'300' Lights Fuse in Iran

Seriously someone needs to call these over-reacting Iranians out on being stupid or something.

Those Iranians ought to get the blacks and asians on their side, since they were part of the great army being defeated by 300 brave white men. Then we'll really see how racist that movie is!!!!

Oh yeah now that you mention it the protagonists were white. Thanks! If you weren't so concerned about the pigment of people's skin, I would never have noticed! :)

Anyone upset over a stupid CGI filled movie with lame lines like 300 is stupid and lame themselves. The same goes for those people offended by movies like "Valley of the Wolves: Iraq" and "Passion of the Christ".

If they actually watched the movie, they would see that the movie implied that the monsterous mutants came from some of the many nations that Persia conquered.
A very valid point. I haven't seen the movie (yet). But in RL, the Persian Empire encompassed many nations, respected them and their culture, and not surprisingly their army was composed of "foreigners" for a large part, which should include Semitic people (the Persians were an Indo-European tribe). So I guess that the soliders who fought in Greece weren't Persians at first for most of them (I know for sure that their fleet was Phoenician mainly), which should also be the case in the movie, but then I don't know if the comic/movie is very accurate there.

In the end it's just a movie. Iranians are welcome to make fun of us Westerners, and make fun of the Holocaust, but please could their leaders just shut up ? What a bunch of whiners. Just as those Greek lawyers ; I didn't like the Alexander movie for many reasons, and if they didn't either, they should just say that and shut up.

If there are elements of the Iranian govt who want to push a confrontation between West and Iran, this is an excellent move on their part.

If they are just being nationally/religiously oversensitive, as a lot of people, particularly in the Middle East and Eastern Europe (such as the aforementioned Greek lawyers, and many, many other incidents) tend to be...

Urgh.

As stated, Persians are not Arabic. Greeks are hardly white. Comparing the movie to propaganda is very shortsighted. It's just a movie about a comic!

BTW Defenders of the free world? Spartans (and Greeks) had slaves and servants, so free is a relative statement in ancient Greece.

PS Alexander was depicted as bi-sexual not exclusively homosexual.

If it makes the Iranians fell any better, 60.5 million of those 70 million dollars came from people who do not know that Iran is situated on the same territory as Persia (roughly) was on.

And 55 millions of them from people aren't even sure which landmass Persia was on :-D :-D

US leaders: grow the hell up.

Stop playing the war games...

Well the US government had nothing to do with this movie and I fail to see how the persians are portrayed in a bad light. If you want to get technical it was the spartans that were committing all the war crimes(killing non-combatants and mercilessly slaughtering the wounded) persia however fought a fair war and attempted diplomacy

And built a giant tree out of women and children.

Strange, i was white last time i checked

I could be wrong, but I thought ancient Greeks looked different from modern Greeks like you.

Depends on the source though. If you go by the description of Socrates then ancient greeks resembled goats ;)
It is logical to assume that some degree of likeness has been sustained, although obviously there has been no pure race preserved, here or anywhere else.

Ancient greeks always looked pretty white to me in any works of art, if I remember correctly
