Aggressive pop-up ad with ErrorSafe SpyWare

Got it this afternoon - while at work which is pretty embarassing.

And again while typing this in. Must be some combo of key presses!

I had the same thing again when browsing those forums, but could not see the ad, in spite of refreshing.

I may have had the same thing happen to me. It happened when I closed the CFC window.

Didn't occur to me that this might be what this thread is talking about until much later, so sadly no screenies. Will do it if it happens again.

Yeah, I got the same site as Naokaukodem - though in English - earlier today.

As I say though, it, happened when I closed the CFC window, so I couldn't get a shot of what was happening on this site at the time.

I used to get ErrorSafe messages often, along with ones for WinFixer, which used the same method. When you see the message even if you click cancel the spyware installs itself onto your computer, and it's almost impossible to remove and will continue to make pop ups when it can. The only way to get past it is to turn off your browser using task manager when you see the message. Switching to another browser won't work, because they also appear on Firefox and Opera.

I have updated Windows XP and apparently it blocks this kind of thing automatically. (I have also the WinXP firewall on)

I still have the thing, but once per session. I will have to remember to watch the ad the first time I come here after having put on my computer.

col, have you tried clearing your browser cache? This likely doesn't fix it but is something to try.

My thoughts too. Yeah - I've cleaned out my cache now. Will report if happens again. Not sure what Imiht have cached though!

I had the same problem a few days ago, didn't know it was from CFC.
Clearing Content.IE5 in temporary internet files helped me (or at least, I guess it was this that helped).

I had this happen today. The ad displayed when I closed the pop-up was a vodaphone advert, the screenshot disappeared from clipboard though. I'll try again if it happens again.
