Uh, Supermarine Spitfire?

The heat played up with the engine?

They solved that in the desert conflict (Med) the huge dust filters over the air-intakes of the spitfire were bulky, poor fitting and reduce the superior performance to that of being inferior to the 109F Trop's. They solved this by ...... well I might hold onto this as its a would make a good question.

A bit more...

I did eventually went back to the Pacific, but only after I got altered...

Ok... since I'm off the net for the rest of the day and night, I'll give yah the answer:

The Mosquito

The "wooden wonder" started coming apart in the Pacific. Aparently, the combination of humidity+heat+various bugs was too much for it's glue (!) and the had to return to Europe, untill a new glue could be invented!

Someone else pop the next one, please.

Didn't know it was off-topic. Sorry.

But you are both wrong. Officially, World War II only ended when East and West Germany were unified in 1990. This was new and surprising to me, and to be honest I don't 100% beleive it. The source was QI, a TV show which gives you facts not many people know. Surely the war officially ended when the peace treaties were signed and all nations were no longer at war?

officially? acknowledged by what officials?

The Katyusha was called "Stalin's organ" (Stalinorgel) by the Germans. But there is another weapon called Hitler's Saw by the soldiers. What was it?

Adler

P.S.: I assume the place is open. Otherwise: Sorry!

Yep. It was the MG42. It was called so, as if used against infantry it could have literally cut enemy soldiers in two. It's sound was so frightening, that the morale of attacking soldiers were reduced. After the war it was copied and was produced after modifications as MG3 until 1979. It is still used commonly in the Bundeswehr and other forces. Although that nickname is not used anymore.

Your turn, Illdisposed.

Adler

Interesting subject, that of female pilots and soldiers of Red Army.

I thought once an article about it and "night witches" did come up in the process but decided to let it go.

Maybe someone could consider such an article?

I'll take this, then:
Panzer I, Panzer II, Panzer III, Panzer IV, Panzer V Panther, Panzer VI Tiger, and Panzer VI Tiger II
There was one other German tank produced in WWII bearing the name of Panzer. Name it and describe it.
(and no, it's not the Maus or a captured model)
