Azale, you left out this one:

Hopefully Miami learned something while they were getting pasted by the Spurs;

Losing in the finals does not mean you should disassemble the team and start from scratch.

I, for one, hope the Spurclejerk dies off quickly. If I have to hear one more person gush about how goddamn beautiful the goddamn Spurs play basketball...

Hopefully LBJ sees the Heat as "Cavs, part deux" and follows up with "The Decision II" where he takes his talents to somewhere else. Hell, if he went back to Cleveland I'd actually start rooting for him (as much as I do for any non-past/present Celtic, anyway).

Yeah see, we have no idea what is going to happen. Miami may actually be his best option if it means they are adding new pieces. James has an advantage by being on a team that gives him a broad window, which Miami has proven they can do. I think James feels guilty enough about how the first televised event went down, and I seriously doubt him leaving Miami will happen, just because The Decision is one of a couple reasons.

I think there are real, legitimate questions about Wade, and the cap hits for the Heat, that should give Lebron pause about where he should continue playing.

I'd love it to be Cleveland, of course, and there are exciting roster parts there, but leadership is nuts.

I can't see LeBorne going back to play for Dan Gilbert and....Mark Jackson? Spoelstra is a quality coach.

I still think Spoelstra is a top 5 coach easy. Although it's amazing when you think how few coaches right now have been around for very long, all I can think of is Pop, Rivers, Spoelstra, Thibs, and Rick Carlisle in no particular order.

That's why I don't see him going to Cleveland, or anywhere else. Miami has management that has proven they have the ability and the will to put pieces together and offers him the best prospect. Other teams can't really do much but talk about it.

As for Wade, he has a tough choice. He can become a role player on a team with a good shot at going places if he takes role player money, or he can go be the high paid aging centerpiece of a bad team for a year or two before the weight of the bad team on his back breaks him. I'd say Ray Allen shows the clear advantage of the first path, but that's no indication of how Wade will see it.

They may not have to start from scratch, but they need to blow up their bench,
since it was pretty much useless.

Not sure exactly what defines 'bench'. Anderson seems like a useful piece. Ray Allen seems like a useful piece unless he decides to hang 'em up. If Wade can accept being a role player he would be a very useful piece and make cap space to bring in another top line player.

No question that they need some upgrades to compete in the finals, but unless something changes drastically they could win the east again pretty much as is so 'blowing up' seems like a drastic action that isn't really called for. Teams that blow things up tend to spend decades as nothing but rubble.

i think wade will opt-in into his contract. lebaron james will probably opt-out.

the heat's biggest problem is their big men suck (why birdman is so important) and they have no point guards of note.

There is no reason to believe that the Heat will get rid of Andersen or Haslem, both of whom are probably the best quality defenders they have (people forget Haslem is not a bad rebounder either). I don't see Chalmers, Beasley, Oden, or Hamilton coming back at the very least. Toney Douglas is an interesting player, I like the guy, and it seems like he can be developed into the Heat system. Rashard is probably going to stay for a big vet contract. Otherwise, the Heat are getting 3-4 new players.

Wade needs to make his game into something like Manu. 25 or so minutes a game and a spark for the team.

Of course they need some more real players to make up the slack. :mischief:

I thought that's the role Ray Allen was playing in Miami? :mischief:

Similar. In fact it could be said that Ray Allen's perimeter shooting off the bench plus Wade's cutting coming off the bench equals one Manu coming off the bench. Bottom line, Wade coming off the bench vastly improves the bench if they put a younger stronger starter in his place...and he's willing.

I like this thought. Wade now is not the same Wade last season. He was a consistent threat to go to the basket but now...

Btw, how old is Wade?
