1) Family; If the Gryphon was protecting Gold in Germany Mines then the Eagle & other real animals were as much protectors to their genetic heritage as the mythical creature.
2) Nature; Direct reference to Modern Environmentalism & GreenPeace as God's equal of Shamanism Manitou for the Algonquins and many more aboriginals of the Americas.
