fine with me ;)

especially the bombers will be a biggie - it is simply not realistic when in modern times a bomber cannot reach across 2/3s the territory of a TINY state!

Air unit ranges were increased in Conquests. I think doubling them may be too much. I would vote for 50% at most & possibly no change.

If you have already gone with 100%, thats ok, but that will be VERY far IMHO and make air totally dominant. We can slay a civ with bombers with ease given their lethal bombardment.

[Edit: I liked the boats though]

I can understand your points Greebly. I'm a bit torn about it myself. Maybe we can agree upon limiting ourselves regarding the use of lethal bombardment once we get in that stage (like only being allowed to gofor border-cties or something).

Agree with the increased movment on sea.
Disagree with the 100% air movement bonus. +50% would be OK. It's not a huge issue though. I've just finished playing a huge Continents map during the Modern Age/Air units, and didn't find the range (increased in Conquests) inconvenient at all. I do remember some frustrating moments during some PTW games though.

Keep it for the stealth bomber.

Are there separate options for lethal sea and land bombardment? If so, we could keep lethal sea bombardment for bombers..

ah, I totally forgot that C3C bombers reach farther.

+50% seems right to me - is that then a consensus? I count 3 votes by now.....

I vote no change to bombers, but can live with 50% increase.

Greebly, bigger than that is not possible. Dunno why exactly.

@Microbe: good question regarding OCN. I assume it is 36 like a huge map, but I am not sure. Having a higher OCN makes it difficult to build the FP with the 512 city limit.

OCN is same as huge according to me (36)

The 4000BC save sent to Aggie

I have only very slightly modified the map to keep into the "spirit of the RNG" usual for an SG...

Our start:

AG3start.jpg

Appears to be a good spot to settle without moving.

I am in doubt about what approach regarding research is best:
-max science on the wheel and hope on popping huts that give us writing
-min science on writing with a small chance on getting poly @ 1st.

Regarding build order I want to go curragh, scout, curragh first. I expect to get warriors form popped huts that can serve as MP for Lisbon. How about it?

Also, I like to go for the Great Lighthouse. The Great Library however might be of lesser use, as we probably want to get to Astronomy as fast as possible (our UU is probably ideal for this huge map).

I am going to bed now, but I will not go to work tomorrow morning and play then. Comments are very welcome :)

Indeed a great start! Two wheats, river and coastal? Plus a whale and a fish? [dance]

I have never played expansionist civ so I don't know the sci. :) However I agree with the build order and lighthouse. Since there are so many civs, GL is of little use since we can benefit from the trading. Contact is key here.

 Wow! We must have tipped Skyfish extra-heavy for THAT start! (the check's in the mail) ;)

I would rather build another scout first, then a curragh. On science I would go max on Cerem. Burial (that is always the cheapest and the first one a hut tech pop will give you.) Then go for a minimum science run on something else. It all depends upon how lucky you think we are going to be!

It sure would be nice to delay the Lighthouse build until we are out of depotism, but we definitely want it. Have I mentioned lately how much I hate despotic GAs? *hehe*
