Has anyone bought PTW (for PC) and added-in the extra units/civs to a Mac mod of Civ3? Does this work?

I'm keen to add the extra military units and extra Civs to my expanding Mac mod (25 extra units so far... Special Forces, Dreadnought, Ballista, Trebuchet, Adventurer, Iroquois Warrior, Japanese Archer, Navy Jet Bomber+Fighter, Ground Attack Jet, Jet Bomber, Avro Vulcan, B-52, Spitfire, Me109, Stuka, Lancaster Bomber, Challenger Tank, WW2 Carrier, Jeep, Light Recon Vehicle, SR-71 Blackbird, MiG21, Mirage Jet, Harrier Jump Jet...)

thanks

Fruno

Technically you would be able to do this if you owned both licenses for the software in both Civ3v1.29 and in PTW, although if you read the letter of the license for PTW you would find this to be prohibitted.

It would be illegal to install the PTW into a Civ3 game if had not paid for that privilege.

Regardless what you did, it would be a violation of the copyright law to distribute, share, or otherwise invite other players to join in your fun once you implemented this mod.

If you will look at the GOTM basic modifications that have been implemented for the games you will see that we have implemented legal substitute units for all the Unique units as well as a number of other game features such as Picts for barbarian warriors, Killer squids, and more politically correct upgrades to the Medieval Mace equivalent units.

Many of the added unit concepts do absolutely nothing in the game because the AI is not astute enough to recognize subtle differences in unit abilities. Basically its a cost versus A/D/B strength decision. Multitasking units are particularly inappropriate in the game because the AI assigns the units to only one function at the time they are built.

Have a look at the Games of the Month. The team has added a lot of units and Civs that are the equivalents of PTW units, plus some extras like Fog, Defense, the Cataphract etc.

Obvious points I suppose, but this mod would be for me only...

Thanks, I've played many of these already ;) but never had time to complete them
