AAranda's mods for 2.8 (some of them)

Just remove the entire RoM folder from the BTS Mods folder and start again. You could reinstall Civ IV/BTS too if you felt that was necessary.

I would advise a complete removal of Civ IV & a fresh reinstallation, starting with Civ IV and working up towards BTS and 3.19. Then reinstall the RoM/AND mods.

If you think it will help, deinstall Civ IV, defrag your hard drive and then start the reinstallation process.

Tried to install Part3/4, with Extra Static Movies and always get an error and it wont load??

I am going to look into this, I have just had RL problems. Parts 3/4 of what buildings? By Extra Static Movies I presume you mean my mods not my converted AAranda stuff. It may just be that I did not make the compressed files correctly.

Hello there

This my first post in this forum, and I have some questions. I hope it's the right hread.

I have installed the RoM Mod 2.81 with the AAranda religions mod. So this is a fine mod, but with the modmod I can't get it to work properly.
I have tried the following:

If I run the mod plain, everything is fine, but I can't choose every civ. Some of them do not appear in the pull down menu. F.e. Abu Bakr and Afonso I.

For starting with the modmod (or even the Mega Civ Pack) I have to set ModularLoading to 1.

If I start with the modmod I get the following error message during start:

Tag: BUILDINGCLASS_GROVE in Info class was incorrect
Current file is:
modules\aaranda\custom_religions\shintoandshamanism\shintoandshamanism_civ4buildinginfos.xml

Same message comes for BUILDINGCLASS_CASTLE_GARDEN and BUILDINGCLASS_CITY_PARK. After clicking ok the game starts. In the MLF ShintoandShamanism is set to 0. I also now can choose any civ that comes with the full RoM. I also tried this with the megapack, here I also can choose any civ.

While I'm in the game I can't open the city advisor and the revolution advisor (revelution option is chosen).

Playing with a plain RoM, set ModularLoading to 0 I can open those advisors. But I do not have the modmod for not playing it. ;)

So here are my questions:

1) Is it normal that not all civs appear when playing the plain RoM?
2) Is it normal to set ModularLoading = 1 for playing with modmods?
3) What do the error messages mean? How can I prevent the errors?
4) why do I have the named advisors when playing with ModularLoading = 0 and a plain RoM, but not when playing with modmod and ModularLoading = 1

Before I startet first time with AArandas mod I ran the woc_installer.

Here some Infos about the configuration:

Windows Vista 64bit
BtS 3.19
RoM 2.81
AAranda downloaded here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=340917 yesterday.

Installation: first RoM, then AAranda's modmod, then running woc_installer.

Thx for helping.

1. don't know what that problem is. I have not experienced it so the answer is no ;).

2. modularloading should be 0. You probably have to have to edit the MLF file inthe Rise of Mankind/Assets/Modules folder to include AAranda's stuff.

To fix: Add in the following.
Code:
				<Module>
					<Directory>AAranda</Directory>
					<bLoad>1</bLoad>
				</Module>
Also see Tutorial - Adding Entries to MLF file.

3. the error messages are because ShintoAndShamanism is active which requires AND. You are not using AND so you should use Shinto only. It may be that I put the wrong MLF entries in one of the downloads.

To fix: Go into the Rise of Mankind/Assets/Modules/AAranda/Custom_Religions folder. Edit MLF_CIV4ModularLoadingControls.xml in notepad or other text editor. Find Shinto and make sure that the lines look like
Code:
				<Module>
					<Directory>Shinto</Directory>
					<bLoad>[B]1[/B]</bLoad>
				</Module>
				<Module>
					<Directory>ShintoAndShamanism</Directory>
					<bLoad>[B]0[/B]</bLoad>
				</Module>

It looks like I am going to need to do some more work on AAranda's stuff :(

I have tried much to run RoM, and now it does.

Here is what I have done.

1) I checked the files. ShintoAndShamanism is set to 0. It originally was. I left it. Then I set ModularLoading to 0. I also checked it in the BtS-config. Also 0. Ok. But I still can't Aarandas religions. :(

2) I checked why I can't load some civ's. Reason is simple. They aren't in the config for available civs. Seems that just the ModluarLoading setting made them available. That was simple. Or maybe not... :mischief:

3) I installed A new Dawn (1.53 plus patch 1.55). It caused BtS to crash. After uninstalling it the mod didn't get back to work. :sad:

4) I've changed the location. Instead of the BtS-folder in mygames I put everything to the programs folder again (like recommended, but first try there didn't work). Result: BtS didn't find the mod. Like in first try. :confused:

5) After backing up everything I completely uninstalled BtS, deleted any folders and set it up new. And of course patch 3.19 ;)

6) Now installed 2.8 and patch 2.81 to the program folder, started BtS and - now it gets funny - now BtS finds the mod! Why not in first try? Confusing. And so step 2 gets wrong. Who cares? I have all the civs. Little more confusing. :crazyeye:

7) Now I installed Aarandas modmod and ran the woc_installer. I started BtS. No changes, just wanted to see what happens. Here's my map, and? F7... relgions. All available. F1.. uhhh a cityadvisor. Revolutions? Yepp... there the advisor is. :D

If I would not have ears you can imagine me grinning around my head. Why it didn't work the first time in that folder? I don't know.

Thx for help :goodjob: , and now I have to rule a world...

I just have found a religion, was animism, and I've heard an old known sound of BtS. Before installing RoM I had a mod called JARM, which also enabled some new religions but not allowed to found more than BtS. There for all relgions were new sounds, films and so on. I'm shure you've heard of it. Have you ever thought about to integrate it, or parts of it?

I have done some of them, but matching the sounds from one set of religions to another set is not always straight forward. I plundered johnny smiths' Rapture mod but have not looked at JARM yet. Their druid and shaman sounds aren't to bad, I will look into including them.

New patch for religions is on the first post. It adds unique sounds for Druid and Shaman religions. I recycled the JARM ones.

There is also an aestetic change to bothe of these religions. Now only the first of the four religious buildings appear on the tech tree. This is because the other three require the first before you can build them so why clutter the tree which is getting more cluttered all the time.

Those errors occur because that modmod requires A New Dawn.

Hey Mr. Dancing Hoskuld,

Unfortunately AND doesn't work in my Notebook. I'll change for a new one and I'll try again.

But let me ask once more:

Could you make "ShintoAndShamanism" work for ROM 2.8/2.81 ???

Another question:

Are you planning to include the religions founding movies (Nagi, Yoruba and Andean) and sounds missing (Nagi, Scientology, Voodoo or Yoruba) in the mod ?

I am considering it. AND is moving to far away from RoM for my liking. Althoug there are somethings I really like in it.

The problem here is finding existing graphics and sounds. If I find them I will include them.

You are entitled to your opinion, but how is this even possible when every feature is optional, and I have a "lite" option that only installs speed improvements and leaves RoM alone? :confused:

Maybe I should have said Better RoM has moved too far from RoM. It has some nice things in it but they are not options its are all or nothing.

Maybe fragmenting Better RoM might have some virtue to it then.

Okay, that makes more sense.

This isn't the place to discuss it, but it's unlikely that I would ever do that. Taking only part of the changes would be worse than none at all.
