The victims didn't give their lives for their country, their lives were snatched from them in an act of terrible brutality.

An annual minute of silence for victims of terrorism would be more appropriate than a day on the couch drinking beer and watching sport.

September 11th should obviously not be a holiday. I don't want a day of sadness turned into something positive. By the way, there is no Holocaust holiday that I know of.

Are people so shallow that they need a holiday to remember this? No. Even though most Americans can't find Iraq on a globe, they still know what Dec. 7 represents.

Not all national holidays have to be celebrations. In Australia and NZ, we have a national holiday called Anzac day this basically is a day when our troops were slaughtered by the Turks. Basically it is a day to remember those lost in battle.
