PENNSYLVANIAN INDUSTRY ON BRINK OF COLLAPSE. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After over a century of determined mining and exploitation, it seems that the Pennsylvanian people may have reached the limit of their native resources and raw materials. Over the course of the year over two dozen mines were closed throughout the country, due to a lack of iron or coal within the mines. With the closing of the mines, unemployment has begun to climb dramatically, and the steel industry is greatly threatened by the current trend. As jobs continue to disappear, no relief seems in sight for the beleaguered Pennsylvanian people and industry. (-3 Stability)
FIRST QUEBEC ELECTIONS HELD. Quebec City, Quebec. In a fervor of patriotism, a new government has been established in Quebec, after the passing of last year's constitution. APPALACHIA ELECTIONS. Atlanta, Appalachia. The United Front moderate coalition which has governed the nation of Appalachia since its inception has collapsed under vicious political campaigns throughout the year. INTERVENTION IN ALABAMA, ELECTIONS HELD. Bringhamton, Alabama. Last year's takeover by General Havell has been short lived, as Virginian troops entered the country to restore a democratic government. After a brief but destructive fight in the city and outskirts of Bringhamton, the forces loyal to Havell soon collapsed under the modern fighting power of the Virginian Empire. The remnants of the Alabaman army soon pledged loyalty to the expelled democracy, as the leaders were brought back from their exile. The restored republic, as per their constitution, soon held elections under the supervision of the Virginian occupational troops, to a very vicious campaign. Needless to say, the Whig Party lost extensive credibility in the wake of the Havell takeover, and had a hard time lobbying for votes, making the elections almost anyone's contest. The conservative leaders were quickly painted as sympathizing with Havell, allowing the ease of his securing of power. The Radical Liberal Party has managed to successfully portray the Whigs as desiring to bring back the absolute authority of the Wright and Dahl governments. The leftists have pledged a new era for the Alabaman people, and the creation of worker rights reform projects. (+3 Stability)
