AAranda's mods for 2.8 (some of them)

Corporations... desperately wanted!

When are these going to be addressed?

Better yet... what must I do to adjust the old 2.71 Corporations files to make them compatable?

I wasn't going to do them but then I wasn't going to do the units or buildings either. It will take time off my other stuff. I'll have a quick look.
 
Foret it :) - I posted a quick and dirty version but I had forgotten to check the little icons that appear by the city - they are wrong...

Like I said, if I had clue how to go about it myself I'd be more than happy to not only do that but add about another 30 corporations or so. I'd love to learn how but I'm sooo lost with modding in general at the moment.

These mods are just XML, that is except for the graphics everything is in the XML. The graphics for the little icons are in the file they should be in, so the XML is probably just pointing to the wrong element in the list/array.
 
This is a quick and dirty conversion of AAranda's Corporations for use in Rom 2.81. It does not have language support and I have not made it fully modular.

Hey, I've been a long time lurker on the forums here, and only got around to creating an account just now. I'm a big fan of corporations as well, and seeing that many religions, and only standard corps? Ouch. I had modded a couple of AAranda's Corporations into modular form awhile back, and did it again today, which I've attached below, but I've run into a few problems... seems they won't play nice with each other.

To wit, if you use just one (I only did fashion and burgerworld for starters), then it'll work just fine in the civpedia and in the game. But if you use both (modular loading, of course), well, they'll get scrambled with each other in the civpedia.. ie, icons from burgerworld shows up in fashion, and vice versa. This shouldn't happen at all, since they each have their own unique identifier.

Right now, I'm running ROM 2.81, latest AND (1.55, all checked but sea monsters), AAranda/Dancing Hoskuld's buildings and all religions, Mega civ addon, Holy Wars loaded, ROME 3.05, Dancing Hoskuld's Hunter, tea mod, stragetic grain (I get pink square in the BULL(still haven't figure that out), plus had to change the file name to get the national wonder to work), warrior of god, and Sarkyn's stone.

If anyone can tell me where the heck I've gone wrong or missed, I'd be more than happy to finish off the modular conversion, plus add any other corps(you'd have to provide graphics, I'm no artist). And, how to get all that stuff to show up in the BULL (that's right? the graphics when ya hover the mouse over the city?) Fraid my previous modding experience was in Galactic Civilizations 2... a few years ago, heh. I've been more.. gaming than modding, and I love all these mods I mentioned above.

Edit: blah blah, it's all fixed and ready to go. Guilds too. Check the Custom Corporations thread. Cleaning up files/threads.

Issues with the city hover (BULL) are caused by whitespace in the path. You have to rename folders and icons with _ instead of whitespace.

As for modding experiance, you seem to have 10x the knowledge of the average user. If you did all that by yourself, it's not that much bigger of a step to creating your own content.

Ok, so noob question here... when you say it isn't fully modular, you mean? Is there something I have to do then to make this work right?

It means that it overwrites some base RoM files, which *could* make in incompatible with other modmods, like AND. I believe DH provided a patch for anything that interferes with AND though.
 
If its the one at the beginning of this thread, I'll try it out.

I'll report back if there's any trouble of course.

Also... @CivTbone: I could probably sort out how to do the graphics. Maybe we should start a planning thread for corporation development?

If I can get the conversion of AAranda corporations (and maybe Vincentz') to play nicely as modules, then sure, I'd be up for that. I've some time to play around (not that much, but some). Someone suggested some corps in the modmod requests thread, that may be nice to have.
 
Well, mind you, I'm still sorting a lot of things out here, even where graphics are concerned, but yeah, I'm looking into how to do the graphics side. I used to 3d model some and have some clue there, as well as being rather proficient with 2d graphics. Could be fun. A lot of changes in the works in my life atm but I can try to make some time for it. Keep me posted on progress with those corps... vincentz would be nice too!

Whitespace, eh? I remember reading that somewhere else, I just thought it was for something else, I think, I can't remember, heh. Learn something new every day. Thanks!
 
@Thunderbrd... I can do at that. I be knocking off for the night, and I'll probably take another crack at it tomorrow.

For the graphics side, there's plenty of threads about to give ya a helping hand/heads up.
 
I was looking all for that Hunting module you made, cant remember where it was, but its nice in the beginning to have the Hunter, but its pretty much useless after that, cause it takes longer to get the Hunting Lodge and then Hawk, then the unit itself, at only a 3 hp?

Too much for too little, and by then your into 5-7 hits pts with other units already.

The request was for the merge only. I was then expecting people to play with it and the tell me where the problems were so I could balance it to RoM after all it was made for BTS. It comes with sounds for the hawk but I have not figured them out yet.
