1700AD Scenario Development Thread

Gran Colombia died after few turns probably because stability. All of their territory are foreign but few tiles near Panama (historical). I'm still waiting for a fix though before tried playing GC again.

Leo, btw, if you read this, how about labeling the "South America" tile (for control South America) and "Latin America" (for Allow no Europe in Latin America) tile?

I wonder if Latin America means that it's okay if European have city in area around Guyana & Suriname..

I thought UHV tile display was in already.

Oh, duh. I used England's "South and Central America" for Latin America because they refer to the same area, but didn't consider that it's confusing with the different terminology in the Colombian UHV.

I'm getting confused as well now - isn't "South and Central America" (95%) the same as "Latin America"? Or what is the difference in-game?

As I said, both terms refer to the same area as far as I'm and the game are concerned. I'll probably remove the term Latin America from the Colombian UHV and use South and Central America there too, because it's less confusing with regard to Suriname and the Guayanas.

Finally have time to really looks at the 1700 map :king:
Some things I noticed that hasn't been reported:

- Lhasa don't have Buddhism
- Ciudad Real is a Spanish city. I suggest using Mérida instead.
- Perhaps rename Mombasa to Mvita, the native Swahili name or Manbasa, the Arabic name. And add Catholicism to Mombasa too.
- How do you plan to include Tehran? Renaming Isfahan after Tech X?
- York Factory is not a city
- Yangon could be moved 1E. Probably not a good city location now but it can be adjusted and conditioned to be a good city location :mischief:
- Shenyang was known as Shengjing between 1634 to 1914.

Should Daibul be moved 1W and renamed Karachi? It seems Karachi has always been the more important city, and it would reduce overlap with other cities in India.

Also should your capital really suffer from the "We yearn to join our motherland!" happiness penalty? In the case of Argentina, does this represent royalists? Plus, I think Buenos Aires's population is way too high at the start. Not necessarily from a historical perspective, but certainly from a gameplay perspective. There's simply too many people in the city to avoid massive amounts of unhealthiness and unhappiness. My suggestion would be to knock the population down by a few points, add a catholic church and an aqueduct, perhaps a theatre and amphitheatre as well. Also I'll go ahead and bump the religious infighting unhappiness for a secular civ observation. Unless this applies to the religion present in the city?

edit: Wait, I'm a moron. The populations of Montevideo and Buenos Aires are a result of the intervening years between 1700 and the Argentina spawn. I stand by my suggestion that Buenos Aires could use a few more buildings, or at least have the Spanish AI be more likely to construct these.

Lorenzo Marques or modern Maputo is at the very south of Mozambique and probably would be the hill 1s of the cows in Southern Africa. Lorenzo Marques should not exist at the start of this map though. The fort that Lorenzo Marques developed around was not built until 1787 and would not become the capital of Portuguese East Africa until 1898. The capital of Portuguese East Africa in 1700 was Mozambique island which would be one tile NE of where you currently have Lorenzo Marques.

A question that arises from a recent Dutch run in 1700: why are there six Great Merchants in Amsterdam? The UHV only requires three.

how about Sofala? which one was largee, more populated and more prominent?

Only if Sofala could be shoved into the current Portuguese city spot. In SOuth Africa it is very much wanted that England can settle the Durban spot.

So this is final? 1700 AD Prussia will be represented by 4 cities, and Austria with 2, and Poland with 1 :crazyeye:?

By the way, noone can declare war on Germany in the beginning (for 10 turns). But Germany can declare war on anyone.
It is not fair, especially towards France. As France need war with Germany, and need it fast, right in the beginning to complete UHV (40% of Europe).
At least I failed this UHV only because I started war with Germany too late.
edit: ofcourse I mean 1700Ad scenario.
It is not 600AD, where France can take all Germany by early prepared units.
In 1700AD almost everyone starts in equal conditions.
Peace treaty with Germany in 1700AD no longer needed.

You're right, Germany shouldn't get the extra protection in the 1700 AD scenario.

And by the way, Austria starts with three cities in 1700 AD. I think the enlargement of Central Europe will allow them to start with Budapest too, while I could see Warsaw + Lwow for Poland then.

These are very welcoming news! I was under impression that only North of Europe will get an extra row...

It will, but the consequences will benefit Austria as well. With Frankfurt and Berlin moving north, Vienna can move west without too much overlap, which opens enough room for Budapest. Same with Poland. Warsaw 1N of Krakow becomes a viable spot and is more historical anyway, which makes Lwow a semi-useful city now.

Manchuria should be core area of Chinese now, at least historical, since it is Qing dynasty... well this is a complicated issue.
