BULGARIA ELECTIONS. Sofia, Bulgaria. A surprise upset in elections came in the nation of Bulgaria this year, as the monarchist backing Conservative Party has been ousted from control of the government. Calling for social reform and other domestic changes, the liberals have been previously suppressed by the government, including methods of shutting down newspapers and other bodies which spoke out against the kings pet policies. Despite another year of similar efforts against them, the Liberals have managed to successfully gain control of the nations Duma. The conservatives have called for a new election, and the king has denounced the success of the radical liberal movement. SERBIA ELECTIONS. Belgrade, Serbia. The Serbian governments efforts to maintain the Conservative Party rule continued this year despite the 1931 Russian support for free elections. The arrest of several major opposition leaders also brought about a shattering of the Liberal Party membership, as it quickly became even more dangerous to oppose the party of the monarchy. ANTI-PIRACY CONFERENCE HELD. Athens, Greece. The nations of the Mediterranean Sea met this year to discuss the rise of piracy throughout the body of water. The conference began with recriminations as the French and Italian governments accused Greece and Tunisia of supporting and harboring the pirates. Mediation by other powers prevented the collapse of the conference, but it did not go very well from there. With little information on the pirates or their national origins, many felt that there was little anyone could really do at this point. Some representatives suggested a combined naval operation to help reign in the attacks, but disputes over who would lead such an endeavor quickly led to the collapse of support for that notion. The rise of fighting between Tunisian and French vessels throughout the central Mediterranean led to the end of the conference as delegates felt there was little more they could do to maintain the peace.

OLYMPIC COMMITTEE IN DISPUTE. Copenhagen, Danish Empire. The outbreak of the major war between the Republic of New England and the International Socialist Cooperative Group sends dark clouds over Providence, the selected city for the 1936 Olympics. The International Olympic Committee has made the shocking statement that the Olympics will go forward in Providence regardless of the ongoing conflict, stating that they hope that peace can be brought forward while New England is under the gaze of the community of nations. Other announcements have been made of plans for the 1944 Olympic Games. The situation on the North American continent, where that years games are slated to be held, seems unstable and many fear that further war will make requests for cities in the region prove unwise. The committee has scoured the world looking for other possible sites for the 44 games. The first of these is the city of Peking, recently reconstructed by the diligent efforts of the Republic of China. They believe that the Olympics should be held there because of the distance from the more unstable regions of the world, and as a sign that the new government of China is now a respected member of the international club of countries. The growing prosperity of Egypt has also not gone unnoticed by the committee, who have suggested that the city of Cairo be considered for the Olympics. Lastly, one North American nation which has shown signs of stability has been selected, the Republic of New France. Well away from the Caribbean war zone, the Republic of New Frances capitol of New Caen has been picked as the third possible choice. As before, the results of the committees debate will be announced at the closing ceremonies of the 1936 games.

To those concerned: research does not have to be a set amount of turn based spending as it would have been in Imperial Glory. Instead, it is simply a matter of spending part of your total EP per turn as if you had be researching on a tech tree instead.
@Milaqui: While I have no problem with the concept of your unit design, what you suggest makes me wonder exactly what the differences would be between a long range sub and this one. Also, why would you prefer this over a long range vessel? Seems to be almost a downgrade. Ive banked the excess EP for your use in possibly refining the design.
@SoldierChild: I had a couple of in character issues with your homestead act and have refined the update article because of it. Recall please that the settlers of New Holland are displaced Boers from Africa. They dont want negroes, and they dont care about alleged native claims either, that goes for your government too in most respects.
