ECONOMIC REPORT. Paris, France. The economy of the postwar world has continued its steady boom as the nations of the globe continue their efforts at reconstruction and rebirth. Economists generally believe with these assertions, though some warn, that should trends of political instability in some regions continue, the situation could worsen once again. CANADIAN GOVERNMENT HOLDS ELECTIONS. Toronto, Canada. The Canadian government held its first full elections since the end of the Second World War, as the Dent regime has opened up the polls for political change. The outlawing of political parties has made the campaigns a bit of a mess for any opposition candidates to rally support, allowing small successes only on a local basis. Attributed with winning the war and assembling the modern Canadian state, Harvey Dent has easily won reelection to the office of the presidency. Pledging to continue to build up the national economy and the strength of the Canadian people, President Dent has vowed that the enemies of Canada will rue the day they slighted the greatest of North American nations. UNITY PARTY SWEEPS MEXICAN ELECTIONS. Mexico City, Mexico. To the surprise of many, the liberal Freedom Party has been swept out of political office in Mexico as the right-wing Unity Party played off of nationalist sentiment. Disillusionment with leftist ideals came quickly with the failure of the United Collectives of North America in the Second World War, and the Unity Party has capitalized upon rebuilding a Mexican identity and nation. Calling for the restoration of Yucatan to the greater nation of Mexico, the Unity Party has swept a sizeable part of the nation into its arms. The Party Syndicate has managed to continue its control over California, but has been inflamed with much anti-capitalist fervor, claiming that the Unity Party is simply using the guise of nationalism to bring capitalist agendas back into the country. VIRGINIAN ELECTIONS. Richmond, Virginian Empire. The government of the Virginian Empire seems to be continuing to suffer through the times, though they have managed to preserve control within the moderate Federalist Party. The unrest throughout Georgia and the rise of militarist thought in the region has given some Virginians pause this year. The widespread support for the Federalist Party in the outlying states of the empire, and the call for reform still has managed to dominate concerns arising from foreign politics. The success of the completion of the reconstruction of the Nicaraguan Canal and the continuing growth of the Waterfield Plan have led to increased support for the Federalist government, based on their domestic programs. From this, the new Chancellor has been appointed one again from the Federalists, and they have managed to make gains in both the Imperial Senate and the People's House.
ISANTI ELECTIONS. Isanti, Isanti Republic. The Isanti people have spoken out once again in this year's elections, the second elections since the collapse of the Algonquin Nation. The Traditionalist Party continues to be supported, pledging to continue independence from the Sauk or any state in North America. They have vowed to maintain the security of the nation through cooperation with the other countries of North America, using any means needed to preserve their independence. They have pledged their support to the new government of the Sauk nation, as they oust their monarchy in favor of a new republic. (+1 Stability)
MILITARY SEIZES POWER IN ALABAMA. Birmington, Alabama. A militarist takeover was launched against the fledgling democracy of Alabama this year, as reactionaries in the military, former leaders in the Georgian army, have launched a military coup. The success of the coup proved that very few of the new nation's soldiers showed much loyalty to the standing regime, as the leaders of the democracy quickly fled to the Virginian Empire. The general in charge, Phillip Havell, has stated that while the new government has not come into control by the terms of the constitution, it is still the right of the country to determine its own course. They have pledged however, that they will not move to rebuild a unified Georgian nation, but to solely create a new national identity of their own with the new regime. (+2 Stability)
KLANNIST INSURGENCY FAILS IN MISSISSIPPI. Oglethorpe, Mississippi. Despite being a heartland of Negro rights support in North America, the Mississippian government nearly fell prey to a Klannist takeover this year. Elements of the Georgian and Tennessean paramilitary group attempted to seize power, launching an attack against Oglethorpe. The loyalist elements of the government were quickly called in, as they fought to preserve the republic against the rebels. The battle was fierce over the span of about a week, but the rebellion was crushed, and the republic was maintained. The remaining rebels have fled to the woods and hills of Mississippi, though the military believes any coherent leadership or organization they had has been broken in the recent fight. (+1 Stability)

REPUBLICANS OUST MONARCHY IN FORMER SAUK KINGDOM. Sauk, Sauk Republic. A popular rebellion was launched with support of elements of the military this year as the Sauk monarchy is cast down. King Keokuk V has been put under house arrest by the new government of the republic, and a constitution has been established by the new regime. The new constitution is modeled upon that of the Isanti and Fox Republics, possessing an elected High Chief and a legislative Tribal Council. The first elections were held in the wake of the revolution this year, sparking a confused process. A liberal government ultimately came to the forefront, controlled by the Democratic Republic Party, a strong movement with some ties to the prewar Algonquin Socialist Party. They have promised to stop outrageous spending on military defense and to bring about improved living conditions, and to repair infrastructure which was left in ruined state after the conclusion of the Second World War. NATIONAL UNION OF THE METIS ESTABLISHED. Winnipeg, National Union of the Metis. After years of warfare and occupation, the Metis people are finally free to govern themselves once more. With many of their natural resources shamelessly looted by the Virginian occupation, and the country poorer than it has been in ages, new elections were held in the ruins of Winnipeg and the surrounding area. Led by Jean-Manuel Desjardins, the Metis people have elected the right-wing National Militias into the congress and the Presidency. Though they have been hotly contested by the dregs of the support of the Syndicalists, the new regime has many courses it could take, as they struggle to revitalize the staggering state of the Metis. IROQUOIS COMPLETE ARMY MODERNIZATION. Mohawk, Iroquois Republic. After years of study and experimentation, the Iroquois army has announced that its program of training and equipment modernization has come to a close. Thanks to paid trainers from the Virginian Empire and elsewhere, the Iroquois military has managed to reform to a more respectable level. The Iroquois regime has also stated that these doctrinal reforms are merely the first completed step in military modernization, stating their intention of arming with a more advanced small arm by 1955. The leading members of the Syndicalist Party have stated that these military measures have been installed in case an aggressive power should attempt to launch a similar exploitation of the Iroquois like what occurred in the former Metis Republic. LAKOTA SIOUX OPEN "FREE TERRITORY." Geronimo, Lakota Sioux. The Lakota Sioux government has set aside an exclusive strip of land, accessible by a modern new airstrip for Western tourists and businesses. Stated as a modern area for all the pleasures of worldly society, several new casinos have sprung up as businesses from Mexico and the East Coast begin setting up new establishments. With cheap travel and access the new area of the Lakota seems to be very economically promising. For gambling and a good time, it seems like the "Free Territory" may well be an escape from the hassles of everyday life. On the other hand, locals have protested the rise in crime which seems to be occurring around the isolated area, and the forced relocation of several people from their homes to construct the new casinos and entertainment buildings.
QUEBEC FORMS NEW CONSTITUTION. Quebec City, Quebec. The Quebecois government has announced the completion of the long-anticipated and debated constitution since the revived state achieved its independence from Canada. The new constitution is modeled upon that of the Republic of New England, though it grants much of the power to the legislative Congress. The new elections are slated to be held in 1951, and followed every four years after that. The Quebecois people have rejoiced at this long-awaited progress, and have made heated campaign preparations for next year's elections. (+1 Stability)

GUATEMALAN ELECTIONS. Guatemala City, Guatemala. The nation of Guatemala has held what many outsiders believe to be "show" elections, as President Carlos Hernandez won handily, seeing as he ran unopposed. The nation's Congress continues to be filled with yes-men and other nepotistic supporters, as the Hernandez regime consolidates its control over the country. Despite the continued establishment of an authoritarian regime, the Guatemalan people seem to be in full support of the government. Many attribute it to the humiliation of the Mexican military in the War for Yucatan Independence, which has instilled a great national pride in Guatemala. (+1 Stability)
ARGENTINE COLLECTIVES COLLAPSE AS LA PLATA IS RESTORED. Urquizaville, La Plata Republic. The regime of Emilio Estevez, long considered a corrupt communist leader in the Argentine Collectives Federation, has come to an abrupt end. Popular protests were held in Urquizaville, and the government soon called in the military to quell the unrest. However, the military refused to fire upon the crowds and soon joined them in demanding the resignation of the communist regime. Under extensive political pressure, the communist government's last act was to abolish the Federation. In its place, republican and military leaders have established the La Plata Republic. While some of the apparatus of the old regime has remained in place, particularly the Regional Workers' Committees, a new National Congress has been called and elections for President soon began. To the surprise of many, the radical Argentine Unification Movement won majority in the elections, though they have failed to achieve majority in Congress. Domestically, the movement follows Lisist economic thought, while propagating the revival of a single Argentine nation and the reclamation of the Argentine Republic. While pledging to remain loyal to the prospects of the new constitution, the radical leader Augustus Peron has shown some signs of establishing a new authoritarian regime in the country. INSURGENCY CONTINUES IN PERU. Lima, Peru. New Englander and Peruvian government troops have reported continued attacks throughout the South American country by socialist insurgents acting from the jungle. The attacks have been launched with untold of ferocity and increased organizational skill. Reports have stated that a new leader has rallied the rebels, giving them hope in the ongoing struggle as the country quakes under New Englander imperial rule. The Peruvian military has been hit hardest by the attacks, though local New Englander bases have been struck as well. CANAL RECONSTRUCTION COMPLETE. Leesburg, Virginian Empire. After years of labor and funding, the damages caused to the Nicaraguan Canal during the Second World War have been reversed. Thanks to sponsorship from several Chinese corporations as well as local finances, the Virginians have managed to reopen the canal for shipping this year. Using the chance to modernize the canal systems as well as to widen the shipping lanes, the Nicaraguan Canal is now capable of allowing the passage of more tonnage than the Panama Canal to the south. The Virginians heralded this event with a royal presentation and celebration held in Leesburg.
CARIBBEAN FEDERATION SCIENTISTS DEVELOP NEW WEATHER FORECASTING METHODS. Havana, Caribbean Federation. To the surprise of many, a fledgling new field of science known as meteorology has emerged out of necessity in the Caribbean Federation. Yearly falling undersiege by series after series of devastating hurricanes, the Caribbean Federation put out extensive funds to determine a way to predict these horrific events. Using a sheer number of mathematicians and limited support from computing machines, a company in the Federation has managed to accurately predict this season's set of hurricanes. Through this new "numerical weather prediction," it is believed that scientists may now be able to gather accurate weather forecast, not just in the Caribbean Federation, but across the world. FRENCH ELECTIONS REAFFIRM LISIST RULE. Paris, France. The French imperial elections were held this year for the position of Consul, as Consul la Rouque officially steps down after his failing health due to the assassination attempt during the Second World War. Naming his successor as Edwin Baodouin, he has given his friend his blessing as the nation's new Consul. Needless to say, the nation of France, flush with the year's victory over England and the increasing strength of Europe from France's rule, has quickly brought the Lisist Party back into control. No opposition exists in the nation against the glorious Lisists, who have led the French nation to true glory.
DEATH OF THE KING OF GALICIA. Lesko, Galicia. King Francis II, wartime leader and monarch of Galicia during the Second World War, passed away this year inside his rooms in the hotel. Unfortunately, the Royal Palace had not yet been completed in the time since the end of the war. His son has quickly been crowned as the new King Francis III, promising a new era for the Galician people. Rumors of annexation by Poland have abounded in the years since the end of the war and the collapse of the Russian Federation. King Francis III has pledged to reopen the nation's Duma and to provide a new vision or role for Galicia in Europe's future. (+1 Stability)
ROYAL DEATH SHADOWS OVER SWEDISH ELECTIONS. Stockholm, Swedish Empire. The Swedish monarch, King Gustav V, passed away this year during the height of the electoral campaign season in his country. His son, known as a militarist, having led a Swedish division personally during the Second World War, has been brought to the throne as the new King Gustav VI. He has pledged his full support to the Unity Party, deriding the compromises with the Co-Axial Pact of Nations as well as the Norwegian and Finnish independence movements. While other countries have denounced the new monarch's statements, this has still led to considerable rising support for the Unity Party at home. The Swedish Riksdag has been dominated by the Unity Party, as the people swell with nationalist fervor. A side effect has been considerable unease in provinces with non-Swedish minorities, as they fear the wars which may result from the rise of the new government.
SWISS ELECTIONS MET WITH ALLEGATIONS OF FRAUD. Geneva, Switzerland. The Swiss government suffered through a tumultuous electoral season this year, as the Christian Democratic People's Party won victories for both the Federal Council and position of President. The new Swiss President has been accused of fraud to achieve his position, as rumors of vote-buying and ballot manipulation rise to the forefront. Leftist papers have accused the government of attempting to establish a government of Lisist standards under French pressure. The standing government has fully denied these claims, but have stated that they still plan on building ties with the Co-Axial Pact, as they represent the new order in Europe. (-1 Stability)
IRISH ELECTIONS. Dublin, Irish Republic. The Irish Republic's politics continue to be dominated by the Democratic Catholic Party, which has handily won control of the nation's Congress once more. The Congress and Presidency continue to be stalwartly held by the conservative party, as the government has swore to maintain ties with the Co-Axial Pact of Nations. The fall of the English government has brought to an end illegal smuggling into Britain, which the Irish regime has claimed to be part of the fall in crime in recent months. The Irish government has vowed to do what it can to aid the oppressed Celtic people of the British islands, and to provide whatever humanitarian aid is possible during the period of French occupation and reconstruction. REDRAWING CENTRAL EUROPE. Mulhouse, France. The French occupation government for the regions formerly owned by the German Republic and Hungary has been deactivated in favor of three new lisist regimes. Hungarian territory in the Balkans was quickly ceded to the Co-Axial Pact allied governments of the Republic of Italy and Serbia, for their efforts in aiding in the war against the Allies. The government of Hungary has been restored, as several soldiers from exile were granted amnesty for service with the new regime. In lieu of the rebirth of the German Republic, the French have established sympathetic regimes in both Munich and Vienna, restoring the old nations of Bavaria and Austria, destroyed with the creation of a unified German state. With these new countries, the borders of Europe have been completely redrawn from the conclusion of the Second World War.
AUSTRIA REBORN. Vienna, Austria. The nation of Austria, destroyed during the Bohemian War of the early twentieth century, prior to the First World War, has been restored. Under French guidance, noted Lisist Franko Stein has been appointed the new Consul of Austria. In a landslide election the Austrian Lisist Party swept the newfound Congress of Austria and the Stein government was confirmed as the absolute authority in the land. Franko Stein has overseen the rebirth of the Austrian military, under the guidance of French soldiers, some of whom continue to provide additional security. Consul Stein has stated that under his authority, Austria will see a full restoration of his heritage and position as a cultural center of Europe.
BAVARIA'S REBIRTH. Munich, Bavaria. The nation of Bavaria was one of the last victims to German unity in the nineteenth century conflicts of the region. The French government has overseen the recreation of this Central European nation, as the new government of Bavaria is created under Lisist statutes. A notorious collaborator with the French occupation, Oscar Schultze, has been placed as the new head of the Bavarian government. As the new Consul, Schultze has promised to rebuild the country from the ruin of the war and to maintain Bavaria's close historical relationship with France. Membership in the Co-Axial Pact of Nations and the new order which has been established remains another high priority for the fledgling nation.
HUNGARY RESTORED. Budapest, Hungary. Though the nation of Hungary was occupied throughout the course of the war, they received much better treatment than the Germans to the north, and insurgencies were of lower caliber. This has come to a conclusion with amnesty granted towards several members of the government and military in exile, as a new regime is restored. Though the nation suffered several territorial losses throughout the conflict, the new Lisist regime, headed by Gyula Jozef, has pledged to maintain the peace in the Balkans. Though considered by many to be merely a continuance of French occupational rule, the nation is the first to have French troops nearly completely withdrawn, with only a few security forces remaining the east on the Ukrainian and Polish borders.
BRITAIN FALLS TO INVASION! London, occupied England. After years of anticipation and fear, the French have at long last launched their invasion of England, cutting the last loose end of the Second World War in Europe. The French invasion began with a novel new idea previously developed in theory by the Republic of New England and the Caribbean Federation. Troops dropped in by transport planes, using parachutes, managed to face the confusion of the attack and successfully capture several key coastal fortifications by land. The French airborne forces then managed to reorganize and defeat several English counterattacks while the force of the Co-Axial Pact was brought to bear upon the island. The landing was successfully made near Dover, and the Thames was reached after only a week of fighting. With uncontested air superiority, the French planes and support were met with only haphazard English air attacks. Ultimately, the French managed to surround and besiege London, and with it the monarchy. Faced with impending destruction of the city and all within it, King Henry IX quickly surrendered the remaining forces in the region, stating in a public address to the city and people of England: "We English must now truly bear the unbearable, and endure the unendurable in the wake of this catastrophe." The remaining English forces were then faced with a rapid French advance throughout the rest of the island, as the English armies just seemed to melt away in the ferocious attack.

IMPERIAL RECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM COMPLETE. Rome, Republic of Italy. As new territories continue to be added to the growing Republic, the Italian government has completed a strenuous reconstruction program to repair war damages in occupied areas. Though hampered by attacks by the Greek Liberation Front, the Italian government has managed to build up most of the area's damaged infrastructure. Local authorities have claimed that in the near future, the Italian government may undertake social reforms within the occupied regions, perhaps allowing greater freedoms and representation within the confines of the Republic. The people of Italy proper have applauded the current construction efforts, following the belief that the restored Republic of Rome may well bring about a new golden age for the Mediterranean Sea. PERSIAN ELECTIONS. Tehran, Persia. Persian elections were held this year, as the government continues to waver among the various courses the country could take in international politics. The Moderate Democrats have continued to appeal to the people, pledging their isolation from foreign conflict, as well as maintenance of the comfortable status quo. They have toned down recent militarist statements towards Baluchestan and Arabistan, providing a bit more stability to the region as a whole. Despite this, they have vowed to maintain their close ties with the Republic of China and the Asian-Pacific Agreement for Cooperation and Security. (+1 Stability)
LIBERAL BEY OUSTED IN TUNISIA. Tunis, Tunisia. The Tunisian Social Liberal Party has been ousted from power, as the former Bey faltered greatly upon the campaign trail. Having been blamed for the failure of Tunisian arms during the Second World War, the Bey has found it very hard to garner any support against his opposition. The Congress of Tunisia was quickly dominated by the Conservative Coalition, and the office of the Bey soon followed. The new conservative government has promised to rebuild Tunisian naval power, as well as to maintain strong ties with the governments of Turkey and the rest of the Middle East. While maintaining neutrality towards France, the new government has recognized ties with the European nation may well be wise to be kept strong at this time, as well as with the Republic of Italy. TUNISIA COMPLETES NAVAL MODERNIZATION. Tunis, Tunisia. The Tunisian navy has completed a series of training exercises and maneuvers with hired help from the Republic of New England. While the ships of the fleet remain mostly out of date, the government has gained some aid in modern aiming tactics for capital ships as well as new techniques for fleet cooperation with air forces. Other expenses were made in making sure all ships remain connected with radio technology and up to date signal usage. The Tunisian government has stated several plans in conjunction with these efforts for the construction of several new modern battleships and carriers for the fleet. (+1 Navy Quality)
