101

It's about the general idea, not about the exact nuances and all. The nuances have to be acquired by actual exposure with Russian since it's impossible to learn these from the English langauge (or any other non-Slavic language I fear). Besides, I think an average Russian will still understand you if you say the closest English sound.

I tell people that saying "ы" is like saying "и" but you're punched in the gut in the process. I can't think an English letter combo that would suit it.

And if you grimaced whilst doing so. It's a very difficult sound to reproduce accurately, almost as difficult as غ in Arabic.

In Russian, you can use just one "verb" to express any of them. :mischief:

Explain?

When you turn an "i" into an "ы" all you have to do is put your tongue in a mid position. Meaning that you pronounce an "i" but with your tongue in the middle. (To compare "i" uses the front position and "u" uses the back position of the tonuge, while all three are on the same level - high vowels, pronounced with the tongue in "high" position).

I belive the verb he is referring to starts with an "f" en English :mischief:

У тебя много жира в голове.

(You have a lot of fat in the head.)

It is called phonetics.

Can someone explain me what this is about? I take it is some kind of Russian animated dark comedy.

Watched other their videos, it's Nazshist (pro-Putin youth movement) agitation, clearly shows how dumb they outlook. I recommend not to pay attention to them otherwise you try to be disappointed in russian pro-government propaganda.

Really? Sounded like a parody to me. What told you that it's somehow connected to blokes from "Nashi"? The text is a "sadistic kindergarden verse" -

A little boy found a neutron bomb,
Placed it in his pocket and went to school.
Later, the HoLDoPE (Head of Local Department of People's Education) laughed a lot*
There's a school, but there's no one there!

*Yes, Head of Local Department. Not evil Anglo-Saxon imperialists. The text doesn't perfectly match the video.

Compare English "Lizzie Borden with an axe..."

Even the "Nashi" people aren't that cheezy to use animation and verses like that in their agitation! (with apologies to Cheezy :p)

Perhaps it's a better place to post movies in Russian.

Not the best movie ever... Hollywood trying out "Russian" costumes. Should have started with Soviet classics ;)
