Happy Birthday Giaur. In the previous game i also launched ship in 1936. Rather late but Ghengis declared on me in the same turn he finished Monty (he always was to afraid to attack Brennus and the rest was dead or vassalized). Very agressive this Ghengis. Not such a problem, finally i got fed up with him and took 2 cities with modern war tactics that i learned from previous isolated start (lots of gunships pillaging railroads to keep main stack safe) then he finally wanted to talk. After that i made a mistake queing to space parts in one citie costing me a further 6 years. No problem Brennus wasn't even close. Despite being financial Brennus is one of the worst researchers in the game and it showed again.
Looking at the saves from others 1700 AD i realized that i had probably farmed too much. For instance i was at 70/30 science-gold where most clocked up 80-20. Even at 80-20 i didn't reach 1200 research.
I believe in FE economies especially with philosophical leaders but this map was so food rich that i probably should have cottaged some more, i just hadn't the happiness to deal with the enormous food surplus in some cities. So it went to rot. Something to remember, i'm learning a lot from this challenges.
My second immortal win, first was a launch in 1818 on a huge map 18 civs.
standard map , only 7 civs means a much later launch this already showed on the isolated start, huge map emperor ai launches between 1840 and 1860, standard nowhere near as we've seen. This game was easy and very well played by Giaur (great angkor wat synergy) , Mutineer impressive overall, Lilnev coming back from a bad position , Snaaty audacious strategy having archers in modern times and getting away with it, and the others who won in
similar fashion like me outwarring and ultimately out researching the ai's.
