Why on earth does Penn State university keep a statue of a sick old sod who knew children were being abused by one of his staff but covered it up ?
How the hell does a mere football coach get so much power ?
Are US universities for the education of the young ? or are they just there to raise the egos of old men ?

He demanded the use of a private aircraft LOL.

The people running the university probably have some important business to take care of now. They should and probably will take down the statue soon.

This is the first time I can remember otago posting something about the United States that isn't both comically outdated and obscure. It's only slightly outdated now.

Progress?

It's also pratically agreeable as well. I'd say that's progress.

A person's acts in one's field does not diminish or affect one's deeds in another sphere. It is reasonable to condemn a person's actions in one field while at the same time recognizing his laudatory accomplishments in another.

That said, a statue that honors the man, rather than the deeds, probably could come under scrutiny in the light of maleficence.

While true, it's also all too easy for the bad stuff to be swept under the rug and forgotten.

Far better to remember both.
