Konrell Naming Conventions

Konrell adult names take the following form:
{rank} {personal name} {ship/island}

Ranks (gender neutral):
[none] - King (or High King)/captain (the captain of a ship or king of an island are held to be essentially synonymous with their ship/island so do not require a rank prefix)
Ast - Landowner
Jel - Officer (on ships with more than one officer this is followed by their precedence, Ek [first], Kot [second], Mon [third], Tan [fourth])
Fonma - Crewman without special duties
Fonsed - Crewman with special duties
Po - Serf

Personal names:
Male | Female
Geres|Laal
Jalan|Yerrel
Nevitt|Fottraal
Loddutt|Boora
Zeren|Mersana
Kirrinn|Kotal
Melan|Jebaraal
Jezen|Nefra
Ser|Galindra

Vorlen|Iva
Delestiren|Ulemna
Toten|Heraal
Neben|Kottiru
Quilar|Forl

Pallen|Otira
Mitiser|Zeera

Island names:
Kontel (the largest island), Konret (the northern small island), Kontan (the north-western small island), Konmal (the south-western small island)

Example ship names:
Talfier, Talmalal, Konveel, Kalifer, Talnit, Jifril, Konkar, Herelin, Galat, Festin

Konrell child name take the following form:
{personal name} {Ana [M]/Anraal [F]} {mothers name (either full or personal depending on formality)}

Notes:
In informal usage only a persons personal name is used. If it is required to distinguish between two Konrell with the same personal name the rank is used as well if they are both from the same crew/island or the ship/island name if they are not. In the rare event two Konrell have exactly the same full name they tend to acquire a nickname which is used instead of a personal name.

In the event that a significant number of Konrell settle down to a shorebound existence the ship/island part of the name will likely be expanded to include settlement names.

Birdjaguar, Lord Herobrine,

I used the napkin that i had written our agreement upon to clean up a spill- forgetting that i had written important information on it.

I think i remember it but can you send me PM to remind me of the details in case i got them wrong.

So sorry about that.

Many thanks,
Immac.

Family names are very very rare and are usually used to denote a village or region. This is primarily because of the creche system (see prior story) which breaks down immediate family bonds and replaces them with something larger and more generic.

All names are based on modern Thai names. I am unsure of the exact conventions used but you should have tons of examples to choose from in the above list for a little while at least.

Greetings to the Lords of Misthali from the Clans of the Tamayame

We are more than willing to welcome your merchants into the great harbor and bazaars of Waipio City. Bring your goods and we'll make deals to make us all wealthy.

Please do send your scholars to study in the hallowed rooms of our magnificent Library. Bring your scrolls of knowledge ,great and small, and then drink deep from the well of what we know that all the Serpentin may benefit.

To: Misthali
From: Langoren, Konren Hitifer

We'd of course be happy to trade with you.

Of course, trade is the thread that ties the Serpentin nations together.

Do these trade deals make any difference? I was under the impression that trading was automatic unless otherwise stated.

Termidorian Names

Termidorian names are strictly patrynomic (or matrynomic, depending on the gender of the subject). The Termidorian culture has no concept of family names, and, with no formal bureaucracy, no need for one. Termidorians are delineated by their first names and the names of their maternal or paternal parent, separated by 'teri' meaning roughly 'Son of' or 'meri', meaning daughter of. For example, in the name Turqur teri Turmar, the subject's first name is Turqur, and his father was named Turmar. His father's full name was Turmar teri Burqär, and his father's name was recorded as Burqär teri Turqur, completing the circle. Termidorians are also frequently named after their parents or grandparents.

Male Names

Shamur
Äriqur

Female Names

Why make war declarations public?

So everyone can adjust their orders as needed without several days of order amendments when TLK could be working on the update.

Why make war declarations public?

In regards to going to war in this NES, please, please, please publicly announce it. The turns are 10 years long, and there is no reason that a nation in a cradle should be caught completely unaware of another nation invading a third.

But what if I want to sneak attack nation X?

That's quite fine. Mention that in your orders, and I'll see to it that your army does it's best to sneak attack your foe. But for the purposes of me not having to constantly contact relevant parties, I can safely assume that a sneak attack loses the whole "stealth" benefit at some point within the 10 year period.

For the example of the Termidorian invasion of Lyre- while the Lyrians were caught off guard, there is nothing that leads me to believe that the entire invasion would have been kept on the 'DL' for more than a few months, if not a year. Yes, news travels slow, messengers can be killed, and exceptions can be made. But eventually the Sismondi were going to notice. By publicly posting your DoW's, other players can act accordingly in their orders, and save me a lot of time PMing, and diploing after the deadline.

This isn't me complaining, or attempting to wag my finger at anyone, I just realized the pitfalls of the 10 year turn cycle myself during the update when I realized that other nations had to react somehow. So in the future, please do so. Any questions, comments or criticisms in that regard, I'm happy or willing to answer, respond to, or debate.

You are correct in some aspects; when filling out all the economic forms I had, I had to figure out who is trading with who, so more or less I guessed. I imagined that the friendly Konrell and Misthali are already trading with one another, and so I marked that. The Tog, meanwhile, I had not really trading with anyone save for the Muka and the Karika, both Tog nations. You know, seeing as the Tog were busy up and invading everything in sight. So basically I made judgement calls, which I will adjust according to player action. It doesn't necessarily hurt to make trade agreements, it's just not always necessary. That's the nature of the beast. I'd post who exactly is trading with who currently, but that's a lot of information. Basically, if you are currently on decent terms with them, they're close (the Einion states and Cavharia aren't trading, for example) and have a means to trade with them (i.e, no land-locked nations you don't border), you are trading with them.

Orders sent. The orders themselves follow the new 'priority funding' format we discussed. If the orders are okay, please just nod to yourself quietly and no need for a response. if they are not okay, please post or reply.
