AAranda's mods for 2.8 (some of them)

I have just updated the first post with a single file for the non-RoM religions of AAranda. Each religion is still a module I have just put them all in one file for easy down loading. Each can be turned on or off by editing the MLF file or by moving the folder for the religion out (Note deleting or renaming the folder will also work).

I have fixed all the GameText, I think.
I have added Ngai which I had missed because I thought it was Nagi :)

OK i will be the firs then to d/l and test it out, also, if you dont want others for right now to use Warriors from The_J could i get a copy, cause i winmerged them from his to mine already.

No one told me I had not attached the file! I have now but I now think I may have missed something to do with the python callback replacement. But it is bedtime now so I will leave it until tomorrow.

I just realised that I had forgotten to make the Ngai holy shrine buildable by the great prophet. there is a patch in my first post to fix this. Unfortunately it is not save game compatible.

AAranda is BACK!

Old news. AAranda looked at my profile 2 weeks ago. :p

I've seen Jooyo lurking here too. I suspect that they are tired of modding and just curious what became of their pet projects. I'm sure they were surprised by how I seem to gobble everything up...

I have updated the OP with a new version of AAranda's Units. It is now of sufficient quality to be merged into A.N.D. and out of here ;)

Could you give a bit more details for each of the religions, I.E, do they work, are the units and buildings okay, etc...

I would love to add these extra religions, but don't have the time to comb through the XML just to find it out...

I am still doing a bit of work on the new religions, I think I have found out how to make the Druidic and Animistic religions work - the AI for the units may have been wrongly defined. I have changed it for one and now the AI is spreading the religion - I don't know how to test that it is building the buildings yet. I also need to put in some graphics, Arian just published "The Tower of babel" movie. The other thing I missed was AAranda's readme. So I should have a quality final working version next week. (I forgot sounds - on my list now. Now were did I put that Rapture mod - on to plunder!)

The units on the other hand are ready to go ;) Although I was thinking of splitting them into three components and expanding the forced worker to include a slave unit.

any eta on a 2.81 version?

When I get slavery tech I automatically get forzed worker. I thought the purpose was for it to be given with Slavery civic? Otherwise it becomes OP as it is :).

Yea, that is what the doco and XML say! You get the ability to build forced workers when you get the tech slavery. Nothing in the mod about civics.

So are you going to make it a civic only unit? Because it would look bizarre having that unit far into modern age :D.

I decided to start a new thread for this rather than post to the 2.7 version. When AAranda comes back he can have these back as well :)

It will take awhile to get them converted.

Works in 2.8 and 2.81 of RoM.

Known Issues
  1. Shinto not loading - change the 0 to 1 for Shinto in the MLF file in the Modules/AAranda/Custom_Religions folder.
  2. Sounds are not included yet.

Religions - these are in compressed files with the full folder structure starting with Rise of Mankind.

AAranda's Religion Pack Part 1 for RoM 2.8 (9.00 MB)
Contains:-
  • Animism
  • Andean
  • Asatru
  • Druid
  • Mesopotamian
  • Ngai
  • Scientology
  • Shinto - note I also have one of these as does StrategyOnly
  • Tengri
  • Voodo
  • Yoruba
All these have had the text (names, pedia and strategy) moved out of the object XML and put into GameText XML files. There should be an entry now for everything even if it is a "not available yet" comment.

Enhanced Religions - need modifications to the base RoM files
  • Buddhism
  • Christianity
  • Confucianism
  • Egypt This one is turned out to be modular 22nd Nov '9
  • Hellenism
  • Hindu
  • Islam
  • Judaism
  • Nagi
  • Taoism
  • Zorocasterism

Units
Sea animals are in Afforess' Sea Monsters Mod.
This means there are the story teller and celebrity variations on the RoM entertainer unit. A surgeon which is a better medic and sniper units in this pack.

Buildings - comming soon, I have just started on them.

Hey mr. Dancing Hoskuld,

Could you please post shotscreens showing a little bit more of the new religions developed in this mod?
Including for example the tech tree with them and the screen showing their unique buildings and the holy shrines.

I´m particulary interested in andean ones.

Another simple but important thing:

What do I do after dowloading this religious pack? How to install it?

What about the "A New Dawn"? What I do after the download is complete? Do I simply copy the folder into the mod folders of the BTS?

Could you please help me?

Going to argue that there is different colored slaves even to this day. but the polite name is low wages worker.

Other than that, back to the topic...
Better to stick with limited civic slave for the sake of general historical realism.

I had to sleep on this. This is not my mod do I have the right to mess with someone else's creation? Yes I have fixed the spelling and wording of a few items into, I hope, better English. I have even fixed the spread religion problem for the Druidic and Animalistic religions. But is making such a change as restricting a unit to a civic something I should do as a person just maintaining a mod? I am still debating this.

There is a read me text file included in the mod - oh wait, I haven't uploaded that yet. See attached below :). It is what AAranda originally provided with some inclusions by me.

The compressed file for this modmod contains the directory structure for Rise of Mankind so yes you extract it into the Mods folder. I will update the first post with install instructions.
