A Brave New World Part 3

OOC: We split the Danish territory of Nijeria in four. The individual parts are racially, religiously, and historically separate of one another. IRL Nigeria often has ethnic tensions, usually the result of not being separated into four distinct entities.

To: Nijeria
From: France

We will review your loan application and return with details of a possible loan to your nation.

Oh, ok I understand. There was this crazy anarchist who went nuts and the FNM were always rather militant but they didn't protest your decision after all. I know enough about Nijeria IRL to know that your partitions are correct for the tribes I know about.
Btw. here's an investment tip: stocks in constructions for New France, Texas, Louisiana and Virginia.

OOC: They split you in four though...

Matt, did you count the casualties of Communist Canada as Republican or do you consider them to not be Canadian?
Note: The People's Republic of Canada had 440,500 casualties up to 1939 when it was ended, but residing in region today that only has 800,000 people, and in this timeline, and at that time, probably had only 200,000 people, obviously, as EQ confirmed, for realisms sake, the people of the PRC didn't have about 9 lives per soldier.:)

Interesting statistics for the last year of warring in China. Perhaps troops from other parts of the country were bottled up in the last holdout. Also, you meant 1929, right?

Yeah, PRC China and PRC Canada are kinda easy to mix up.

PS. You and Quebec should consider donating to the Church if you want us to be busy stopping evil elsewhere when you get up to mischief in each other's territories (this was still ooc btw.). Unfortunately I can't be everywhere unless God gives me a miracle.

Even if you and I were willing to overlook the fact that I have roughly equal amounts of Roman Catholics and Protestants, probably a few less percent for the former though, but Canada is a very cash strapped nation anyways, so I wouldn't be able to donate if I wanted too.

Just try to encourage the faith. Love covereth up a multitude of sins. *smiles*
(I'm actually a devoted Christian in real life... I feel dirty right now.)

To HRH King Francis II of Galicia
From Augustus IV of Poland

May it please your Majesty,

For nearly one hundred years, your nation was the sole Polish nation. However, there is now another, the kingdom of Poland. Now, at last, two of the three partitions of Poland are free! I speak for not only myself, but also for the Sejm and the populace of Poland when I say that we believe that, in this new era, we should work together for all the Polish people’s collective wellbeing.

We understand that, upon your succession to the throne of Galicia in 1946, you promised to your people a national Duma. You have not yet made this a reality, but we feel that it would be best for all the Poles if, instead, our nations merged our legislatures, making our two nations one, in all aspects except having separate kings. This measure would no doubt not only save Galicia the expense of setting up a new constitutional system, but would also provide our nations with mutual security, and increased trade. We are also willing to engage to bring Galicia’s infrastructure up to Polish standards.

In addition, your Majesty would gain power across the whole combined nation alongside me. We propose that both of us would possess the right to veto laws; all ceremonial duties would be performed by each of us in our own country; we could share the right of tiebreaker vote so that I hold it in the Senate and you hold it in the Chamber of Deputies. We would each be able to force debates by the senate and we could each force parliamentary debates on particular issues forty times a year.

We suggest that the number of seats in the Chamber of Deputies would be increased to three hundred and twenty, and that the extra seats would be allocated to Galician districts. We also suggest that the number of seats in the Senate would be increased to one hundred and twenty, and that these extra seats would similarly be allocated to Galician districts.

We are, of course, willing to merge our nations whenever you want, whether this year or in several years time, although, if you agree with our plan, we see no reason to delay.

We hope that you will consider our suggestions carefully, and that you will agree with us in doing what is best alike for yourself, for the Poles, and for the Galicians.

Yours sincerely,

King Augustus

OOC

I refer to the description I gave of my vision of the Polish constitutional system, on post 6797 of the old thread:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=308289&page=340

Please could only Galicia reply to this. I would have sent this letter by PM if I had them, but I have not got PMs yet.

@EQ: If Galicia agrees, spend my EP on the full integration of the Galician and Polish laws and economies, and, if there is enough left over, on bringing Galician infrastructure up to Polish standards.

To Crimea, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine
From Russian Federation:

We do not wish to establish any sentiment of ill-will towards your newly established states. Given the cordial relations between our nations through history, we wish to establish a new international league with you former members of the Federation. Known as the Community of Independent States, the CIS would be an economic partnership between the member nations, as well as a security alignment to ensure outside powers do not interfere in the affairs of member states.

To Galicia
From Russian Federation:
While your state was never a member of the Federation we believe the history of friendship between Russia and Galicia permits our invitation to you to join the CIS

From Poland

We shall delay our decision until next year, because we would not like to make any decision that might be objected to by King Francis.

OOC: I just want to get the following clear about Nijeria:

From what I can guess:
Rich Lisist landowners influenced the election, and pretty much own the government.
Nijeria is primarily Danish minority-rule (a la Rhodesia), but the Danes wish to bring the light to the native peoples.

What I'm not sure about:
Is Nijeria a confederation? Or was Nijeria split up into Togo, Mali, Nigeria, and Liberia? Was all Danish colonies in Africa grouped as Nijeria (a la British Raj)?
How severe is the Westernization of the Nijerians by the government? What historical [culture]-ification is it similar to?

Also, is the art reviews each year just flavoring provided by the mod? Or is it sort of a minor competition between players when submitting orders?

You have it partially right on the establishment of Nijeria. The Lisists are actually a collection of whites and blacks to a degree, mostly the radical supporters of the FNM. They are not racially specific at this time, though they do bear some resentment to the "imperial Danes." Rich landowners would NOT Be fans of this movement.

First of all, Liberia has never been a part of Denmark. It was established by Georgia in the late 19th century. You may want to talk to lord_joakim or Milariqui about the organization of Nijeria proper, but in my understanding, it was organized as a single entity. I'd say Nijeria is highly westernized in terms of ideology and belief systems, and perhaps even in some infrastructure terms as well. The Lisists are a new regime, and they may work to actually define a cultural or national identity (a work, in my opinion, which still needs to be begun).

You can submit parts of the varying reviews, if you choose, but most of the time it's worked out to be flavoring provided by myself.

As the Danish player in ABNW2 before I got invaded by France, I think that I can answer this in part.
Nijeria was the most important Danish colony, especially after the Icelandic people decided to become a bunch of ungrateful people and voted to leave the Danish Empire (which was paid in full just before Denmark left). We tried our best to bring the light to the natives, building schools, universities, roads and even the African Dams. However, in the middle of the war, the French paid the First Nijeria Movement (which was called in the Danish official documents as the Finish Nijeria Movement) to break havok behind the frontlines to soften us up (and even then, it took them a lot of time to win).
What EQ has said regarding the culture of Nijeria is mostly right .

About the art reviews, you just send an idea to EQ in your orders and he posts it.

England Checking in... Still waiting for the French to grow some and try and invade :P

Oh no doubt they will but By God its going to cost them blood to do it. And to try and rule us even more so.

The cost of ruling a wasteland lies more in interest and patience than in blood to do it with.

Perhaps for you, but we shall see how willing your little servants are willing to come here when they realize the cost in their blood when your not willing to risk your own :) Shall be a fun century me thinks.

I would like to be a revolutionary political party in the free state of chicago. possible?

EDIT: wait i changed my mind, but i will think of something

OOC: If you want to be communist you should probably stay out of North America proper. Not too sure about whether the Great Powers would allow one on the outskirts like the North American periphery and Central America though.

Trying to go Communist at this point is like trying to go Fascist in the Soviet sphere of influence after WWII. The great powers, New England, Virginia, France, Italy, China and Russia are all hostile to Communism, while the only remaining one, the Socialist Union of South America, no longer even actively supports it. Good luck.
