More Unique Components for Vox Populi

3rd and 4th Unique Components for VP - Official thread 88.10

I want to ask again, I have latest version of VP and this modmod, when Maya Holkan has lost Trailblazer I promo?
There was no update since 4.0, so I guess there are more problems to verify.

Azum renumbered some promotions and broke some compatibility in doing so. Known issue.

There is a bug with the Polish Barbican if you acquire it through a wonder namely Al-Hambra; it grants the XP and defensive bonus to the city but it does not count as a building requirement for the military academy.
save game attached, modmods in use
  • Better Lakes for Vox Populi (v 2.3)
  • Really Advanced Setup (v 15)
  • Squads for VP (v 1)
  • (9a) Enhanced Air Warfare 4VP (v 1.9)

@pineappledan Did you also fix the Landwehr lua bug?
I think so. Honestly I don’t remember. I definitely made the change, but It might have been wiped out when my computer crashed

All credit to @Revolutionist_8 for 4.0 compatibility.

My computer crashed so he made the update. All I did was post it.

The OP said that the Assyrian Iron Chariot unlocked at Bronze Working. However, in game the unit is unlocked at Military Strategy. Is this intended?

Unlike Ironclads that unlock at Industrialization when the Corvette obsoletes, Amazonas are unlocked at Dynamite. If you research Industrialization before Dynamite it's hence possible to be unable to build any melee ship for quite some turns (militaristic CS can still gift you ironclads, not that you want to hold on them over your UUs though). I don't think changing the pre requisite tech changes the game for the better.

That being said, having the most broken naval unit in the late game doesn't feel 'right' for Brazil: it would be more realistic if Amazonas (and Monitor while we're at it) had much lower CS and a promotion that goes away with upgrade gave them a bonus in shallow water.

The Celts unique tile improvement is not working. Can't build it.

A significant design principle at play in VP has been the elimination of terrain-focused unit bonuses. Human is significantly better at optimizing terrain-based combat advantages, or at least used to be.

I tend to agree from a thematic perspective, but I think it has to be done carefully, can't be just cs% bonus
