AAranda's mods for 2.8 (some of them)

I had to sleep on this. This is not my mod do I have the right to mess with someone else's creation? Yes I have fixed the spelling and wording of a few items into, I hope, better English. I have even fixed the spread religion problem for the Druidic and Animalistic religions. But is making such a change as restricting a unit to a civic something I should do as a person just maintaining a mod? I am still debating this.

You can always ask what other people did in Similar situations. I "maintain" Jooyo's modmod's.

Some of them, I abandonded, because I found that they were too game-breaking, like civic attitudes. Others I made tweaks to, for instance, Larger Cities only occurs with Influential culture, player's get not choice when installing like Jooyo gave. I have also changed some of Jooyo's original code, adding AI valuations and improving on it.

My advice:

Don't Lock Yourself In. AAranda is not coming back; you have creative liberty, do what you want to do.

In which case I would probably make it a unit you get every so often in cities that have a slave market. Especially now that I have written a more efficient bit of code for crusaders. You would not be able to build it normally.

In addition to Afforess' advice, I point to the ram unit :). Originally, AAranda had it at Military Training and higher strength. You merged in my tweaks instead. Therefore, you were already stepping out of the AAranda's shadow, so to speak. But with respect due to his great work, though! That is good. That is what ultimately what AND will be, a great tribute to the Giant Zappara's mod, thereupon Afforess will stand and see a great future therefrom :D.

There is a read me text file included in the mod - oh wait, I haven't uploaded that yet. See attached below :). It is what AAranda originally provided with some inclusions by me.

The compressed file for this modmod contains the directory structure for Rise of Mankind so yes you extract it into the Mods folder. I will update the first post with install instructions.

This .7z file is like a zip file. After extracting, which program can be used to read the file appropriately?

What about the screenshots? Is that possible to post some here?

Just a thought on Yoruba. Did you keep its associated tech as Music? I just figured, for a unique tech that founds the religion, what of...

Oral Tradition

Prerequisite - Meditation and Literature or Music

  • First to discover founds Yoruba
  • Can build Public Square

Public Square

  • +1 :) with Agora
  • +10% :culture:
  • +5% Maintenance
  • Requires Courthouse
  • Prerequisite for City Park
  • Slightly increases City Growth?

I use 7zip to extract the files. Extract into the folder you have Rise of Mankind in and the content will be available in the game. Almost all of the files are XML which is why this is considered a Civ IV XML modcomp.

I could post some screen shots but I don't know what sort of thing I should post.

Except that Oral Tradition should come way before writing this would be a good idea.

Then would that justify Yoruba being an early religion? Just want to be sure and all so...

Oral Tradition

Prerequisite - Ritualism

I'll drop the +5% for Public Square, but keep the Courthouse prerequisite.

By the way,
I was readind more in this forum and I could see that this modmod is avaiable to RoM 2.7, including the wonders Terracotta Army and Newchstain Castle, but unfortunatly they don't make part of RoM 2.8. Do you have an idea when it is gonna be avaiable as a component for this new and actual version, or included in a New Dawn?

Terracotta Army is in A.N.D., no idea about Neuschwanstein, though.

Yes Yorba should be an early religion. I am thinking on it.

In that case, just to recap.

Mysticism founds Animism
Naturopathy founds Druidism
Shamanism founds Shinto
Oral Tradition founds Yoruba
Horseback Riding founds Tengri

Also, if we keep the public square, maybe make Oral Tradition and City Planning combined, permit its construction.

I am running out of attachment space on the forums so I will need to go back and delete some old stuff before I can load up any screen shots.

Newchstain Castle is included in the extra wonders mod RoM Modular Wonders by generalstaff which I think has been added into "A New Dawn". I am working on AAranda's buildings also - the problems come when there are two with the same name that do different things.

Another thing,

I've seen that AAranda prepared a mod including more corporations.

http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=12709

Is tha t included in AND? Is there any intention to increase the number of corps? It should be very nice for a larger game as RoM and their modmods.

I doubt that I will do the corporations but then I was not going to do the units or buildings either :)

A new version of the units file has been uploaded. The Forced Worker now requires the building slave market before you can build the unit.

Please, I need another help.

I've finished the downloading of AND, version 1.53, and it is a .exe file.

I tried to install it but I'm probably doing something wrong.

Could tou help me, telling what is necessary to install the AND. I'm playing the RoM 2.81.

Both are. The wonders that are in A New Dawn are from my Modular Wonders. That means if you want to play with more wonders, it is better to use the ones from A New Dawn than AAranda's

The only problem there is that the Slave Market is obsolete with Labor Union, and Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan used forced labor.

"A New Dawn" is very touchy on where it is installed and when. It needs to be installed into a Rise of Mankind which has no other mods installed. this is why I have a clean "Rise of Mankind 2_81" folder which I copy to a new "Rise of Mankind" folder when I want to install AND. I then copy/install all the other mods I use including these.

The actual install AND instructions say this. Also you have to make sure that none of the folders in Rise of Mankind are "read only" and in Vista you need to run the exe in admin mode.

Were is this Forced worker? I looked in the files and find nothing about it?
