ZPNESVI: Nesse, the Chosen City

The House of the Horned King is satisfied with its questioning of Sillius Soddus Dicchus. We are confident he will advance the concerns of common Nessers, and throw our support behind him for the post of Moderator. His views on city defense, the exiles, and the social contract between the different elements of Nessian society can be trusted.

Update is half-done, it should be up sometime tommorrow. I guess the Senate will just be getting started in this update, so it doesn't matter if there is moderator yet. Of course I'll check back here to see if an agreement has been reached.

I wish to express appeciation for Haseri's story :) (because Haseri is so cool, I said he had license to make up some things about the Cyrians)

House Ìademos supports the candidacy of Sillius Soddus Dicchus for Moderator of Nesse. We will continue to accept additional moderator candidates from the Elite Houses.

We suspend voting on the issues pending before the Senate, as the new Moderator will have prerogative to introduce new votes or continue the old ones.

Moderator Candidates:

Sillius Soddus Dicchus - House of the Horned King, House Ìademos
Julii Challoan II -
Ra-in Mirkoi Anyan -

Clan of Alya offers its member 'Ra-in Mirkoi Anyan' as moderator candidate.

OOC
I though every elite has a candidate - since we can't vote for moderator anyway.
As for the votes - Nessers should start voting among elites who they see fit as first moderator of Nesse!

The Fiddler Clan would like to request some manner of presentation as to why any of these candidates have any value at all. While one can assume that they follow the general standards of their Houses, that doesn't always mean it so. We would prefer that the election of the Moderator, as our sole elected representative, be a matter of issues, not popularity.

House Demetrii throws it support behind Sillius Soddus Dicchu for the position of Moderator.

His wise business acumen will help lead our fair city towards a more prosperous future, a candidate for the common man!

The Lucan Family will give our full support to Julii Challoan II.

Ra-in Miroki is a young bot promising member of the Alya clan. He is the grandson of the current leader of Alya and one of the growing new group that see equality as different from freedom. His aims are more militaristic then other Alya members. He believes war should be brought to exile island and that the exiles should be broken and defeated to not pose a threat to Nesse - economic or militaristic.

Another main object he sees is the rebuilding of Nesse outside the walls. He sees the future of Nesse in the new neighborhoods where Nesse has much room to grow and expand. He believes industries and commercial zones should be built there as well as a large new wall that will cover an area larger then currently built, for future purposes.

Another aim of his is the creation of a guard tower system in the outlanders territories that will help Nesse defend its border more easily and help the outlanders defend themselves more easily by giving them structures that are easily defended.

He believes diplomacy should manage the neighbors of Nesse from north and south and that elite families should create a fighting force to defeat barbarian tribes around and conquer new lands - mostly resourceful ones for the outlanders to keep and grow. Also he believes a navy should be built by the elites to defend the city from sea invaders and to defend the future trade fleets of Nesse.

He is also a supporter of the sciences and written accords and believes support should be given to the fiddlers and scribes with the creation of a Nesse university where science and literture could find a natural home.

He also enjoys hearing other opinions and will obviously tend to answer to the voices of the people and will put forward almost any suggestion for senate voting given to him by elites and Nessers.

Stonehide Orders

Spoiler :
Mining the ground so that we can the follow
Supply Nesse with enough metals to allow House Tuxenius house and any other small Blacksmiths to produces enough equipment and weapons for the Elites battles with Wolf Barbarians exchange for any replacement tools we need, small amount of gold and small amount of swords.
Supply those involve in building Outer Nesse any Stone that is mined up for a fair price.
Should any of the Outlanders Clans need stone or metal from us supply them exchange for some to their Specialty.
Send small group men to look for more possible mining sites in Outland.
Build small houses outside the our mine(s) for our miners to rest in without need return Clan HQ. Buy/Trade for any extra materials needed from the Outlander clans and/or Nesse Houses.

Julii Challoan II sees the building of the Nesse economy as critical to the city's success. He sees that the best way to build the Nesse economy is through the bottom-up: first through Outlanders, then through Nessers, and finally the Elites.

Julii Challoan also sees barbarians as subhuman, and ripe for the picking. Their lands are to be taken and given to the Outlanders for development, who will then benefit the rest of the economy.

He favors Nesse independence, and would never sign a treaty that would limit Nesse independence.

He believes that with the expansion of the Outlands, the city of Nesse, itself, should expand slowly, as the older Outlands nearest the city become spent and the Outlanders gain more and more land. The expansion will be slow, so that both the Outlanders and the Nessers will have a net gain.

He favors the idea of militias over drafts when dealing with emergency military situations. He believes that the army should be expanded, and that the best way to do so at the moment is to give the recently-captured land to the clans that have more soldiers in the army.

He always looks for new ideas, and doesn't always believe he is correct and there may be a better option he hasn't thought of.

Orange Clan Orders (because I never really made them explicit):

Spoiler :
We kinda talked about this in that PM, Daft - but let those ships come if they want. I think there was at least one clan that wanted to stop by, as well.

Spend my free time and money further fortifying; start making towers, and if possible upgrade from the weaker wood palisade to actual stone walls. Also, train for battle - perhaps we can find some mewling Clanless Exiles to stomp on and/or enslave, to work on the walls. That'd be fun and educational!

I've made a few statements here and elsewhere about the advantages of kingship and treatment of Exiles; while many (most) (...all...) of these Elites and Elite wannabes haven't agreed, perhaps the citizens of the city may, so if there's any way to distribute the statements around the city without being insta-killed, do so.

And on another note: the accusations that we want to fraternize with Exiles? Ever since that last fiasco, we never want to see an exile in Nesse again. Doing business with them is bad. If the military clans want to hire them, they do so at their own risk. And they better not get near the gates of Nesse.

If I understand it correctly, then Families "leader" and family (NPC) "member" views can differ. And doing business with exiles is same risky as doing business with another elite or outlander.

My orders were PM'd:
Spoiler :

Basic: Continue doing our actions (what are too secret to reveal) and start building proper village. Defend our isle if need arises.

The House of Wolves throws their support for Sillius Soddus Dicchus as Moderator.

House of Wolves Orders:
Spoiler :

Disband the militia. Pay them for their services and award the dead soldiers families a small severance package to include financial security over the spouses lifetime, all debts paid off, and protection of the Wolves.

(I do not mean to pay the spouses all at once, no they will be paid a little here and there, similar to a paycheck.)

While Elite Houses and Clans are free to support any candidate for Moderator, only Nesser votes will be counted towards the election.

Moderator Candidates:

Sillius Soddus Dicchus - House of the Horned King, House Ìademos, House Demetrii
Julii Challoan II - Lucan Family
Ra-in Mirkoi Anyan -

We await the votes of the other Nessers: Duresse, Tuxenius, Fiddlers, Banner of Eagles, Luckius

The Banner favors Ra-In Mirkoi Anyan for Moderator

As a moderator, Sillius Soddus Dicchus sees himself as the best candidate for the situation.

His candidacy as the only non-political clan means he's a safe neutral option between the imperialistic Challoan and populist Alya. In his capabilities as a Moderator, you will know that he will put forward all reasonable proposals from every side of the political spectrum.

As a member from a money-lender clan, the Dicchus clan's self-interest necessarily aligns with the interests of the city. In order to have sustainable investments, the city must be in a situation conducive to continued investment - namely continued peace, and successfully developing industry.

Based on the job description of Moderator, Dicchus understands that it's not about him as the moderator, but rather, his job to mediate and ensure the smooth running of the Senate. Should he succeed in being elected Moderator, the advantages offered by the Alya and Challoan candidacy (in terms of bringing issues forward) are NOT negated in any way.

Dicchus has their own personal beliefs regarding the diplomatic and military situation BUT he understands that the position of Moderator is NOT about pushing one's own views (it's not the US presidency) but rather facilitating the views of Nesse via the Senate.

He is perfectly willing to speak to any potential voter privately (via MSN) in order to address any specific concerns.

In conclusion, Dicchus is the best candidate for the position because he is from a politically-neutral clan, and would be able to bring the benefits the other candidates offer (within the powers of a Moderator) with the peace of mind that he is bound to the city's interest by an undissolvable band of necessity.
