[Addons] Additional Wonders

Look at this for Circus Maximus.

I don't like the idea that this is a NW.

Could you imagine a Circus Maximus in each country nowadays?

That´s the same problem in Civ IV with the Moai Statues.

I'm planning do the same for Hermitage museum and Oxford University.

In my opinion, NW should be things like National Museum, National University, etc.

To think i used it as a Classical Era splasher screen... weeks before vanilla made it a National Wonder.

But what people need to realize is the exact significance of such structures in Rome.
Our own sport stadiums draw a lot of crowds with spare money to spend.
Thus, the economics reasoning from devs behind Circus Maximus.

Again, the perception of Wonders is of some relative value in terms of culture or Architecture. Even the abstract notion of Civ4 Internet was simply a silly bad joke, IMO.

When I'll finish the remaining 7 in the list, there will be a total of 20 additional wonders, an exagerated number to play all at once, imo.
Yes, I realize how much is annoying the process to select them one by one, but I wonder how many people would play a mod with 20 more wonders at once?

As side note, I'm going a step ahead on the modding path, and I present to you a list of ancient civs that I'm working on :)

Ancient civs???? If they are as awesome as the wonders, it's exciting. Maybe a civ / wonder pack, eg. Moors and Alhambra.
 
Can you make one big compilation mod with all your wonders. It can be annoying, going through 10 pages of mods and trying to find every one.

I also play with all wonders loaded IMO they make the game much more fun and a compilation of them would make things easier to manage.

As usual on wednesday, I've just released a new wonder: Pont du Gard
Unfortunately the mod has vanished in nowhere, because it doesn't result in the online list. The list has stopped at March 24.
This seems the same issue of a month ago. I hope that 2K guys will solve it asap.

Just a doubt: did you test the text?
I strongly suspect that solomon/parthenon quotes (and may be sphinx) exceed the limited space in the wonder splash screen (because of text lenght and splitted lines).
It should result in a weird display.. Let me know. :confused:

Are you french? I hope you will enjoy Pont du Gard as soon as it becomes available online

NOTE
For historical accuracy, Pont du Gard belongs to classical age.
However, since there are no more free slots in the classical age because of my previous released wonders, I placed the Pont at the beginning of medieval age, tech engineering, which is well suited for the wonder.
The lack of free slots in the classical era is the same reason because of some my previous released wonders are unlocked with weird tech, like Petra with Optics.

You should load dds in GIMP with the following setup:

The culture effect seems a little weak. Usually it only amounts to 2:c5culture: tops whenever I'm in a position to want to build it. Have you thought about making it 1:c5culture: empire-wide? This would synergize more with the second effect (makes your early military units better at capturing cities with the relevant resources) and would lead to more interesting game development.

Also, the 33% unit regeneration is really hard to conceptualize. I never really know what is going to happen or how it even works considering the little green numbers that rise up from my military units are always whole numbers. (Do they heal an extra 1 point every 3 turns??? I would suggest changing it to +1 health healed per turn. Obviously this will have the greatest impact early game which fits in with the flavor of the wonder (though is still useful throughout).

EDIT: Just played a game with a ton of deer nearby. The +2:c5culture: empire wide could probably be too much. I omitted this suggestion from the original post.
 
Empire wide culture change is doadle in percent, not as fixed amount. Fixed amount works for city where the wonder is.
I was thinking about to raise the amount to 2xdeer/fur, but latest patch introduced the weird effect to have lots of the same resource around a place that I would stay with 1
