2006 CFC 7-Round NFL Mock Draft (Starts 2/4)

Hey, I don't want to hear it! You weren't here to make the pick, so no complaining! :nono:
We already have a deficiency in the number of GMs, with the Jets, Titans, Bills, Rams, Colts, Redskins, Giants, Bucs and Patriots needing good owners. So having to figure out a good draft strategy for an additional team on the fly can be difficult.

But I posted right before I was up!

It looks like I'm (well, Green Bay is) going to be up in 10 picks. Red Fusion, if I don't respond within 2 hours of being UP, please choose the Best Available Offensive Guard for the Packers. Thanks

My sincerest apologies, you are correct. I guess when we flipped pages it must have slipped my mind. If you want, with the panthers pick, I can take a guard (which ever one you want) and we can trade the picks. Or we can do a 3 way swap with the dolphins involved if you want charles spencer.

With the 22nd pick in the third round, the New England Patriots select:

Bernard Pollard - Safety - Purdue University

With the 23rd pick in the 3rd round, the New York Giants select:

Jesse Mahelona - Defensive Tackle - University of Tennessee

The Chicago Bears take 6-3 237 lb. OLB from the U Roger McIntosh.

Jerry Angelo...we really like this kid. He's a smart kid who's a leader on and off the field and the flexibility to help us inside or out. His speed and quickness give us sideline to sideline range. He needs some work on his angles and can be too aggressive at times. These are things he'll have a chance to work on with Lance, Hunter and Brian".

The next two picks will be posted sometime between 8:30 and 9 tonight.

With the 25th pick in the 3rd round, the Carolina Panthers select:

A.J. Nicholson - Linebacker - Florida State University

With the 26th pick in the 3rd round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select:

Mark Stetterstrom - Guard - University of Minnesota

Thought about A.J. Lots of upside there but the Bears don't need kids with issues.

Yeah, there is concern about that, but a lot of what I've heard and read lately on the guy is that he's really matured and become one of the more respected players in the Seminole program. So while definitely not worth the risk of a first or second round pick, a late 3rd seems appropriate given that without the previous run-ins with the law he'd probably be considered a top 50ish pick.

My 2 are up soon, if nobody gets in first and takes these players, my preferences are:

Denver: Marcus Vick, QB, Virginia Tech. - Gambled on Maurice Clarett at the end of the third round last year, so time to gamble with the same pick this year. If it works, we look like geniuses, and have a running quarterback for when Jake Plummer retires.

Steelers: Jeremy Bloom, WR/kick returner, Colorado. - In this mock draft, we can probably get him in later rounds. I'm prediciting a big combine moving him up the board, and that we lose Randle-El in free agency. This guy is an olympic athlete, so his mental strength and ability to cope with the stresses of professional football are unquestioned. His speed, catching & return ability offset his lack of size.

Wow, Marcus Vick!!! I know they gambled with Clarett but that was at least with a supplemental pick. If you wanted to take a gamble on Vick you could have at least waited to the 5th round. I am truly shocked!

Clarett was a 3rd round pick wasn't he? Compensation pick or not, he was still taken before any 4th round picks. If (big if I know) Vick's off-field stuff doesn't get in the way, he's definitely worth a third rounder. Easier to gamble in a mock draft too.

Nah, looking at it I'm ok with the RB pick ... we probably need to draft one early anyway. Sorry to raise such a stink.

Although I have to admit there was a temptation to take Vick with that pick ...

heh, I thought he had made an official pick...I was close to posting my selection. Must wait more I suppose.

You know who should pick Marcus Vick? Carolina, Tampa, or New Orleans. Marcus is already a screw-up, you could use him to play head games with his brother.

Jake Delhomme > Marcus Vick
Chris Weinke > Marcus Vick
Stefan LeFors > Marcus Vick
Chris Simms > Marcus Vick
Brian Griese > Marcus Vick
Luke McCown > Marcus Vick
Tim Rattay > Marcus Vick
Aaron Brooks > Marcus Vick
Todd Bouman > Marcus Vick
Adrian McPherson > Marcus Vick

He is not worth a roster spot. Lawrence Phillips thinks Marcus Vick is a screw up. Ryan Leaf thinks Marcus Vick is a tremendous waste of talent.

You don't add him to the team to play him, you add him to the team to play with his brother. Let's say you're Carolina, and you're playing Atlanta this upcoming weekend. Ooops, need to suspend Marcus for a game for conduct detrimental to the team. It's evil, and no team would ever do it ... but still, it sounds like Fun, no?

Still dont understand how that would affect his brother though :p
