[A very crippled] Michael J. Fox on stem cell research

Oh, I think Rush Limbaugh talking about MJF's medications is stooping much lower:

Limbaugh is a Loser

I love how conservatives always look at the truth, and call it low. Ha ah ha
I don't pay much attention to Limbaugh (I generally only find out he's said something when I see people attacking him <g>), and his choice of words clearly (IMO) demonstrates classlessness, but IF Fox appeared in the commercial without his meds, it would not be unprecedented.
I had made a deliberate choice to appear before the subcommittee without medication. It seemed to me that this occasion demanded that my testimony about the effects of the disease, and the urgency we as a community were feeling, be seen as well as heard.

Now, whether appearing without having taken his medication was inappropriate is another matter entirely. IF he did so (I don't know whether he did or not) to garner support for a political candidate through sympathy, then yes, I think it was inappropriate.

Oh, and to continue the vein of the post I cited...

I love how liberals always look at the truth, but can't even recognize it. Ha ah ha

I don't know what to discuss: the sad state of Michael J. Fox whose Parkinson's disease seems to have worsened incredibly, the matter of allowing stem cell research, or the use of one like him in a political pathos commercial - don't forget that Michael J. Fox is Canadian, which makes the situation a bit more awkward.

Judging by the nature of the board I have a feeling that this will turn into some religious pro-life discussion, but I'd prefer that we deterred from that in the first couple of posts...

Kind of funny how MJ Fox is in such a sad state when he appears for the Democratic Party to support them in the upcoming election, but somehow can maintain his composure for appearences on Boston Legal.

In five second clips? Really, again with nothing but bashing John? Surely you know that in TV they can do multiple takes of a scene and then integrate them to look 'normal', don't you? Though I think I'm changing my mind; his symptoms look greater than they should be on an optimized drug regimen - though I can say again that Parkinson's really does look like that, even while on medication. His medication might not be 'tuned' for a TV appearance (which would last probably about an hour), but they should be nearly 'standard' for regular day.

Last time you mentioned stem cells, I said I'd be happy to explain any questions or specifics once a stem cell thread popped up. Would you like to talk about any of the 'intuitive' objections you have to stem cell research?

The link to refute all the claims on Michael J. Fox - and those of Rush.

The Washington Post said:
n an interview in Ladies Home Journal’s September edition, Fox said he was taking a medication that causes jerking, fidgeting and other abnormal involuntary movements, known as dyskinesia. Fox said he was taking another medication to lessen those side affects.
An official of the National Parkinson Foundation said movements like those exhibited by Fox are the result of taking medication to treat the disease, which would otherwise result in rigidity.
“When you see someone with those movements, it’s not because they have not taken medication but because they probably have taken medication for some time,” the official said. “If you don’t take the medication, then you freeze.”

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, but yet another thing has come up; Katie Couric has interviewed Michael J. Fox in person, so that all those skeptics can be shut up.

Unfortunately bad framerate blurs the impression of exactly how hard the disease is on him.

And I think its funny (that's putting it kindly) that someone will completely disparage a crippled person to puff out their chest on a forum or because it fits their partisan hackery.

Funny, where are the conservatives decrying how he did similar advocacy work for Arlen Spector in 2004?

As for Boston Legal, that was a few months ago and he condition has apparently detoriated since then.
