They solved that in the desert conflict (Med) the huge dust filters over the air-intakes of the spitfire were bulky, poor fitting and reduce the superior performance to that of being inferior to the 109F Trop's. The Mosquito

The "wooden wonder" started coming apart in the Pacific. Aparently, the combination of humidity+heat+various bugs was too much for it's glue (!) and the had to return to Europe, untill a new glue could be invented!

But you are both wrong. Officially, World War II only ended when East and West Germany were unified in 1990. This was new and surprising to me, and to be honest I don't 100% beleive it. The source was QI, a TV show which gives you facts not many people know. Surely the war officially ended when the peace treaties were signed and all nations were no longer at war?

Yep. It was the MG42. It was called so, as if used against infantry it could have literally cut enemy soldiers in two. It's sound was so frightening, that the morale of attacking soldiers were reduced. After the war it was copied and was produced after modifications as MG3 until 1979. It is still used commonly in the Bundeswehr and other forces. Although that nickname is not used anymore.
