2006 CFC 7-Round NFL Mock Draft (Starts 2/4)

With the Patriots, they still have Vrabel and McGinnest at OLB. Whereas at ILB, Bruschi is aging and Chad Brown is 36. They need more of a youth infusion there than at OLB. I'd suggest they go with Abdul Hodge ILB Iowa.

With Buffalo, I agree with your analysis of their needs, but I think it's important to remember that they have 3 of the next 20 picks, so they don't need to go OT just yet. I suggest they go best available here, which would be Darnell Bing, S, USC then address the LT and DT with the next two picks. Keep in mind they do need a safety with Troy Vincent and Lawyer Milloy both nearing retirement (Vincent may have 1 year left and Milloy 3 or 4).

I'd concur on the Bucs pick though.

And the current order for my pick if it comes up before I'm back online, very much subject to change when I think about it more:

Kiwanuka - DE
Chad Jackson - WR
Sinorice Moss - WR
Cromartie - CB
Maroney - RB
Youboty - CB
Carpenter - OLB
Simpson - S
Bing - S
Hill - CB

Carpenter was already taken by the Cowboys at 18.

I'd concur on the Bucs pick though.

Vrabel and McGinest are also aging, and I could also see them shuffling OLB to ILB. I'd take the best linebacker available, rather than specify an ILB. I'd specify an ILB with their next pick maybe.

For Buffalo, agree with your assessment, except I think Justice is the best available. I also think the dropoff to the next couple of OTs is bigger than the dropoff to the next couple of safeties. If Bing is still there at 29, take him, and a DT early in the 2nd round. If Bing is gone, take the best available S/DT, and the 3rd position next. No biggie going Bing now and crossing fingers for Justice instead, just a question of who you think the giants, bears, panthers, jags are more likely to take, a S or OT. Take Bing now, and I think Justice and McNeil are both gone by 29, take Justice now, and one or both of Simpson or Bing should still be there at 29.

Carpenter was already taken by the Cowboys at 18.

So he was. Therefore after more thought, he's off my list.

*edit*Oh yeah, and if I knew things would pan out this way, the Broncos wouldn't have traded up at all, they would have left Ngata for the Bills, and taken 2 of Kiwanuka at DE, Jackson at WR, Bing or Simpson at S with 22 & 29.*/edit*

Well, McNiell is going off the board at Tampa's pick. Cincy is picking Orien Harris. Bears will go with TE most likely. Panthers will likely go for an offensive skill position. so that leaves the Jags and the Giants. Not 100% sure which way they'll go.

With the 22nd pick in the 2006 CFC draft, the Buffalo Bills select:

Darnell Bing - Safety - University of Southern California

You could not dream up a better physical specimen at safety. Bing has excellent size, is strong, athletic, and fast. On the field, Bing plays with a lot of aggression. He excels at attacking the line and stuffing the run. He hits like a linebacker, and makes you think twice about crossing the middle. Darnell also shows the athleticism and speed to play in coverage. Bing may not have amazing statistics, but his impact is much greater than they lead you to believe.

Giants will most likely go CB, Jags I'm not sure. Maybe CB as well, maybe DE to work outside of Stroud and Henderson. Not sure where else they're weak.

Orien Harris - Defensive Tackle - University of Miami

Should we go ahead and do the Giants pick? IamSid hasn't confirmed he wants to participate. So I really don't expect him to post a pick.

With the 25th pick in the 2006 CFC Draft, the New York Football Giants select:

Tye Hill - Cornerback - Clemson University

The Chicago Bears take TE from UCLA 6'6 255 lbs Marcedes Lewis
GM Jerry Angelos--We hope Marcedes will help create mismatches in the middle of the field. With a talent like Lewis still on the board he was impossible to pass up. We really like this kid's size, athletic ability and should work well as another target for Rex. Marcedes was not only great value but a need for this club.

We anticipate filling in some other holes for our team through the balance of this draft and free agency. We have 21 of 22 starters under contract and are $20 million under the cap.

With the 27th pick in the 2006 CFC draft the Carolina Panthers select:

Martin Nance - Wide Reciever - Miami University

John Fox: "It was painfully obvious we needed another playmaker to compliment Steve Smith in our last loss. With Martin, we feel we've found that playmaker."

Is that a big reach, or do you know something we don't?

I know something you don't:D

Edit: Just to follow up, Nance is a flat-out playmaker. At 6’5, with great athleticism, and jumping ability, he is nearly unstoppable in one on one situations. He’s not just big though, he has very good straight-line speed. He can get deep, and won’t be caught if he gets a step on the corner. Don't be surprised if after a good combine if he is the first reciever to have his name called in April.

DeMeco Ryans - Linebacker - University of Alabama
hey! thanks RedFusion!

i hadn't realized that this was the thread to post my pick in. sorry. noted for future picks!

The Jags will pick will take place at around 6 o'clock. Until then, since the Colts don't have a GM, who should they pick?

Playmaker on defense for the Colts.

Oh wait, I just remembered the Colts GM being at the Gophers bowl game checking out Maroney...coupled with Edgerrin James saying that there is almost no chance he'll be back next year. It's a serious option.
