14th of June Patchnotes

I can confirm the courthouse no longer remove per city unhappiness.
Also the game was lag free, even with animations.
On the point of animations they force you too look at them when you get attacked before you can take another action. so turn them off in MP games! It was a tiny map multiplayer game

Guess I'll wait for the patch to get patched.

Does this mean InfoAddict doesn't work anymore?

Turn times are even longer now, the AI's units don't move at the same time. Rome's units would move first, Mongolia's second etc. I turned off movement animations which is faster, but it's still 8 seconds turn time. They probably didn't fix the workers memory leak or whatever it is. Are they going to release another patch for the expansion? This is ridiculous. They've had a long time to optimize it. The AI's still crap too, you have to pay for expansion to fix that. That is laughable.

It seems like a small patch but i'm presuming there's a lot of hidden game mechanics in there too, ready for G&Ks. It a good thing the patch was released earlier so hopefully the problems will be addressed before the 19th. I'd be so annoyed if the day of G&Ks release arrived and it didn't work. Poor show all round i'd say.

Infoaddict is not in the list of Workshop mods, which might mean that the mod author never bothered updating it. Mods break - it happens. Verify that the game works/doesn't work without mods before adding in mods (which may or may not get updated).

and before anyone (else) says it: Modders had time with the beta patch, so they could have taken time to update the mod before the patch.

I hope it gets updated. That is one of my favorite mods. One of those I just got used to using. Many of these mods most likely will not be updated before GnK anyway.

I have a question, for anyone who can answer it. What takes care of city unhappiness now, if not the courthouse? I've just puppeted a capital, so let me know if I should annex or not. Thanks

Has anyone heard anything from 2K Greg about all these patch issues?

What happened to the courthouse?

I haven't noticed any significant change to late game turn times, though could this be because it's calculating things while combat animations are playing? Certainly early game turn times are longer. They're taking 6-7 seconds now right from the start whereas previously they'd have been completed in 3-4.

With regards late game turns, I have spotted that no combat animations are skipped anymore. Usually by the end game I'd see 3-4 combat animations and the rest would be just text notifications along the top of the screen. The actual animation itself seems smoother as well no more 'Pause, Animation, Reaction, Pause' cycle, or if the pauses are there they're much shorter than they used to be.

On that point, there does seem to be a smoother interaction with the game overall. Notifications and leaderscreen videos are less noticeably loading.

Provided late game turns remain the same slugfest that they were before the patch and don't get worse then I think the extra few seconds in the early game is bearable. Though I cannot understand what, precisely, could be causing the extra delay.

I notest something odd on the map I loaded up today. There was around 4 tiles of ice on the north of the map and that was it, while in the south there were huge sheets of ice. A lot of the starting positions were also pushed up north where the ice would normally be, which led to some rather unproductive an food poor starts. Has anyone else encountered this or is it just my script that is screwed up?
I'd also like to mention that I to much like many other fanatics here have noticed a significant increase in turn times, which is just great for someone who is as patient as me!

Was playing a fairly peaceful multiplayer game with people (we didn't finish but we saved for later)

Anyways I annexed a city I had conquered from a player in the early ancient era and rush bought a courthouse. I noticed that it didn't improve my happiness. I was at -1 happy and stayed at -1 happy after I annexed and rush bought.

Also I and others have been having trouble playing our games in multi post the patch.

The game will random freeze more often and if you alt or tab or ctrl + alt delete out of there the screen just appears blank and the game crashes without a notification.

This happened to several people I was playing with in NQ and we had to keep reloading the game because of it.

===============

Also the Ice Age Map is new to multiplayer (and very fun)

Reinstalled the entire game and validated. Started a new game.

Biggest problem I had was only mentioned once (by Barak on p.6)

Cities. Click on one, and it will show you the city that was previously clicked. So I have to Return to game then click the city I want to look at again to see it.
Switching focus takes 5-10 seconds to update the screen; previously it was near instantaneous.
City View cycler does not work at all.

A number of times, "Choose Production" was the only option available to me. After production was chosen, the button would not change. I would need to change to Wealth (no unit or building would work, Research might), wait 5-10 secs for it to change and then it would give me the "next turn" button. Changing to the production I wanted worked fine after that. At least until next turn. Queuing production in every city might fix this, I suppose.

Also Unit Cycler was very buggy.

Improvement - The game Never lags (as in processing for a few seconds seemingly randomly) This is quite possibly related to the bugs above. If it's a choice, the old way was better; at least you wouldnt misdirect your units with fatal consequences.

Turn processing times seem no different.

RE: RETIRE
So you can see the graphs and whatnot, to analyze your loss without playing it all the way to the bitter end. That's the point of it; not HoF. And it's pretty cool.

Processor Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5800 @ 3.20GHz, 3GB available RAM
Video Card Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset.

Video settings were at lowest available before, and did not change.
I haven't really tried it with higher settings because of Teh Pheer.

Running no mods or addons of any type

Is there any identifiable connection between those experiencing difficulties, and their computer specs (e.g. processors)?

(And just to note the obvious in case it helps anyone: make sure you verify the integrity of your game cache if you're experiencing problems)

Silly question... How do we verify the integrity of our game cache? My problems are simple slowness and a few graphical anomalies. I'm running at i7 quadcore with 12GB of ram and i've DLed the most recent drivers etc...

Instructions from here:
1. Load Steam
2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.

Go to the game in your Steam Library and right click, choose properties, Local Content and there is a box for validating files there.

EDIT: Oh ninja'd

To prevent future auto updating of CiV; right click on its name in the list that's on the upper left corner of your Library page then click Properties > Updates and change Automatic Updates to Do not automatically update this game.

The change is game-specific and it will not affect auto updating of the other games in your Library.

Wrong wrong wrong.

Disabling automatic updates only means that Steam won't download the patch in the background, but it will still download it and install it the first time you launch the game.

The only way to disable automatic patching is by putting Steam in offline mode.

p.s.
you clearly have no idea about how Steam automatic updates work, you should avoid giving suggestions to other people..

What happened to the courthouse?

They say it is verified, that it does not cure city unhappiness anymore. So, I was wondering what the process is for annexing cities now. How do deal deal with unhappiness in this situation?

Thanks for the snotty response. I took Steam at their word. My bad.
