Airliner shot down over disputed part of Ukraine

I am guessing they've already got all of the witness statements and information out of him that they can get. And it's not like Russia is ever going to acknowledge any wrongdoing or involvement so it probably won't hurt anything to turn him over at this point.

He is not only a witness but also a suspect having been involved according to our Dutch Justice dept..
I should have added that in my post directly.
His name Vladimir Tsemach

Well, the 'esssential witness' can always recant. But the investigation was mostly based on evidence, since witnesses can be... untrustworthy. so we can assume that any trial will be based on that same evidence and not on a collection of witness testimonies. Witnesses may, when put on the stand, illuminate or illustrate certain points. But they cannot change the outcome of forensic evidence. If witness statements contradict evidence, the only conlusion can be that they are not quite telling the truth. Unlike evidence, people have an interest at stake when on trial.

Like when they are also accused of involvement.

They can be telling the truth and still just be wrong about what happened.

Well, that's why you need evidence and not 'confessions' or whatever. People can be convinced of just about anything, think they are telling the truth and still be wrong.

And tell something you can investigate to find hard evidence

Yes, I'm agreeing with you.

Thanks.

I suppose what you mean is you rely on people to point to evidence. That's, of course, always the case. Even justice is done by people. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try your utmost to get the facts straight.

Thanks.

Fot a court case you always want your facts straight

This MH-17 affair is pretty much drawn into a political affair
But the family of the perished people will give a damn about those politics.
A teacher of secondary school of my two daughters was killed. My former neighbor had booked for that flight but had a sudden change of a date for her cancer chemo treatment and was lucky to cancel that flight.
They just want to have a proper closure of this... the mourning and the justice
Pretty powerfull drivers considering how important it is to open up old, "cold cases" of rape and murder with modern techniques.

Just straight facts and justice.
