A moment for Strider

Unfortunatley, this kinda stuff happens on the net, more often than you might think.

I want to find a perfectly innocent explaination to all this, but the more I think about it, the more I convince myself that someone has lied here.

I'm aware that it happens, and quite a bit, but it doesn't make it right, acceptable, or appreciated.

Maybe some banning and ostricizing from sources that the perpetrator originally enjoyed, might be educational on proper ettiquite.

And, to another point on this, someone who would be willing to hoax, bull and lie on an internet site, where you see no one, and it doesn't matter, would also be just as apt to lie in their RL as well. To put not too fine a point on it, the individual's RL is most likely wrapped up in their Virtual life aswell.

@Vanadorn - That was a nice little piece.

Every minute that 'his girlfriend' doesn't make a post to explain I become more and more convinced that this is a lie.

Vanadorn; Spot on. Nice Post.

I suspect that we might not hear much from Strider 'round these parts anymore.

I quadruple-checked to make sure that I had the right day, hour, and AM/PM before posting this.

According to a site I found
http://www.timeanddate.com/library/abbreviations/timezones/na/edt.html
http://www.timeanddate.com/library/abbreviations/timezones/na/est.html

SO I think you might be wrong there as I also have a friend Centeral US who says he is one hour behind me. And I do hope you are wrong.

Actually, I hope bootstoots is right. That way no one was hurt and someone was just playing a (sick?) joke. Isn't that the lesser of the two evils?

Don't know what to say about this. But plz keep in mind that as long there is at least a small % that it is actually true we should keep it like that, would be horrible if it is true and he reads this.

Strider lives in/near St. Louis, Mo. - Central Daylight Time. Boots is posting from Indiana, many counties of which do *NOT* switch to Eastern Daylight Time in the summer, but stay on Standard time instead. EST = CDT.

It is fairly easy to check yourself, regardless of the time zone.

Look at the time stamp of this post:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=1769146#post1769146

to the time of the post that started this thread.

Just a few minutes over 1 hour difference. While it may seem illogical, I do think it is possible someone could (in times of distress) lose the concept of time, so 1 hour gets changed to 2.5 hours. But could 1 hour have passed between the time he left his computer, got into the accident, gets to the hospital, girlfriend finds out about it, and then gets on-line and tells everyone about it? Depends if the girlfriend went to the hospital or not before going into the chatroom.

Could be, but I asked Doe if she wrote that post in VS1, and she said yes.

hi..

Is their any news story?

I mean, I just heard about this (was wonderin why his name was "Doe" in the chatroom) and falling off a bridge?? No story about it??

And how come the ****tiest of things always happens to strider?

(bus, his g/f, now this?)

If its true, I'm sorry about this post.

Of course, I think its 99% bull****. :)

Funny thing is this...

A month or two ago, strider left the chatroom (#civfanatics) because CivGeneral was banned "unfairly" for a few days (no one seems to care when I get banned...... :crazyeye: ) and he said he wouldn't come back until everything war righted.

Except no one ever "righted" the situation...he never came back to the chatroom.

Until the time of his injury when "Doe" came into the room to tell everyone something bad has happened etc etc...

Now he's going to be in the hospital for 3-5 weeks? After everything was lookin relatively okay?

I think he will use that 3-5 weeks to make everyone in the chatroom (no offense to you posters) to forget that he ever left in the first place.

And if he really is 16 (who knows?) get a freakin job and work.

That is all.

What's VS1?

This whole thing is ugly... you don't know what you can take for the truth or at least what you should hope to be the truth. Bah. :(

VS1 is his succession game (Vo Spader <-- the nick he wanted to change to).

And how is this different from most of what you encounter on the internet?

I never bothered to post in this thread, though I am playing an SG with Strider.
I read the thread, and the first thing I thought: probably not true....
As sad as it may sound, I did exactly the same.

It is just not plausible. If it should be true anyway I apologize, but I'm sorry, the things that Stapel mentioned are already unlikely though not impossible (but shouldn't they have had much more of an impact on him?).
Then there is "bleeding out of the ear again" after hours (or days?), alright I'm no doctor and if I'm wrong please correct me but isn't that very unlikely? What were they doing to him in the meantime?!?

The time factor mentioned by Bootstoots is just another aspect.

And no, it's not funny (again, assuming it is not true). It takes no skill to fake it, in fact it could be faked much more realistic.
But if it comes out as faked it will inevitably take credibility away from those who might really suffer something like that in the future, they won't be believed as easily. And that might be everyone here...

Didn't say there was a difference... that's one of the bad things about the net.

I'm not really affected by this story here, I've not been here long and have no particular feelings about Strider, but of course he has my best wishes if it's true. But I've been the victim of online mind games before, and I utterly despise them. Although it's hard to tell who you should feel more sorry for, the victims of these games or the sorry existences who need to play them for some fake attention or fake feeling of superiority.

Anyway... innocent until proven guilty. So let's wait and see.
