clan and others were simply fed up with the incompetence of the Alya and Wolves, who led us into countless failed military engagements and disastrous failed diplomatic negotiations.

We stand for competence, loyalty, honor, and the city of Nesse. As do you.

OOC: Re-read the update. The Moderator wasn't replaced and tacitly approved what we were doing.

Absolutely. We insist on paying the Silivus full price for their assistance, but if you wish to contribute further to the defense of Iaeda, the City Guard can always use more volunteers.

As Elites of Nesse, we wish to propose several important matters for the consideration and discussion of the Senate:

MILITARY REFORM: The separation of offensive and defensive armies under separate commands needs to be altered. A permanent standing army with cavalry and siege support needs to be formalized, and a series of military bases constructed on our borders to prevent enemy incursions. The outmoded chariots currently in use need to be replaced with horseback riders, who we have heard are superior warriors. Superior-quality arms and armor need to be issued to our troops, and standard training programs established.

Finally, limits should be placed on the size of Elite private warbands, in return for allowing Elite forces to be integrated into the larger military under Elite commanders.

LEGAL REFORM: The distinction between Nesse and the Outlands blurs further. We propose that the Magistracies have their authority extended to the territories surrounding their jurisdiction, the number of Magistracies be increased, and Outlander clans be given Nesser citizenship, votes in the elections, and the opportunity to serve as Magistrates. This will build ties with the Outlands and increase our ability to expand by appointing new Magistrates.

TRADE REFORM: The city of Nesse is becoming stagnant. We require the construction of an armed trading fleet, not beholden to any corrupt clan but to the city itself, larger marketplaces, and the elimination of all customs tolls, to be replaced with a more manageable market tax.

EXILE SITUATION: We now see that Exiles have openly cooperated with elements of the Sea Kingdom to land their warriors on the sacred grounds of the City itself, with the aim of destroying Nesse entire. We must plan a punitive expedition against these Exiles, and their share of trade redirected to Nesse. Barring that, a full reconciliation and tribute payments should be rendered. This situation requires further discussion among the Elites.

REPRESENTATION: Nessers should be given a larger role in government, though it should remain limited. Perhaps granting all citizens the right of proposal or petition should be considered. We still support only Elites sitting as Senators, but the commoners need to have more say in their governance.

The Justo Clan is against any proposal to bring Nessean law to the Outlands. Elites will not dictate what the Justo Clan can and can't do on its pastures and vessels.

ALYA
to Iademos
We were considering if we should answer the evil that you spew. We have decided to do so. You dare call Alya traitorous? incompetent? Alya has supported the armies of Nesse against the wolf barbarians more then any other clan, we have given the largest number of men to that war. Then against the Cyrians we risked our own lives in diplomacy attempts with them, not to mention the massive financial losses we have been through trying to have enough men in order to fight them.

YOU are the traitors. You are the ones who went against the rules of Nesse. A moderator can't exile by himself. We are not technically exiles for being exiled means an elite vote, and one never happened. The only reason our people live outside of Nesse is because the evils of the horned death and of the pitiful scribes is strong and their attempted murder of our people is never to be forgotten.

Alya were the first to support the scribes joining Nesse. We should have known better then to let evil into our homes. We shall not rest nor stop until evil is cleansed from the streets of Nesse.

We demand to be shown proof Alya were criminals. And may I remind you all that not long before the "exile" we were checked by the guards of Nesse for criminals and proven non-guilty. Alya is a beacon of wisdom and good. Never could anyone have proof we have done wrong.

We see no need to further respond to the rantings of exiles. Perhaps if the Alya wish to atone for their crimes, the Senate will discuss restoring their citizenship. But a full examination of their loyalty will have to be made.
Iademos are NOT the senate. Before being punished in the rules of Nesse one must be shown proof for his crimes. Prove it horned demons. Your pitiful response proves that you are nothing by insane power hungry dogs.

See that citizens of Nesse? Insane power hungry dogs are taking control over your city!

EXILE SITUATION: We now see that Exiles have openly cooperated with elements of the Sea Kingdom to land their warriors on the sacred grounds of the City itself, with the aim of destroying Nesse entire.
Update said:
the Red Sail fleet soon unloads reinforcements including the Harambi and Orashite warriors.

The Red Sails become openly hostile to the 'Princedom' of Oran. But without Cyrian support, the ambitions of Red Sails are cut short and they are unable to fulfil promises made to the Harambi and Orashites, who are left facing a long struggle with the Moon Shadow and Orange clans. The Blue Sails send what little help they can to Oran. After years of struggle, the Harambi and Orashites are evacuated and given new lands by the Red Sails.

It is clear, that those "exiles" that worked with Red Sails got killed by either 'Oran Militia' (Moon Shadow Clan+ Orange Clan) or by the Glorious warriors of Nesse. Moon Shadow Clan believes that Nesse should rebuild and recover from war, instead of chasing and attacking run-away clans or barbarians - this is better for citizens of Nesse.

We would like to point out, that most of the Exiled isle and all Fort Oran members did not work with Cyrians - we worked against them and aided city of Nesse once again. And those exiles who worked with Cyrians are not on Exiled isle anymore.

EDIT: So, we see no reason why élites should further discussion this topic.

Sigh.

I warn the senate to NOT listen to whatever Moon Shadow Clan has to say about them not being against the city.

Why do we have to listen to Exiles trying to advise Nesse Citizens?

Evil runs deep within the temples of Nesse.

Alya warn all from normal nessers to elites ad outlanders - the masses are being used to kill and slaughter to gain power by the priests of the horned death and the scribal dogs. Sleep with one eye open, watch over. For you will be next.

Yes, we voice the Alya's concern, we have yet to see the proof of our crimes. All you have are words, which is useless without proof.

Our raid against the Golden Tribe was sanctioned by half of the Elites of Nesse, even by Moderator Dicchus before he became a Moderator.

Our veterans that abandoned Nesse and fought for the Cyrians were not, I repeat not under any command by our generals, and two of our members who commanded these troops were executed by Lucius Wolf, before he himself was killed by a mob. Those families of the veterans who betrayed Nesse were arrested and sold into slavery for the crimes their husbands/fathers did, and they were banned from serving the Banner of Wolf for life. So do not accuse us of betraying Nesse.

We share no similarities with the Wolf Tribe, sure we share the same name, but that is just a coincidence, and coincidence only. If you have proof that we friends in this tribe, please bring them forth.

Finally, our incompetence was due to the incompetence of the Senate to allow the military to operate in full freedom from the Senate to allow the army to lead the Cyrians on a wild goose chase rather than besieging the city. Had we been granted what we asked from the Senate, our armies would have prevented the Cyrians from laying siege to the city of Nesse, and we have provided our proof and plans to the citizens and Elites of Nesse.

Out of these 4 crimes listed, the Wolf Clan accepts 2 of them, the failure of the Golden Tribe campaign, and the incompetence, but the Golden Tribe Campaign was authorized and fair, we were under threat and we had the support of half of Nesse. Our incompetence was due to the Senate, so we cannot take the full blame for this.

In all, I ask again, what crimes have I really committed that would allow an Elite to be exiled?

After discussions we tell you now. No senate votes us to be exiled. Alya, Luca and Wolf clans are only exiled by force, not by law.
