A Brave New World Part 3

To: Korea, New Holland, New Zeeland, Borneo, Persia
From: China

It has been quite some time since the last APACS summit. Let us meet again and revive our old alliances.

The government of Russia does not see why the backwards and barbarous Borneo is attempting to dictate world policy. Russia suggests that Borneo mind its own business.

War leads only to more war. Even if the Russian government wants war, the Russian people are weary of oppression, desiring only peace, land and bread.

The government of Borneo implores Russia to send a delegation.

Greetings from Rashid Arabia, come by sometime my friends and we can disucuss the buisness and politics of our day.

Actually, scratch Switzerland.

Could you send some recommendations EQ? Please?

@Haseri, my recommendation for you personally is Turkey. It's in a prime location for future successes in the Middle East and beyond if handled well.

@luckymoose: No.

@Warman17: The reason I eliminated Regional Powers is the same reason that all nations can't build influence: Because it's additional effort and I'm trying to streamline things as much as possible in some elements in order to allow me some freetime outside of NESing. Influence is much easier to deal with when it's only a few nations than all of them. Your idea admittedly is a good one, but it'd take quite a bit of effort as soon as every single nation starts trying to build influence among each other.

@Karalysia I reject your view of Galicia. Try one of the nations I recommended in the PM. If you had said you were just going to go crazy in round one I would have told you that list in the first place. I was sort of hoping for some level of common sense, but oh well.

We do not trust infidels such as yourself, we reject your treaty.

We see very little to gain from such a treaty with you, therefore we respectfully decline.

To: Borneo
From: Bugis Republic

While we look to maintain amicable relations, we have no desire to involve ourselves in your proposed treaty.

@EQ, OK, I'll go for Turkey.

Is the stuff from the original ABNW III canon? All three updates?

- The Russian government has never stated that we want war.
- Your country is far too backwards to be able to host any kind of delegation of ours.

OOC:
Sorry for being mean, but, well, that's what in-character Russia would do. Also: until you become a world power, you're likely to be treated this way by nearly everyone :/.

Also ChiefDesigner, remember you are a dictatorship. Hardly somebody that the democracies of the world are going to listen to on the topic of playing nice.

Think if Qadaffi or someone tried to start his own international organization and invite the major powers in.

While Borneo isn't exactly a nation worthy of being imitated due to the lack of human rights in their territory, their idea of having an international organization where swords may be beaten into plowshares is a good one. However, we do not think that Borneo's capital would be a good place to host such an organization, and thus propose for Geneva, Switzerland to be such hosts, as both city and nation are renowned for their neutrality in the whole world.

Seoul is a more appropriate place for such an organization. Europe is no longer the center of the world.

What is this pansy nonsense?

@EQ: Nijeria's Power Status in the stats is missing.

Nijeria notes that most of Africa is under the magnificent rule of France. We believe the rest of Africa is perpetuating its own irrelevance by failing to have any body like APACS that can coordinate its common action for its common good, especially as the independent parts form a fairly contiguous body stretching along Africa's west coast. Therefore we propose the establishment of the Conference for West African Co-operation (CWAC) to help us to trade and research in common, and prevent the escalation of disputes by our nations on any matter.

We ask New England, Sweden, Virginia, South Africa, Ovambia, Togo, Mali, Liberia, and Nova Brazil to join the association as equal members.

Furthermore, we would be delighted to send a delegation to any summit held by any legitimate government for any reasonable purpose.

- Your country is far too backwards to be able to host any kind of delegation of ours.

We are only concerned with outcomes, not with prestige. Does the Russian government object to the principle of a conference? Or its current implementation?

If Russia objects to the implementation, host a similar conference in Moscow and we shall send a delegation.

If Russia objects to the principle of a conference to end war--then the Russian government can only said to want war.

Regardless, Borneo will send a delegation to Geneva--with the permission of the Swiss government, naturally.

OOC: No worries. I can take a few elbows ;)

To all peace-loving nations:

The world is weary of war. The last eighty years have seen ceaseless, senseless conflicts on the tiniest of pretexts--or, even, no pretext at all. More people have died since 1900 than were born in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, combined. Let us make war no longer, and beat our swords into plowshares; for the first time in ten generations, let there be peace on Earth, and good will towards men.

The government of Borneo invites all concerned nations to the city of Hsinching (Jesselton, Kota Kinabalu) to establish a League of Nations--a parliament of humanity, to resolve our differences with words and not bullets; let us replace the anarchy between nations with an arrangement for collective security.

The following is an automated response from the Foreign Affairs Council of the National Republic of France

Greetings!

We must unfortunately decline your offer as it does not lie within our interests at the moment. Thank you for your suggestion!

Sincerely,
Foreign Affairs, N.R.F.

We do not see the necessity of such an organization as the civilized world has enjoyed enforced peace for the better part of the past 30 years.

Wouldn't it be better if it were a peace held by the common will of all the civilized nations as opposed to the fear of the actions of a few?

@All of you: First, I'd like to point out that any international peace organziation at this point would be meaningless without France, so if France rejects, recommendations would be to give it up. That would be why NPCs are completely ignoring any such movement made by players at this point. As stated already, the original ABNW III is to be completely ignored for the events which took place, unless they were also mentioned in the background thread or abridged history. Also will be posting Update 0 tonight, God willing.

@bombshoo: Damn you, I was hoping to sneak that in before anyone noticed.

@spryllino: Power Status has been removed from all stats. Read the rules.

We do not desire an alliance, as such; who is there to ally against anyway? We merely desire a Conference whereby we may ensure that there is no possibility of aggression between our nations, which can surely only work in your interests too, and whereby we may sort out our differences, perhaps including our differences over our shared past under the Danish monarchy, and whereby we can make sure that trade runs smoothly. We fail to understand how you could refuse such a harmless proposal.

To Liberia and Nova Brazil
From Nijeria

Why not come together and use the conference to sort out your differences and turn your countries away from your largely useless wars?

Failing that, would you each join if it were not for the other?

From Nijeria

Quite true too; your slavery is barbaric and you know it. You enjoy being cut off from the rest of the world for the sake of it. We extend the hand of friendship to you, despite your flagrant illegitimacy and barbarism and you cast it aside? Why? We are happy to work with you, despite the fact that you are selfish barbarians. Why will you not reciprocate?
