4:15 -AM- EST turn chats!?!?!?!?

I'm wondering who's going to make it that early... Maybe Shaitan wants to play alone since he doesn't like 'farcical turn chat cerimonies'.

I might have to resort to having multiple IRC windows open with messages..

(then again, I'm retired, and I don't have a posistion..)

Yes, my chats will be at 0-dark thirty in the morning. I expect we'll have good representation from our European players as it's a more convenient time for them than the general post midnight (their time) chats.

Once the game is moving smoothly again and our Department procedures and contingency plans are well defined, I'll likely schedule one evening chat (where Octavian is DP) and one bloody early in the morning chat (where I'm DP) each week.

Of course, the President may scedule the turn chats at any time convenient for him/her, not based on the preferences of any leaders, etc.

It does mean, however, that I need to find a chat rep!

I've got Classes at 8am the next day... I can't be staying up that late... or getting up that early for that matter!!!

Granted our European members have problems attending around midnight, but don't make it start early morning... shoot more for the afternoon, like 4 or 5pm. EST. BUT 4AM!?!?!?!? I'm sorry I can't attend that.

If I remember correctly, 4am or thereabouts is the only time Shaitan is able to hold turn chats. Remember why he never ran for president in demogame #1...? I doubt this is a negotiable issue.

Shaitan's in Georgia. I can't imagine that being the "only time he can hold turn chats." He's already shown he has enormous time for the RPG. (of course now he has both that and the presidency).

But I doubt that it's not negotiable.

I think the reason Shaitan is able to post so much is that he can do it freely at work. Playing civ at work, however, is another matter entirely I am sure.

Actually a quick look at the const. (Not a throughly look... I just looked at the excutive department section) gives the result that not only the President makes the T/C times. (It doesn't list it under what the president is allowed to do)

I on top of most of the populace will not be able to make the 4 a.m. turn chats. I have school.... I can't risk waking up that late just to go it. I guess this will be the end to my 1 and a half month straight T/C attendence

Sure, our attendance record goes down the hole (2 months! ) but we elected shaitan for his abilities, and if 4am is the only time he can do that, so be it

cause if nobody is there, nobody can decide things there...

another proposal:
shaitan, why dont you just do a 10:00-20:00 GMT turnchat? so everyone can join at some time. or maybe a 24h chatsession, with 9:00-21:00 GMT you and 21:00-9:00 GMT your vice?
this way we could have a 7x24 chatsession! and the game would be finished withing this term ;-)

Will it wll mean the nothing can be decided in the chat. Which means 100% NOTHING. If we have it at this time ALL decisions MUST be properly posted, discussed, and polled. No one can make a decision under any circustance's in a T/C.

4 AM is when I can play the game. My job is very stop and go (Quality Assurance) meaning I have many instances during the day when I can check what has happened on the forums. I cannot, however, play the game at work. My evenings are family time and that will not change. As mentioned above, the 4AM time is exactly why I did not run for President previously. I judged the need for my abilities in this term overweighed the inconvenience of the early chat times. I stated what the chat times were going to be in the debate thread. You all did read the debates, right?

@Strider - I thoroughly hope that I will never need to make a decision in the chats. That is why I am harping on preplanning and contingency plans. So long as the leaders get those in place everything will go smoothly. As I also stated repeatedly, I will not be cutting chats short or cancelling them due to the lack of proper instructions. That is also my standing order to my Deputy, Octavian X, when he is DP.

I am perfectly fine by that. The slow turn chats have always been a problem, but like I stated the less attendence of the early turn chats will/could make it where you make one decision in the T/C and have the general populace not agree with the decision. Thus, you can not make decision's inside of the turn chat or you risk a possible PI.

There's just 1 major thing I don't like about an early chat. Some advisor posistions won't be able to make it then (That includes Falcon, who's the military leader). What if you have to make a military decision? Falcon wouldn't be there to say 'send 2 swords here, and the archer there...'.

@Chieftess - That's why you elected a President with the ability to cover all aspects of the game and an excellent ability to determine the overall will of the people.

@Strider - I fully expect to be forced to defeat multiple PI's this term. Why do you think I'm interviewing the Public Defenders so hard?

I'm working at game reform from within the rules and there will be resistance to it. That is to be expected, and even welcomed in some ways. My goal for this term is to leave a smoothly functioning, well oiled machine that can properly progress through subsequent terms with forum based decision making and chat based play.

I Agree with CT and Strider, but Shaitan can only play when he can, otherwise the would need Pres. and VP need to switch positions so that the one who can make earlier chats can make them. However, we do need Shaitan's Experience.

I sympathise with Shaitan, but I think earlier t/c are better overall.

And Shaitan, I skimmed over the Debates (it's alot to read in it's entirity), and I never noticed that, nor did I remember your earlier voices of concern about not being able to make t/c at a decent hour.

BTW: how much sleep do you get with a schedule like that?
