Re the infra push, I believe you are totally right !
Also attacking with MedInfs on a super huge map is not a really nice prospect...

On the build order : I would go for Marketplaces before Libs since you are not going to research yourselves immediately :)
Also I would go for acqueducts as soon as a city hits size 5 or even fast growing size 4s...

Sky, thanks for the input and you're right. We can make a lot of money with all those rivers in our lands. So markets definatelly are very important. In fact I followed your order in my ten turns.

Also very true regarding aquaducts. These are very important as well, for growth and unit support.

I have already invented myself - can I be exempted? :P

btw, I'd move Courthouses in before Markets, aside from Skys excellent suggestions ;)

Depending on the town, I think aquaducts before markets can sometime generate more gold (depends on growth rate and time needed to build the aquaduct/market, and our Lux situation). It also starts growth earlier so you reach the larger sizes faster.

The naive way to think of it is that a market gets you 50% increase, but going from size 6 to 12 doubles it. The problems of course is you don't get immediate gold & you may need too many specialists/entertainers.

For the above reason, I think the order of "courthouse", "aquaduct", "market" is better off not being fixed (with low lux "cathedral" can be thrown in too)

Got it. I should be able to play and complete it tonight (around 10 hours from now). It might take two nights if a suicide galley is successful in contacting the other continent. I'd imagine the turn of contact itself would probably take 2 hours to complete!

I see no real reason to change anything, although I know in these games, whenever a harbor is built, it adds another 1-2 minutes to the interturn. (Thanks, Aggie!) :p BTW...just to mention it here rather than each turn - try to settle a city in case an open slot frees up.

530 BC (1) Lisbon (Harbor->Worker) sdfsdf (Settler->Worker) Rio (Temple->Courthouse) Lourenco (Worker->Worker). Exploring. Start out the suicide galley that Aggie mentioned. Check the trading circuit. 3/4's of our neighbors have horses (none to trade). No luxes to trade except for Scaninavians who have 5! Ivory. (Too steep a price!)

510 BC (2) Lagos (Harbor (Zzzz), Aqueduct) Lisbon (Worker-> Vet Warrior- for Sword upgrade later?) Suicide galley survives this turn. Hurry temple in Emerita. Nothing new diplomatically.

490 BC (3) Lisbon (Warrior->Warrior) Emerita (Temple->Worker) Guardia (Temple->Courthouse) Galley is still afloat. It sights land and is safe at the end of this turn! Nothing new on the diplo front, except a couple of people have Feudalism now, but the price is still astronomical.

470 BC (4) Lisbon (Warrior-Worker) Americans start Sun Tzu's. Our galley looks like it only found a frozen rock. Wait! I see a border on the last move. :) Pop a hut and get 50 gold.

450 BC (5) Lisbon (Worker-Library) Faro (Marketplace->Temple) Castelo (Worker->Worker). Our brave Galley meets the Celtics. They have nothing to offer us and are equal in techs to us.

430 BC (6) Oporto (Library->Worker) Evora (Worker-Temple) Lourenco (Worker->Temple) Just exploring and building this turn. Trying to get a road going to our Dyes. Still can't trade anything.

410 BC (7) Oporto (Worker->Warrior) Guarda (Worker->Worker) Uhmmmm...nothing much else going on.

390 BC (8) Oporto (Warrior-Warrior) Pop another hut and get 50 gold. Galley is still traveling along Celtic coastline.

370 BC (9) Oporto (Warrior-Warrior) Pop a hut and get maps.

350 BC (10) Oporto (Warrior-Warrior) Emerita (Worker->Worker) Coimbra (Temple->Courthouse) Castelo (Worker->Worker) This Celtic coastline is loooooong! Feudalism in 30 turns (min research). Forbidden Palace due in 13 turns. We're earning 79 gpt, and we now have 24 Workers. Persia and America have just learned Engineering from somewhere. Trade Monarchy to Scandinavia for Ivory and small change. (They already had Republic.)

The game at 350 BC

got it.
hope to play 5 today. Then I will post it and 'got it' for another 5 once I see I can do them.

boss left early, I can do ten, expect to be done around 19:00 unless something big crops up (e.g. new copntacts, war).

aggie, go see a pshrink, willya? I am encountering MUSKETS on the toehr cont :(

j/k to scare aggie ;)

(1) moves, an orange border comes into view near the Celts

(2) orange border is spain! Engineering is on the table in both US and Korea(?) no thanx...
Lourenco gets switch to barracks, I think an attack on eh Maya is in order..... I move our warriors there ;)
rush Spearman in Sao Paulo.

(3) 50 from hut

(4) possible 2fer: mongols have Feud. Eng costs us too much: all income and some flat or all money and 35 per, leaving us with too little money for upgrades of warriors.
postpone this.

(5) now Carths also have Feud. Still too expensive though :(
(6) Aztecs extort us: Lit. I tell them to shove it and they declare war.
(7) 13 Gold gives ROP with Mongols.
(8) meet babylon, ahead two techs. Aztec Galleys show up next to Viseu which is changed to Spearman.
(9) I decide to liven things up for a bit - we will fall back in tech horribly OR pay too much if things do not change. What civ that is far away has a tech we lack and is not too rich and large? Vikings!
I attempt a risky steal for 760 Gold and succeed :D If ti had failed we could have gone for Alesund (a thorn in our side  )We know Feud now and can hook up the iron and go for the Maya (I suggest them so that we have a short walk and do not encounter pikes ;))
(10) lose a galley trying to sink an Aztec one. Grrrr. Pull workers towards iron.

The settler deep in teh jungle is on auto to the foggy spot southeast,t hen should be directed towards the iron in the jungle further southeast - may be a good res to trade ;)

i would advocate an attack on the Maya with preferably one sotuhern and one northern civ bought into the fray (spreads the maya troops thin). We should NTO make peace soon, whatever the tech offer might be, but do as much damage as long as we can and settle a few more towns, grabbing the other iron preferably ;)

One tiny thing I noticedfrom the save is that luxury can go down. Thw risky steal was -ehm- risky :p

I prefer a rather peaceful period until later and would love us exploit the situation we have. We have the opportunity to trade between continents!!

aggie: trade WHAT????? and what with????? We have EITHER money for an upgrade OR for a dealing round!

also, we have a lot of warrior to upgrade and use before the AIs have Pikes! Use them or lose them - they will either by used as Med Inf or Guerilla...... your choice! ;)
Lux should be 'downable' due to Dyes hooked up - I totally forgot to check if they came online lastz turn! :smoke:
