I guess I must be retarted or something... the patch is NOT on the official civ4 website as of 12/23 11:33 AM and my autoupdate says there is a patch but fails to download it. Where can i get this bad boy.
I had this same problem today I tried 3 times then I turned all my anti-virus programs off just to download the patch and it worked.

In the options menu, does anyone Else have a problem with the screen resolutions staying on default 1024+768.I changed it to 1280+1024 and it asks me do you want to save this setting I do,then I exit the game to come back later to see it is on default setting again. It does this every time very annoying.

I suggest putting the setting you want in the Civ.ini file, then make the .ini file read-only. I had to do something similar because the program kept overwriting my windowed mode setting (from 'ask' to '0'). That was very darned annoying.

Can you continue playing the already started games with the patched version?

Canada West Coast 8:45 AM Dec 23. Autoupdate detected the new patch and the entire download took just over 3 minutes (47MB). Not bad! I expected it to be about 10-20 minutes due to traffic.

Maybe I can finally play this on my laptop (here's hoping anyway).

yes .........
With the new modifications?
EDIT: The reason I ask is because this was not possible in civ3.....

I spent ~10hrs downloading it via the game with my crappy dial-up and I got and it works:D. The only thing it screwed up is I can't multitask because it screws up my mouse where it can't move out side the game when I alt-tab.

Depends on the mod, I expect. For example, I'm using Sevomod, which includes a Domestic Advisor mod. With 1.52 installed, I can no longer get any Domestic Advisor, using F1 or the button. I suspect there will be some mod fixes, soon. ;)

Thanks Flak, I didn't have this problem before the patch, but you fixed it.

...and with the default mod?
EDIT: My question: With the new patch installed, can you continue your games? With the changes intact?

During initialization, the game writes settings for new options into the .ini file, see thamer's response earlier where he says the new option is written the first time you run after the patch is installed. The game may not work correctly or may have an annoying default if you don't let it write this value, so making the .ini read only might not be a good idea.

Unfortunately the best way to preserve your options is probably to copy the .ini file before installing a patch and restarting the game, and then manually copy your changes back -- at least until they stop adding options.

But the games&mods made for 1.52f can be used by an unpatched game? And where is the download?

Edit: My first crosspost with a mod! With Thunderfall!

He he. New patch = new bug. I've just rolled up right next to a Spanish city and it stayed greyed out. Took the damned city and it's still greyed out. And now I've added a second greyed out city. My army seems to be losing its sight, along with all of my newly acquired Spanish population. Hmmm, perhaps I need an optician improvement! Has anyone else experienced this problem post 1.52?

:woohoo: I just had to defragment my drive and now I can multitask again:D! Hooray!
